It's been barely two days since the Brexit referendum, and no doubt some LEAVE supporters are still celebrating their big victory.
But not all of them. Some of them it seems are now having sober second thoughts.
And what with the pound having fallen to a thirty-year low, the stock markets shuddering, and the country split down the middle, and in danger of falling apart.
Now some of them are saying they're sorry.
And even in the pro-LEAVE Daily Mail, admitting they didn't know what they were doing.
Or frantically Googling "What is the EU?"
Or desperately signing this petition.
But of course it's too late now, the EU wants them out as soon as possible. Like tomorrow.
And now that they've won their referendum, the LEAVE leaders are already breaking their promises...
Like the one they painted on the side of their campaign bus, or their promise to end immigration from Europe.
Within hours of the result on Friday morning, the Ukip leader, Nigel Farage, had distanced himself from the claim that £350m of EU contributions could instead be spent on the NHS, while the Tory MEP Daniel Hannan said free movement could result in similar levels of immigration after Brexit.
Hannan said: “Frankly, if people watching think that they have voted and there is now going to be zero immigration from the EU, they are going to be disappointed.”
And since these LEAVE supporters were out in Newcastle yesterday, not just demanding that all immigration be stopped...
But also that those in the country be immediately deported.
I can only imagine how they might react when they find out they've been suckered...

And leave you to imagine what kind of country Britain, or Little England, is becoming.
And the good news?
It seems that a lot of REMAIN supporters are thinking of moving to Canada.
Which is excellent, because you can be sure that none of them would EVER vote for the Cons.
While others are thinking of moving to Scotland.
For as this map so clearly shows, the Scots like the people of Northern Ireland, weren't fooled by the hollow promises of the LEAVE leaders, or moved by their toxic bigotry.
Now both are thinking of holding their own referendums. And in Scotland it seems the desire to escape the nightmare that Britain is becoming, couldn't be stronger.
Nearly 60 percent of Scots now support Scottish independence after Britain voted to leave the European Union this week, according to a new opinion poll.
The Sunday Post said 59 per cent of respondents in the poll backed independence from the United Kingdom. That was sharply higher than the 45 per cent of votes cast in favour of independence at a referendum in 2014 which resulted in the country staying in the UK.
And after thinking about all of the above, for at least five minutes, these are my first conclusions:
One, whatever we do let's NOT hold a referendum on electoral reform, for the ignorant are easily confused.
Let's just agree what system we want, ram it through Parliament, and bury the Cons forever.
And two, if in this ugly sometimes frightening world, Canada and Scotland are seen as good places to live...
We must be doing something right. I was right to tattoo a similar image over my heart when I was just fifteen, even though my Mum practically fainted.
And we should ALL be proud of ourselves.
The bigots couldn't fool us, the Con bullies couldn't scare us. Woohoo !!!
Scotland AND Canada forever.
Have a great Sunday everybody...

The poor Brits, stiff upper lip and all. Why don't they do referendums the Canadian / Scottish way? Take the best out of 3 or 4 or what ever it takes to get the answer they want? Then again 50% +1 referendums are really not a great idea on key issues. Turns out politicians have been known to tell lies.

Your mum must be very proud of you Simon! Brilliant tattoo. On your point about remaining in EU, mainly Brits are applying for all kinds of passports from family members being French, German, etc. I would liken this to one day waking up and being constricted to one province. Trade is real, anyone in business has to deal with international trade issues (and by extension consumers).
Great post.

Good on Scotland if they do separate. I believe in the smaller the government the better. You have a great day too Simon, I'm off to the mall time to find a couple of shirts that actually fit me. :(

The Welsh are far from being bigots or stupid, so why did they vote to leave?
Cameron will walk away from the mess created by Boris and Nigel. they will have to clean it up, along with those who campaigned for leave. yes there were a lot of things wrong with the E.U., but negotiations could have worked those things out.
People like Boris, made a living of "gottacha" journalism. well now, Cameron has "got" Boris. The guy's hair looks too much like Trumps.......
Some may not welcome the Scots in the E.U., one being Spain. as an article explained they aren't too keen on more seperatists and being an e.g,. to their seperatists.
Northern Ireland, that is going to be a problem. They are currently a part of G.B. and to get to Ireland proper, there will be new immigration borders. that maybe troublesome. Would northern Ireland vote to join, Ireland? its hard to say, but it is doubtful the Protestants will go for it.
We will know in 10 years how this shakes out. Hope to live that long.
hi RT...yes, the Brexiteers seem to have voted to take Britain out of the EU, with some not knowing what they are doing, and their demagogic leaders with no plan to deal with what will happen next. And yes, it is a very good reason why we should avoid referendums on complicated matters where the ignorant can be confused, or manipulated by others for their own purposes...
hi TS...well she is now, and she has always loved me not matter what wild and crazy things I did when I was a teenager. But of course would NEVER do now ;)
But seriously, this brevet result is going to cause all kinds of economic dislocation. My brother who works in Europe and has a British passport, is now worried that he could lose his job. So are millions of others in Britain and Europe. I realize the European Union is not perfect, but it is a noble idea, and they should have worked to reform it rather than throwing out the baby with the bath water...
hi MC...I hope that Scotland does separate, because as things stand its votes count for nothing in a British general election, and England gets to dictate what kind of government it should have. And since the Cameron Cons have done horrible things to the poor and the country's medicare system, the only way the Scots can escape them is to separate, and run their own affairs. It's not a tribal thing, my Mum is English so I can hardly hate that country. It's just a simple matter of democracy...
hi anon...I must admit that I was surprised that Wales voted to leave, for you're right I have never heard of them being stupid or bigoted. But then a lot of English people aren't either, so the only way I can explain it is that it must be its aging population, who like many other older people in Britain believe they can restore the past when everything seemed simpler and better...
hi e.a.f...yes it will not be easy for the Cons to clean up the mess they have made, and it will not be easy for Scotland to separate with the Spanish government worried that Catalonia could be next. But the tide of history is irresistible, and we do live in a time when radical change is in the air...
