Watching Donald Trump these days is like watching a mad man riding a roller coaster, and about to fly off the rails.
Because while sometimes he sounds supremely confident, brandishing one small poll after the other to make it sound like it just a matter of time before he turns the White House into the Gold House or the Trump Palace.
At other times he sounds desperate.
Really desperate.
Although not as desperate as Ted Cruz...
Let it never be said that Ted Cruz holds a grudge for long. Or that he will let anything get in the way of his feverish desire to be President.
Not even what's left of his dignity, his father's good name, or his wife's honour.
For after having called Donald Trump every dirty word in the book, and claiming he'd have to be a "servile puppy" to endorse him
Big Ted has rolled over like a lap dog and endorsed him anyway.
It was already the most bizarre political convention in modern American history. A third rate Nuremberg rally if ever there was one.
But for Donald Trump yesterday had to be the worst day so far.
For first he had to try to defend his wife, for the way she stole parts of her speech from Michelle Obama.
Donald Trump has been on his best behaviour recently, as he tries to change his tone to try to look more presidential.
Donald Trump defended Saturday his method of striking a different tone at rallies than he does behind closed doors with party officials.
"When I'm in a room, talking, you're one way, when I'm out here talking to you people, I've got to be different, alright. I mean I can say basically the same thing," Trump told the crowd in Waterbury, Connecticut.
But that hasn't stopped him from going after the man he calls Lying Ted Cruz.
He's still standing. He's still leading the chorus line from Hell to the Republican nomination.
But Donald Trump is looking and sounding a lot less confident these days.
And with good reason.
It was a REALLY bad week.
Just over sixteen years ago in an episode called Bart to the Future, Lisa Simpson predicted the rise of Donald Trump.
When as the newly inaugurated President of the United States she told her staff that Trump's presidency had bankrupted the country.
In a recent interview, the writer of that episode claimed it was a warning.
"It was a warning to America," writer Dan Greaney tells The Hollywood Reporter.
He adds: "And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."
And of course he was right.
A few days ago, I pointed out that Donald Trump learned most of his political skills in the wrestling ring.
That's why everything is bigger than life, or YUUUUGE.
That's why every villain is an ethnic stereotype, that's why he talks like does.
Well now he's back in the ring again.
And he's going after Ted Cruz !!!!!
Well today is Iowa Caucus day in America, and I must admit I'm a little concerned about the mental state of many of our neighbours, and where they might be going.
Because in their current fevered state ANYTHING could happen.
And to make matters worse I'm also worried about being horribly embarrassed.
For having confidently predicted that Donald Trump would NOT bring fascism to America.
Because he's too much of a blustering dickhead...
