It's been almost two days since the perfumed prince of the barbarous kingdom of Saudi Arabia, launched an insane assault on Canada for having had the nerve to stand up for human rights.
But strangely enough Con leader Andrew Scheer has yet to stand up for Canada, or say a word about the Saudi offensive.
Or maybe not so strangely, since he's not exactly a human rights champion himself.
But it does raise the disturbing question, whose side is he on?
Andrew Scheer may be the new leader of the religious right in Canada, but he seems to have as much respect for the Ten Commandments, as he does for our Canadian values.
Especially the commandment that instructs him to "not bear false witness".
So I'm glad to see that somebody has challenged this obscene article in the Toronto Star.
Blown the halo off his head, wiped his satanic smile off his face.
Well it's taken a while, but now we know why the Liberal government is so reluctant to scrap the deal to sell armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia.
Not just because it would cost thousands of jobs, in an area of Canada which has been ravaged by the collapse of our manufacturing industry.
But also because there would be a huge cancellation penalty.
Well it took a while, and as you can see the Cons weren't happy about it.
But the Trudeau government has finally buried the so-called Office of Religious Freedom.
In the last nine years I wrote more than 100 posts about the case of Omar Khadr, because I considered it one of the most shameful episodes in modern Canadian history.
And could never accept that a Canadian child soldier could be tortured and jailed in a place like Guantanamo. And abandoned by his own government.
But this will probably be my last post about him.
Not because the case is over, it isn't. The federal government is still appealing his release on bail.
But because amazingly enough it seems to have had a happy ending.
He liked to portray himself as a champion of human rights, and the leader of the war against cultural barbaric practices.
But Stephen Harper never lifted a finger to ask the barbaric regime in Saudi Arabia to stop savagely flogging the blogger Raif Badawi.
Even though his family lives in Canada...
Because he was too busy cuddling with the King and selling him armoured cars.
Stephen Harper has always been a stealthy but vicious enemy of the LGBT community.
He has voted against every bill or measure designed to protect their human rights.
He believes that being gay is just a choice.
And now I see one of his candidates is following in his master's ghastly footsteps.
And advocating the torture of gay children.
As the fireworks burst over my neighbourhood last night, and I watched the Cirque du Soleil's amazing performance at the opening ceremony of the Pan Am games, I was reminded of the country we could be.
A still young country that could dazzle the world in a peaceful beautiful way. A decent country, like the one we once were, full of hope and promise.
Not the country we have become after so many years of being degraded in every possible way by Stephen Harper and his filthy Con regime.
A rogue nation which is getting ready to be spanked by the United Nations, that we helped create, for its appalling human rights record.
The timing couldn't have been better, coming as it did two days before the 46th anniversary of the so-called Stonewall Riots in New York City...
The revolt that is principally credited as the beginning of the gay liberation movement in the United States. And is celebrated every year with pride marches all over the world.
But millions and millions of LGBT Americans still had to struggle for almost half a century against the most insane and brutish bigotry, to be granted this measure of human equality.
I don't expect much, or anything really, from the barbaric kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The home of the beheaders, and the nexus of terrorism.
But even by its brutish standards this is outrageous.
A wonderful thing may be about to happen in Ireland in just a few days.
Millions of people are preparing to take on the power of the Catholic Church, and some of the nastiest bigots you can imagine.
And make that country the first in the world to vote to approve same-sex marriage.

So you can imagine how I felt today when I read that he may finally be free.
There couldn't be a more hypocritical or nauseating spectacle, the old king of the brutish terrorist kingdom of Saudi Arabia dies.
And western leaders fall over themselves praising him. With Britain's David Cameron even ordering that flags be flown at half-mast.
While our disgusting Prime Minister Stephen Harper blubbers sympathetically.
A few days ago I wrote a post pointing out that our ghastly regime had failed to say a word about Saudi Arabia's savage flogging of the blogger Raif Badawi.
After signing a deal with that reactionary kingdom to sell it $10 billion worth of armoured cars.
Well now Harper's faithful stooge John Baird has finally said something.
But only after it was revealed that he is planning a high-level meeting with one of its most powerful princes Turki al-Faisal.
Yesterday he declared that an "international jihadist movement" had declared war on Canada.
And claimed that only he could save us.
But who will save us from his good friends the Saudis? The beating heart of the jihadist movement.
Who would flog a blogger so savagely.
Omar Khadr is Canada's most famous prisoner. Thousands of stories have been written about him all over the world.
So we know how the former child soldier was victimized by his family, the American military, and even his own government.
We know he was horribly wounded, then tortured, and that he has spent almost half his life behind bars or barbed wire.
But in those thirteen years this is the only time we ever heard his voice...
It's a trial that has caused outrage all over the world. The sentencing of three Al Jazeera journalists, including a Canadian citizen Mohamed Fahmy, to long prison terms in Egypt.
For the crime of committing journalism.
But even though world leaders have been lining up to condemn that travesty of justice.
Even though journalists all over the world have been muzzling themselves in solidarity with their jailed colleagues....
And even though the trial was an absolute farce.
Stephen Harper has remained shamefully silent. And his government's actions have been totally PATHETIC.
Like millions of others I was dazzled by the closing of the Sochi Games, for it was a spectacular display of the best that Russia has to offer.
And I was happy to see the smiles on the faces of our athletes after such a successful Olympics.
But I have to admit I really didn't feel like celebrating, not when the biggest winner of those games was the sinister thug Vladimir Putin.

Being greeted by our athletes as if he was some kind of rock star.
And they were his groupies...
They say that everything he touches he corrupts, or drags into his monstrous world.
And it must be true eh?
