Donald Trump and the Mexican Nightmare

He launched his campaign like an angry orange Hitler on steroids, by calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists, vowing to immediately deport 11 million undocumented immigrants.

Build a great wall along the southern border, and make Mexico pay for it.

But when Donald Trump realized he was alienating moderate Republicans and his polls were starting to resemble a rapidly deflating piƱata, he decided he should moderate his image.

So off to Mexico he went...

The Day Donald Trump Declared War On His Own Country

Once upon a time Donald Trump's passionate bromance with Vladimir Putin had its comic qualities.

But not any longer. Not after this.

And what Trump said yesterday was not only dangerous and crazy.

Hillary Clinton and the Bernie Revolution

It's opening night at the Democratic Convention. And what was supposed to be Hillary Clinton's sparkly coronation is turning into a bit of a nightmare.

For even as Clinton prepares to accept her party's nomination, what was supposed to be a show of unity, and a bright contrast to Donald Trump's dark and divisive rally, is threatening to become a noisy show of disunity.

With the fate of the convention, and maybe her own fate, in the hands of the man she defeated.

Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and the Humiliation of Chris Christie

I didn't get to watch Donald Trump introduce his running mate Mike Pence yesterday.

For it is summer, and both it and life are too short.

But now I'm sorry I didn't.

Because it was Trump at his worst or most bizarre.

Donald Trump and the Road to Damnation

Well he may look like the man from Glad. But Mike Pence, Donald Trump's choice for vice president, is actually the man from God.

He defines himself as “a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican, in that order.”

And he's really bad news for women and gay people.

Donald Trump and the Money Pit

It's the ultimate irony. Donald Trump the billionaire, who is always boasting about how much money he has.

The man who claimed he could self finance his own campaign.

Now finds himself in a really embarrassing position.

Up to his big mouth in a money pit of his own making.

Donald Trump and the American Horror Story

In one of my last posts I told you how shocked most LGBT Americans were to hear themselves described as Donald Trump's newest supporters.

With that ghastly bigot now claiming that after the Orlando massacre, gay people hate Muslims as much as he does.

Even though that's nonsense.

So I'm glad to see that Hillary Clinton is trying to correct the record.

Hillary Clinton, the Millennial Generation, and the Bernie Revolution

Well she finally did it. After years of battling to return the White House where she once lived.

After years of highs and lows, and scandals real and imagined.

Hillary Clinton is now the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.

Why Donald Trump Is Suddenly Looking So Vulnerable

One of the main reasons Donald Trump is so popular, is because for so long he was given a relatively free ride.

All he had to deal with were attacks from the other Republican candidates.

And as we know they weren't much competition...

But now the general election campaign is about to get underway, the Democrats are coming after him.

And it turns out he's just not ready.

Donald Trump and the Liberal Redneck's Warning

It was only a few weeks ago that Donald Trump promised that as soon as he won the Republican nomination, he would start behaving in a more "presidential" manner.

But last week when he finally did clinch the nomination, and sent out that picture of himself celebrating on his private jet, it became only too clear that he has no intention of doing that.

Instead he declared that he's never going to change.

And in the last few days he has been on an absolute rampage.

Donald Trump and the Great Taco Bowl Stunt

It was the perfect example of why Donald Trump is almost certainly going to lose the Presidential election.

For there he was yesterday, trying to reach out to Hispanics who he has insulted, threatened to deport and build a wall to keep out.

Celebrating a Mexican holiday, by posing with a giant taco bowl. Promoting the Trump Tower Grill.

And declaring "I love Hispanics!!!!!"

Only to have the tacky taco stunt backfire almost immediately.

The New Donald Trump and Ted Cruz's Scary Attack Ad

Donald Trump has been on his best behaviour recently, as he tries to change his tone to try to look more presidential.

Donald Trump defended Saturday his method of striking a different tone at rallies than he does behind closed doors with party officials.

"When I'm in a room, talking, you're one way, when I'm out here talking to you people, I've got to be different, alright. I mean I can say basically the same thing," Trump told the crowd in Waterbury, Connecticut.

But that hasn't stopped him from going after the man he calls Lying Ted Cruz.

Will the Panama Papers Propel Bernie Sanders to Victory?

It's impossible to exaggerate the impact of the Panama Papers' scandal. It's impossible to predict how much it will shake up the world, or how many heads will roll.

Now the question who's is next? How far will the damage spread? The answer could be, quite far. This is the biggest leak in history -- one that dwarfs the amount of data released by Wikileaks in 2010. Reports say that 12 current or former heads of state are mentioned.

A second question is to what extent, in an era of rising middle-class discontent, this will fuel further anger among those who see themselves as carrying a disproportionate share of the burden in supporting a system that seems to them unfair.

But one thing is for sure, it can only help Bernie Sanders' campaign.

Donald Trump and the Accidental President

I've always had the feeling that the person most surprised by Donald Trump's meteoric rise in the polls was The Donald himself.

That in his quest to boost his reality television image, and his business profile, he launched himself into the Republican leadership race, in a half assed manner.

With the only aim being to make The Donald brand bigger or YUGER, or make up for what his daddy did to him, and of course those tiny fingers.

But was suddenly carried aloft by a massive wave of anger, which Trump in his golden towers almost certainly didn't see coming. But did know how to play it for maximum effect.

Only to find himself in the position of at least being able to dream of becoming the first accidental President.

The Bernie Revolution's Big Night of Victory

It's been an uphill battle for Bernie Sanders and his #feeltheburn followers. The Sander's campaign gets less media coverage than any of the others.

And it doesn't have the Super PAC money Hillary Clinton does.

But after last night it does have momentum on its side.
