As we all know Donald Trump has a special attraction for dictators. He likes to hang out with them, and share intimate moments with them.
And who can seriously doubt that he would LOVE to be one?
So when six months ago he tweeted out this announcement:
His terrified White House flunkies scrambled to pleasure him.
Donald Trump has always treated his country's democracy with contempt. And these days he's desperate to try to distract Americans from all his legal problems.
So while we can't know whether this is delusion or dementia, it shouldn't be surprising.
President Trump declared a national emergency at the border on Friday to access billions of dollars to build a border wall that Congress refused to give him, transforming a highly charged policy dispute into a fundamental confrontation over separation of powers.
But it is an abuse of power, and the American Caesar is going to pay a heavy price.
As soon as he stepped out of Air Force One at the Palm Beach International airport, Donald Trump couldn't hold back his joy.
After more than a month in freezing grey Washington, he was back at his beloved Mar-A-Lago.
Free to play golf and work on his tan.
Except that while his golf game is probably a little rusty.
His tan is already picture perfect.
Donald Trump likes to say that he's really good at numbers. You know, the best.
Just like he says he knows more about science than the scientists.
But whatever he says about Global WAMING, after the long government shutdown, more and more Americans now believe he either doesn't know what he's saying or doing.
Or he's cuckoo.
Or both...
The U.S. government shutdown has now being going on for more than a month, with no end in sight.
Almost a million government workers are struggling to make ends meet, with some forced to resort to food banks to feed their families.
The U.S. credit rating is threatened, and planes are threatening to fall out of the sky.
But Donald Trump is still bellowing " build my wall !!!"
And apparently, bellowing something else as well.
As you may know, I have struggled for years to try to determine what makes Donald Trump tick.
And so far my diagnosis includes extreme narcissism with a touch of paranoia, possibly aggravated by early onset dementia.
But it seems I may have overlooked a critical psychological factor, the Dunning Kruger effect.
Which makes him more dangerous, than even I had imagined.
Donald Trump has been holed up in the White House for days, in cold grey Washington, when he'd much rather be in sunny Florida playing golf.
He's still clinging feverishly to the hope that by shutting down the U.S. government he can force the Democrats to give him billions to build the Great Wall of Trump.
But he's getting nowhere, he's running out of time, the Democrats take over half of the Congress tomorrow. And as this tweet makes only too clear:
He's slowly going crazy.
There was clearly something terribly wrong with Donald Trump during his recent visit to France.
He seemed bitter, paranoid, angry. Afraid of everything, including the rain.
It was clear that the midterm election losses had hit him hard, and shattered his once lacquered confidence.
But who knew it was as bad as this?
I can only imagine what state Donald Trump must be in this weekend, after the way he reacted to the midterm election results.
Going after and then banning CNN's Jim Acosta from the White House, firing Jeff Sessions, mocking some of his own defeated Republican candidates.
Firing off inflammatory tweets like this one.
Denying that his staff used a doctored video to ban Jim Acosta.
Only to lie like a thief, again. And sound like a maniac.
Like a lot of progressives, I've always clung to the happy thought that Donald Trump would go crazy before I did.
It seemed like a no-brainer.
No President has ever disgusted so many people all over the world with his abominable ignorance, and his vulgar behaviour.
No President has scared so many people, and made them wonder to what dark place he might lead them, and how long they had to live.
So I figured it was just a matter of time before Trump cracked up, hopefully not anywhere near the nuclear button, and was carried away in a straitjacket.
It had to be one of Donald Trump's most bizarre and deeply disturbing news conferences ever.
It lasted for almost an hour and a half. Trump almost never stopped talking, jumping from one subject to another, and praising himself over and over again.
When it was over I'm sure that millions of people all over the world were left staring at their TV screens with their mouths wide open.
Wondering whether Trump had finally gone over the deep end.
For this was crazy stuff
As you know, yesterday was the 17th anniversary of the 911 terrorist attacks. A day to remember the dead, and all those who lost their loved ones.
And a day when the President of the United States is supposed to set aside his partisan instincts and act like the comforter in chief.
But sadly Donald Trump was unable to restrain himself.
And his crude behaviour shocked the nation.
I can only imagine what Donald Trump's mental state must be like, but I'm sure it's not a pretty sight.
Not after Bob Woodward in his new book Fear, claimed that Defence Secretary James Mad Dog Mattis had once lamented that Trump had the mind of a "fifth or sixth grader."
Which must have hit Trump's fragile ego, like a cruise missile in the nuts.
And not after the New York Times brought his paranoia to a boiling point by revealing that The Resistance is EVERYWHERE.
It's the most devastating portrait of a President ever written. And its title "Fear" couldn't be better chosen.
For Bob Woodward's new book about Donald Trump reveals a President and a presidency in the throes of a nervous breakdown.
And that should scare everybody.
It was his most infamous remark, the one that should have instantly disqualified Donald Trump from running for President.
The one where he claimed that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any supporters.
But somehow Trump was elected instead of arrested, or confined to a mental institution.
And now Thomas Friedman has this disturbing question.
Nobody can deny that Justin Trudeau worked really hard to try to get Donald Trump to agree to a joint statement at the G7 Summit.
No Prime Minister has ever worked harder to try to convince a madman to see reason.
And for a while he thought he had succeeded.
And that the summit that so many Canadians worked so hard to organize was a success.
But it was clear that Trump was determined to act like a spoiled baby.
Justin Trudeau's relationship with Donald Trump has always reflected our national character.
He was always polite, he tried to be as friendly as possible, but he didn't let Trump manhandle him.
And when he tried to bully him, and Canada, he finally said enough is enough.
As we all know by now, Donald Trump is a man without a moral compass, and without a discernible trace of human decency,
And this tweet on Memorial Day, the day the U.S. remembers its fallen soldiers, is more evidence of that:
And as if that wasn't bad enough then there was this...
It's a truly terrifying moment in human history. Donald Trump is vowing a massive missile strike on Syria.
And taunting the Russians.
While we wait to see whether Israel and Iran will declare war on each other and trigger an all out war in the Middle East. Or even the Third World War.
And to make matters worse, if that's possible, Trump has never sounded so crazy.
As we all know Donald Trump is becoming more and more unstable.
As the voices in his head get louder and louder.
I dare anyone to read this story and not conclude that he is losing his marbles.
And of course we all know that nobody in his cabinet is safe.
