He's the shiny bigot balloon of Alberta, the new leader of that province's United Conservative Party. And although he is widely despised by most decent Canadians, Jason Kenney does have one big supporter, or cheerleader in the east. The ghastly Margaret Wente.
In one of my last posts I told you how shocked most LGBT Americans were to hear themselves described as Donald Trump's newest supporters. With that ghastly bigot now claiming that after the Orlando massacre, gay people hate Muslims as much as he does. Even though that's nonsense. So I'm glad to see that Hillary Clinton is trying to correct the record.
As if it hasn't been a brutal enough week for the LBGT community. So many deaths, so much grief. And so much anger over the way people like Donald Trump are using their tragedy and their pain to try to hurt others. By whipping up hatred against Muslims, Mexican-Americans, refugees and others, while ignoring the hatred that killed their brothers and sisters. Homophobia, the beast that lives in so many. So as you can imagine, this was like adding insult to injury.
Stephen Harper has always been a stealthy but vicious enemy of the LGBT community. He has voted against every bill or measure designed to protect their human rights. He believes that being gay is just a choice. And now I see one of his candidates is following in his master's ghastly footsteps. And advocating the torture of gay children.
The timing couldn't have been better, coming as it did two days before the 46th anniversary of the so-called Stonewall Riots in New York City...
The revolt that is principally credited as the beginning of the gay liberation movement in the United States. And is celebrated every year with pride marches all over the world. But millions and millions of LGBT Americans still had to struggle for almost half a century against the most insane and brutish bigotry, to be granted this measure of human equality.
A wonderful thing may be about to happen in Ireland in just a few days. Millions of people are preparing to take on the power of the Catholic Church, and some of the nastiest bigots you can imagine. And make that country the first in the world to vote to approve same-sex marriage.
OK. I know that only last night I strongly suggested that the time had come to ignore Rob Ford. That since by now it has been clearly established that he is a crass bully, a vulgar misogynist, a low life thug, and a filthy bigot. All that remained was to defeat him, humiliate him. Or let nature takes its course...
If the Polar Bear God of the Great White North should choose to save us that way. But I can't ignore this.
Like millions of others I was dazzled by the closing of the Sochi Games, for it was a spectacular display of the best that Russia has to offer. And I was happy to see the smiles on the faces of our athletes after such a successful Olympics. But I have to admit I really didn't feel like celebrating, not when the biggest winner of those games was the sinister thug Vladimir Putin.
It couldn't have been an uglier or more depressing sight. The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin at Canada House in Sochi. Being greeted by our athletes as if he was some kind of rock star. And they were his groupies...
It's a deeply disturbing story. A Toronto Star reporter goes undercover in a Toronto church and discovers a weird group of religious fanatics trying to "heal" gay people. Telling them there is no such thing as a gay person. God didn't make any.Telling them it's their fault or their parent's fault. Encouraging this kind of nonsense. During a lesson titled “The Father Wound,” a participant said his father was absent when his mother was pregnant. After considering the teachings, he realized his dad’s absence may be the root of his gay desires — he longed for male affection even inside the womb. Our leaders encouraged this as truth and thanked God for giving him this insight.
Uh oh. Bacon Bigot Alert. The ghastly homophobic hog Gwen Landolt is honking again. Claiming it was very VERY unfair to criticize her for attacking John Baird for speaking out for gay rights in Russia and Uganda. Because according to her porcine majesty, LGBT people in those countries are not really being persecuted.
Lordy. What a blast from the past. I haven't used these guys to illustrate posts about the violent homophobes of Jamaica for YEARS. I thought things were getting better on Zombie Island. But I see I was horribly wrong.
I was glad to see that Russia's oppressed LGBT people were not forgotten at Vancouver's recent Pride parade. Nor was their degenerate fascist oppressor. But I must admit I still can't decide what's the best way to put pressure on his corrupt regime. To boycott the Sochi games or not.
In just a few hours I'll be following the rainbow, or waving it, at the Toronto Pride parade. Along with about a million gay people and their straight friends and supporters. It's always an awesome spectacle. A chance to celebrate our community, our survival, and in my case at least, send a giant F**K YOU to every bigot in the world. Because that's what the rainbow flag means to me. FREEDOM.
I haven't written about Kathleen Wynne becoming Ontario's first woman and lesbian Premier, for a couple of reasons. One, I hate writing the words "openly gay." You're either gay or you're not. And two because at this point in the 21st Century I didn't think it should be a big deal. But sadly I was wrong. For the flood of articles and blog posts claiming it doesn't matter, clearly show it does.
Oh. My. Zombie. I'm afraid that Rob Anders is entering the final stages of his earthly degradation. Just a few days ago that grotesque Con was accusing Tom Mulcair of killing Jack Layton. Now he's going after the human rights of transgendered Canadians.
I don't know whether this video of some loser apparently urinating on an unconscious homeless person is real.
The video that lasts 27-seconds shows a young man approaching a man sleeping on the sidewalk outside what appears to be Toronto's Eaton Centre. With his back to the camera he appears to urinate on the sleeping man while his friends can be heard laughing off-camera. The victim doesn't react and appears to remain asleep as his head and hair are soaked.
The fact that we will not be publishing this ad again represents a recognition on our part that publishing it in the first place was a mistake. The National Post would like to apologize unreservedly to anyone who was offended by it. We will be taking steps to ensure that in future our procedures for vetting the content of advertising will be strictly adhered to.
And I say good for them. I may not agree with just about everything the Post stands for, but I knew they were better than that.
And this is EXCELLENT.
The Post will also be donating the proceeds from the advertisement to an organization that promotes the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people.

As you know I hate bullies of all stripes. From Stephen Harper and his thug Cons, to those who bully children for being different or gentle, to those who beat helpless old people in senior's homes.
So you can imagine how I feel about those who bullied and assaulted a disabled boy and drove him to suicide.
“He was never the same after the mugging,” said Mitchell’s father, Craig Wilson, who found his son’s lifeless body on Sept. 6 — a plastic bag tied around the young boy’s head — when he went to wake him up for what would have been his first day of Grade 6. “Ultimately it shattered his life.”
Or how I felt when I read what his grandmother had to say today.
“He said to me, ‘Mimi, my biggest issue is that I can’t protect myself, and if a man cannot protect himself, then he is not a man,’” recalled Ms. Wilson.
I wondered why a gentle child would have to become violent to live in a place like Canada. And then I discovered this.
Among the other findings, 45 per cent of all the Canadian youths in this survey agreed with the statement that “to be a man, you need to be tough.” That compared to 13 per cent in the U.K. and 26 per cent in Rwanda.
And it explained so much. Why we have bullies in our parliament, so many goons on our hockey rinks, and why we don't take bullying seriously enough.
For the record, I was a gentle child who was forced to become violent, or take martial arts, in order to survive. And although I did get a measure of revenge, what I can never forgive the bullies for is forcing me to be someone I was not.
Because boys should not be forced to conform to such narrow old-fashioned gender roles. And neither should girls.
The report, released Thursday by the development agency Plan International, found 31 per cent of Canadian boys aged 12 to 17 believe a woman’s most important role is feeding her family and taking care of the home.
They should just be who they are.
