Hurricane Sandy and the Twitter Troll
On Tuesday night, as New Yorkers struggled to cope with the fury of Hurricane Sandy.
A Twitter account with the handle ComfortablySmug tried to cause even more fear.
By sending out a series of alarming false messages.

Tony Clement and The Great Lake Scam
Good Lordy...I mean good lardy. You can't trust those Cons as far as you can spit, and they can squeal.
For they will strip most of our lakes, rivers, and creeks of any environmental protection.
Just not the ones in their ridings.

The Big Storm and My American Nightmare
It's been a living nightmare. The dirtiest election I've ever seen.
An election corrupted by Big Money, two billion dollars worth of attack ads, and more Big Lies than you can count.
A frightening spectacle of a country so bitterly divided, it's eating itself alive.

Porky Tales and the Madness of Con Canada
After disconnecting myself from the 24-hour news cycle for about a week, I decided to check out what Stephen Harper and his Cons had been up to in my absence.
Because as we all know, you can't take your eyes off that porky gang for a moment, in case you miss another scandal, another ethical malfunction, another democratic outrage, another court case.
Or the latest police intervention.

Mourning the Death of an Old Friend
It's been almost a week since I last blogged, and since I left so abruptly some of you have been wondering where I went.
And no doubt some may have feared that I had reread my last post, taken a second look at the burning horror of Harperland.
And decided to get the hell out of here, while the going was still good eh?
But of course I wouldn't miss the collapse of the Con regime for anything.
And the only reason I couldn't write for a few days was because I was mourning this old friend...

Harperland and Our Lost Canada
I was on my way to catch the ferry the other day, when I came across this seagull perched majestically on a pole, looking like it knew the answer to everything.
So I said "Seagull, explain me this; how can something as horrible as Harperland happen in a place as beautiful as Canada?"
And the wise old bird, with the beady yellow eyes, replied: "It's a long story, nobody cares, and I don't either." And flew off.

The War on Bullies and the Harper Cons
Could it be true? Could it really be happening? After all this time. After all those dead kids.
Has the death of Amanda Todd ignited a war on bullies? At last.
For this looks promising.
Eight teenage girls are facing criminal harassment charges stemming from a bullying investigation at a London, Ont. high school.

Jimbo Flaherty and the Con Man Budget
Well I've got to hand it to that old Con man Jimbo Flaherty.
When he's not screaming at the opposition, or giving the Europeans the finger, or standing on a ladder massaging the buttocks of Big Business, he's always trying to pull a fast one eh?
Always trying to fool Canadians.

The Con Blob That Ate Canada
Sometimes I can't believe what the Cons have done to Canada. It's like a low budget horror movie eh?
A movie like Zombie Nightmare with
Or Der Con Blob, where a gelatinous mass of alien slime invades a peaceful country, eats every shred of decency in its path, and grosses us out beyond recognition.
For just look what those monstrous Cons were up to today.

The Day the Cons Turned Parliament into a Farce
If anyone still thinks we have a Parliament, rather than a Con circus, what happened today in Question Period should disabuse them of that lunatic notion.
For you had to see it to believe it eh?
Stephen Harper rambling on like a maniac about how his carbon tax wasn't a carbon tax. Because he says it wasn't. Making a complete fool out of himself.
But still getting one standing ovation after the other from his squealing minions. It was frightening, it was madness, it was an absolute farce.

The Con Klowns Strike Again (PG rated)
Gawd. Living in Harperland isn't easy eh?
Sometimes you weep, and sometimes you laugh.
And sometimes on a day like this one you can do both. Weep for the bullied children of Canada who the Cons are refusing to help.

Felix, Joe, and the Big Jump
I'm too tired to blog tonight, but I just want to say that I thought this big jump was awesome.
Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner became the first man to break the sound barrier in a record-shattering freefall jump from the edge of space Sunday, organizers said.
The 43-year-old jumped from a capsule more than 39 kilometers above the Earth, reaching a speed of 1,136 kilometres per hour before opening his red and white parachute and floating down to the New Mexico desert.
Because it proves what I've always said eh? After two or three Red Bulls you can do ANYTHING.

The Dead Kids and the Con Bullies
I'm glad to see that the sad story of Amanda Todd is getting so much attention all over the world.
An outpouring of grief from around the world continued on social media websites Saturday for Amanda Todd, the 15-year-old Port Coquitlam girl who ended her life Wednesday after years of bullying.
Even if some of it is so evil.

The Bullies and the War on Girls
When I came home from work this evening, the CN tower was still glowing pink in honour of the first ever International Day of the Girl Child.
A day to honour all the girls in the world, and remember all those whose lives are brutalized or diminished by discrimination, and other horrors like child marriage.
Approximately 70 million young women today were married before age 18, according to the UN, which notes that child marriage denies a girl her childhood, disrupts her education, limits her opportunities, increases her risk of being a victim of violence and abuse, and jeopardizes her health.
But all I could think about tonight was two of those girls.

