Omar Khadr and the Day of Justice

I've written many posts about the case of Omar Khadr. I consider the way that Canadian child soldier was treated by his own government to be one of the worst legal travesties in modern Canadian history.

And one that should shame us all.

So I'm glad to see that he is finally going to get some justice. 

And as usual, I am disgusted by the reaction of Cons like Jason Kenney. 

When the Pentagon Claims that Bombing a Hospital is Not a War Crime

On the night of October 3, 2015 A U.S. AC-130 gunship attacked a hospital in the Afghan city of Kunduz, run by the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders.

And despite frantic calls from MSF doctors kept up its attack for half an hour.

Forty two staff members and patients were killed, many of them burned to death in their beds.

But today the Pentagon released a report claiming that murderous assault was not a war crime.

For most of his 29 years Omar Khadr's life has been an absolute nightmare.

Dragged off to Afghanistan, caught up in the horror of war, badly wounded, jailed and tortured in Guantanamo, abandoned by his own government.

And his struggle for justice continues.

But now at last it seems that horror story will have a happy ending.

In the last nine years I wrote more than 100 posts about the case of Omar Khadr, because I considered it one of the most shameful episodes in modern Canadian history.

And could never accept that a Canadian child soldier could be tortured and jailed in a place like Guantanamo. And abandoned by his own government.

But this will probably be my last post about him.

Not because the case is over, it isn't. The federal government is still appealing his release on bail.

But because amazingly enough it seems to have had a happy ending. 

The Con Media's Insane War on Justin Trudeau

As you know the Cons, led by the flying chicken hawk Jason Kenney, have been trying to use the massacre in Paris to go after Justin Trudeau.

Accusing him of letting down the side, or siding with the terrorists, for his decision to end our bombing campaign in Iraq and Syria. And focus instead on better and more Canadian ways to help defeat ISIS.

And what makes it even worse, is that the Con media is going after Trudeau for the same reason.

Like bats out of hell...

The Paris Massacre and the Monstrosity of the Cons

What a difference a day makes. One moment I'm celebrating the restoration of Canada, and the return of hope and optimism

And the next moment I'm holding my head with both hands, and mumbling oh no not again. 

And wondering who are those bestial religious fanatics who would slaughter the innocent, and then blow themselves up happily?

And as if that wasn't horrible enough, then there was the Con media in this country, trying to use that tragedy to attack Justin Trudeau.

Jason Kenney and Lynton Crosby's New and Dangerous Wedge Issue

Well don't say I didn't warn you. In one of my last posts I wrote that Jason Kenney would go absolutely wild at the thought that Justin Trudeau was going after the so-called ethnic vote. 

And yesterday that's exactly what he did, 

In a grotesque three-act performance or freak show that began with him trying to smear Trudeau in a way that couldn't be more bizarre or obscene. 

Stephen Harper and the Great Con Debate Fiasco

As we all know Stephen Harper was hoping to torpedo the political leaders's debates, by boycotting the ones organized by the big three tv networks. The ones that millions of Canadians watch.

And replacing them with a series of smaller debates, with friendlier moderators, on channels that hardly anyone watches.

And hoping that the big three networks would cancel their debates, because he wouldn't be there.

But sadly for him his bluff has been called. 

Stephen Harper and the Creeping Militarization of Canada

In my last post I showed you yet another example of how Stephen Harper is trying to militarize our culture.

By having such gentle and iconic Canadian traditions like the RCMP Musical Ride, compete in the same arena with a sinister SWAT show...



Complete with armoured cars, explosions, and even a prisoner to carry off in handcuffs.

And yesterday's Canada Day show on Parliament Hill was more of the same. With more soldiers and police officers than you could count. A twenty-one gun salute.

Stephen Harper, the Terrorists, and the Canadian Demockery

Well it's been three days since Stephen Harper and his Cons teamed up with the beasts from ISIS to make that ghastly attack ad.

And even though it starts with the sinister ISIS national anthem, and goes downhill from there, they still haven't been arrested for promoting terrorist propaganda. 

The Anti-terrorism Act makes it an indictable offence to knowingly advocate or promote terrorism in general, and allows a judge to issue a warrant to seize terrorist propaganda. Under the law, “terrorist propaganda” means any writing, video or audio that promotes the commission of terrorism offences in general or counsels the commission of an offence.

