Stephen Harper and the Conada Day Horror Show

I tuned into the Canada Day show on Parliament Hill today just as they were playing God Save The Queen.

And just in time to see Great Patriotic Leader proclaim that we should all be happy and proud to be Canadians.

In his remarks, Harper told the crowd that Canadians have much for which to be proud and thankful. "Proud of a strong and growing economy, proud of a caring and compassionate society...

Which made me laugh so loudly, I expelled a large piece of bagel with such force it flew through the air and hit the TV screen just below his left nostril. Which was disgusting but strangely appropriate. Even if it was the wrong nose hole.

Me and the Pride Day Parade

OMG. It's the Gay Pride weekend in Toronto and I should be looking forward to the festivities.

Canada Day and Gay Day what more could you ask for?

But instead I'm lying in my tree hammock in my jockey shorts, cruising for a cool breeze, quaffing gallons of lemonade.

And wondering do I REALLY have to go to the Pride parade?

Rob Ford and the Gay Pride Parade

Well I see that Rob Ford has announced that he'd rather get drunk at his cottage, than march in the Pride Parade.

Rob Ford is skipping the pride parade to spend his Canada Day weekend at the cottage, ending a long tradition of participation by Toronto mayors in the popular event.

And I for one am delighted eh?

Because it is a long parade route, it can get brutally hot, and if he melted into a pool of grease, they'd have to get a sewer sucker to hoover him up.

And surely nobody is surprised by the message he is sending to the city's gay community.

Councillor Janet Davis said the mayor’s decision not to march is indicative of his feelings toward the gay community. “By not going to Pride I think he is sending a very clear message that they don’t count in Rob Ford’s city,” she said.

Because a homophobe is a homophobe.

Birds bigots of a feather flock together.

And a hog, is a hog, is a HAWG.

Gawd. What an idiot MONSTER. Why does he hate the people of Toronto soooo much? When can we remove him from office?

And why is that grotesque Fordzilla stirring up homophobia again?  Because all you have to do is read the comments in the Globe article  to see what I mean:

Hmmm, hang out at lake with family, have a beer, grill some steak and catch some fish.

OR

Watch half-naked, oiled up men dance around in their underpants blowing whistles.....

Pass the beer Rob.

I wouldn't go either; someone might sneeze and spread AIDS

And if some gay person is beaten or murdered as a result, he'll have blood all over his trotters.

Oh well. At least the lesson couldn't be clearer eh?

Until progressives unite to defeat the common enemy, they'll get the government, the Prime Minister.

And the Pig Mayor they DESERVE...

Rob Ford and the Hogtown Horror Show

A few days ago a foul smell had the good citizens of Toronto gasping and choking, and wondering where it was coming from.

Perhaps the smell was the ghost of the garbage strike, awakened by spring’s windy caress.

Or maybe it was more sinister, bubbling up from the bowels of Lake Ontario.

Whatever the case, when the citizens of the GTA awoke Wednesday to a crisp sunny day, they smelled crap.

The Ministry of the Environment finally declared it was just the smell of Spring in Hogtown.

Right.

But of course I blamed this Con hog...

Because you can't put lipstick on this one. It's an absolute horror show.

And ever since he came to power the stench has been overwhelming. A mixture of right-wing manure, stinky decisions, rancid gravy.

City council’s compliance audit committee unanimously voted Friday to order a full audit of Rob Ford’s campaign expenses, marking the first time a sitting City of Toronto mayor has had to undergo this kind of scrutiny.

And to make matters even more revolting, the pungent odour of homophobia. Which is where I leave Matt to pick up the story.

Can you believe it eh? A porker like that calling himself the Mayor of Toronto.

You know I've been a critic of the gay pride parade in the past. I'd like it to be less commercial and more political. But I've never felt like marching more than I do this year.

Please sign the petition. Send the crass bigot a message

This city belongs to ALL the people who live here.

And we will RESIST...
