He tried every dirty trick in the book to try to win his nomination battle.
He smeared his opponents as closet Liberals. He used misleading robocalls against them.
He called on his rabid religious base to save him.
But nothing could stop the Con loon Rob Anders from facing his own personal Armageddon.
I see that voters in the riding of Calgary Signal Hill will be deciding the fate today of the Con loon Rob Anders.
And that his opponent believes that this time he can be beaten.
Ron Liepert says it's a myth that controversial Calgary MP Rob Anders is somehow untouchable after a 17-year run in federal politics.
And it's a streak he's hoping to bust when federal Conservatives in the riding on Calgary Signal Hill pick their nominee on Saturday.
So you might think that Stephen Harper and his inner circle would be secretly hoping that Liepert can rid them of a guy like Anders, who is always embarrassing the Cons and making them look like rednecks or MANIACS.
But sadly you'd be wrong.
When I see two guys getting ready to fight each other, my usual instinct is to try to separate them before somebody gets hurt.
In the best peacekeeping tradition of this country.
Or whatever...
But I have to admit that when I see Cons getting ready to fight each other, especially in redneck Alberta, my message to them is more like this:
Hey guys, wait until I get out of the way eh? And then feel free to beat yourselves BLOODY !!!!
Well he must be feeling pretty good these days. It must be his happy hour.
Parliament is shutdown so he doesn't have to answer any questions about any of his many scandals.
Or his foul voter suppression bill.
Instead he can pose as a champion of democracy in Ukraine, harvest the ethnic vote, and dream of stealing the next election.
But unfortunately for him it is too good to be true. It is just an illusion.
In a party full of the most disgusting politicians this country has ever seen, he is arguably the most disgusting Con MP in the House of Commons.
A grotesque social conservative who has called Nelson Mandela a terrorist, accused Tom Mulcair of hastening Jack Layton's death. Attacked women's rights and LGBT rights in the most obscene manner. Been caught sleeping in the Commons, and during a committee meeting on homeless veterans.
And made the people in his Calgary riding who elect him election after election look like backward rednecks.
But now at last Rob Anders may be fighting for his political life.
Oh. My. Zombie. I'm afraid that Rob Anders is entering the final stages of his earthly degradation.
Just a few days ago that grotesque Con was accusing Tom Mulcair of killing Jack Layton.
Now he's going after the human rights of transgendered Canadians.
Sometimes these days when I go looking for my Canada, strong, noble, and decent, I can't find it.
Instead of a young country charging confidently into the future, I see a country full of angry, bitter, crazed Cons, filling up with hatred, and heading for the bottom.
Instead of the cool, fresh wind of the Canadian fall in my face, there is the stink of Harperland, and foul stench of Rob Anders.
Oh no. I don't want to frighten you eh? But has anybody noticed that the Con regime is turning into a real horror show?
Not only have they started calling anybody who disagrees with them a traitor.
But there was the rabid wingnut Rob Anders the other day, claiming that the only reason he nodded off in Parliament was because he was hit by a monster truck.