The Harper Regime and the Road to Resistance
When the dark history of the Harper regime is finally written, historians will note that it took a very long time before many Canadians realized what was happening.
Before they finally understood into what monstrous pit of moral depravity the deranged leader of the Con cult was dragging them.
As he slowly turned Canada into a brutish prison state.

The NDP Attack Ad and the Con Zombies
I'm not quite sure what to think about this latest attack ad from the NDP.
I suppose I should be grateful that somebody put out a video calling the Cons Lying Liars. I'm sure that somewhere out there, some people who get their news only from YouTube, must be saying "Who knew eh?"
And it certainly was sneaky to put out an attack ad that only quotes some scribblers from the MSM. So the NDP can say we didn't bad mouth the Cons, Andrew Coyne did.

Beating the Doggie Called Depression
I went for a walk the other day through the leafy lanes of The Shire, with a friend of mine who has suffered from severe depression from about this time last year.
It was such a beautiful fall day. He was so happy, at having made so much progress on the road to recovery.
And I was just so grateful that he's still here, and that I'm still standing.

Harperland and the Giant Slaughterhouse
The Con Meat Scandal has produced a lot of disturbing images.
The sight of Gerry Ritz being hustled away by his handlers, after being unable to answer even a couple of questions from the media.
All that ghastly shiny hamburger meat, staring out at us from every newspaper and TV set, and almost daring us to eat it. The look on people's faces when I tell them Stephen Harper is planning to fire even more food inspectors.
But the image I find most deeply disturbing is this picture of the monstrous XL Foods slaughterhouse, and those black cows munching peacefully away, oblivious to their fate.

Thanksgiving and the Madness of King Harper
It's Thanksgiving Day in Canada. The day when you realize that summer isn't coming back.
And a day when I feel particularly close to our U.S. neighbours.
For although they don't celebrate Thanksgiving until November, we both share the Pilgrim turkey, on this most North American of holidays.
As well as the happy legacy of having lived side by side in peace for so long.
So I thought it was particularly unfortunate that the New York Times should choose this weekend to write about the Con regime's obsession with the War of 1812.

Gerry Ritz and the Cold Cut Cannon
Four years ago, during a Listeriosis epidemic that killed 22 Canadians, somebody created a video game called the Cold Cuts Cannon.
Where you could fire cold cuts at little Gerry Ritz heads floating gently over Parliament Hill.
Pop his balloon so to speak, for having had the crassness to joke about the deadly crisis during a meeting with his subordinates:

The Northern Gateway Pipeline is Dead
Or so says Jeffrey Simpson.
The Northern Gateway pipeline that Enbridge proposes to build from Alberta’s bitumen oil to the Pacific coast of British Columbia is, for all intents and purposes, dead.
Yes, regulatory hearings before the National Energy Board will continue until the NEB approves the project. And yes, Enbridge will keep pushing for it. And yes, the Harper government, which is so publicly committed to the project, will continue to extol its virtues as part of the need to get Canadian resources to Asia.
But the project is dead. It has too many obstacles now, and there’ll be more in the future.

Rob Anders and the Reform Party Reborn
Oh. My. Zombie. I'm afraid that Rob Anders is entering the final stages of his earthly degradation.
Just a few days ago that grotesque Con was accusing Tom Mulcair of killing Jack Layton.
Now he's going after the human rights of transgendered Canadians.

Did Obama Lose the Election Last Night?
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Obama and Mitt Romney had a debate but only Romney showed up.
Mitt Romney pressed the reset button last night on his campaign. He presented himself as a compassionate centrist, deeply concerned about the fate of the unemployed and low-income households struggling to climb the economic ladder in a stagnant economy.
Posing as a man who cares about the poor, when that callous millionaire has spent his whole life screwing them. Spewing one Big Lie after the other. While Obama just stood looking there looking like a wimp, and let him get away with murder.

The Liberal Messiah and King Harper's Nightmare
Lordy. It's lucky Stephen Harper is a secret religious fanatic eh?
So he can console himself by reading how King Herod felt about the birth of the baby
Liberal MP Justin Trudeau launched his long-speculated Liberal party leadership bid Tuesday, aiming to establish himself as a contender in his announcement speech by hitting out at rival parties over the economy and reaching out to youth, the middle class and Quebecers.

Harperland and the Foulness of the Cons
Sometimes these days when I go looking for my Canada, strong, noble, and decent, I can't find it.
Instead of a young country charging confidently into the future, I see a country full of angry, bitter, crazed Cons, filling up with hatred, and heading for the bottom.
Instead of the cool, fresh wind of the Canadian fall in my face, there is the stink of Harperland, and foul stench of Rob Anders.

Mulroney, the CIA, and the Con Meat Factory
Oh no. Blow me down like a leprechaun. It turns out Brian Mulroney didn't have to sing and dance for Ronald and Nancy Reagan at the Shamrock Summit.
Like the Bojangles of Baie Comeau.
The Americans liked him enough already.