Even though Harper is a repeat offender.

Stephen Harper and the Great Failing Con War on Terror

I don't know if you've noticed, but Stephen Harper has suddenly stopped talking about the Great War on Terror, and the Great Terrorist Menace.

These days he wants to project a  kinder gentler image as a Great Friend of Children Leader.

So now almost every photo-op features a group of bored kids in the background...



But of course, there's a good reason for that. He is desperate.

And The Great War on Terror is going badly disastrously. 

Stephen Harper's Depraved Attempt to Revive the Terrorist Menace

As you know Stephen Harper and Jason Kenney made a surprise visit to Iraq, to try to whip up interest in the Great War on Terror. 

Which has been flagging badly as the days get warmer and most Canadians tune it out.

And as the war fever fades, so do fears about the Great Terrorist Menace. 

Especially since the ISIS crazies have yet to attack us, despite all Harper and Kenney have done to provoke an attack, by blowing hot air out of every orifice...



So the Cons are now so desperate they're going after Omar Khadr. Again. 

Stephen Harper, Bill C-51 and the Virtual Prison

He must be so excited. In just a few more days his monstrous anti-terrorist bill C-51 will become law, Canada will become a police state.

And he can start going after all his enemies real or imagined. For by now in the final stages of his mental and moral degeneration, his paranoia knows no limit.

And his depraved desire to jail even more Canadians can barely be restrained. 

But if he thinks he is going to get away with it he is sadly mistaken, as tens of thousands of people all over Canada made clear again yesterday. 

The Day Stephen Harper Was Called an Idiot by Tom Mulcair

Ever since he came to power Stephen Harper has made a mockery out of our parliament.

He has used it as a bully pulpit, he has cut off debates, he never answers questions, he lies all the time. He has turned it into a bad joke, or a fascist circus.

But yesterday when he was asked about the legality of his new war in Syria, and he turned his answer into a joke.

He got put in his place by Tom Mulcair...

Stephen Harper and the Politics of Madness

Well so much for Great Strong Leader, who would try to brainwash into believing that all we need to do to feel safe is to trust our fate to HIM.

Trust that only HE can stop the terrorist hordes from beheading us in our beds. 

And allow HIM to turn Canada into a police state. 

So we can feel even safer...



But now it turns out you don't just need Great Leader to feel safe, 

You also need a gun in the house. 

Is Stephen Harper Fighting Terrorism or Promoting It?

As we know Stephen Harper would have us believe that the "international jihadist movement" has declared war on Canada.

That there is no greater threat to our lives and our values. And of course, that only he can save us from being beheaded in our beds.

But unfortunately for him, the facts don't back up that argument. And this burning question must be asked:

Is he fighting the international jihadist conspiracy, or helping to promote it?

The Day Canadians Sent a Message to the Terror Cons

It was cold, wet, and miserable across most of Canada today. A day to stay at home if ever there was one.

But that didn't stop tens of thousands of Canadians from turning out to send a message to Stephen Harper and his foul Con regime.

We are not afraid, and Bill C-51 must be KILLED. 

Jason Kenney Disgraces Himself Again

Yesterday I confidently predicted that Jason Kenney would be the worst Defence Minister this country has ever known.

And I accused him of being a holy hypocrite, for claiming he was reaching out to Muslims in this country. While subtly working to whip up hate against them, for crass political purposes.

And sure enough now I see he has proved me right.

The Parliament Hill Gunman, and the Madness of the Con Regime

More than four months after Michael Zehaf-Bibeau stormed Parliament Hill, the RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson has finally released the video the gunman made shortly before he was killed.

Or at least most of the video...



Minus the eighteen seconds the RCMP removed, but will not explain why.

And what is only too clear is that while Zehaf-Bibeau was obviously a terrorist, or a murderer with a cause, this was no terrorist conspiracy. 

Stephen Harper and the Fake War on Sexual Offenders

From the moment Stephen Harper and his Con zombies came to power they have been  loudly proclaiming, or moaning and wailing, that only they can protect Canadian children.

And that anybody who doesn't agree with them must be a sexual predator.

But like so many other things the Con regime does, it is all posturing.

They really are zombies.

And their dangerous incompetence knows no limits.
