For many months Andrew Scheer has been making a fool out of himself by trying to scare Canadians with the idea of a carbon tax.
But it's just not working, the economy is too strong.
Unemployment is lower than it has been in forty years, and the good news just keeps on coming.
So a desperate Scheer has been forced to crawl through the gutter in a desperate attempt to kick the fear factor up a notch.
There are now just three weeks to go before the election that will decide the fate of Canada, and we find out whether it will live or die.
And it's hard to escape a feeling of foreboding now that we know for sure how Stephen Harper and his twisted Aussie gremlin Lynton Crosby are hoping to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
By having Harper pose a Great Warrior Leader, the sheriff of the manly men Con posse, who would PROTECT us all the dangers of the world, from economic catastrophe to an invasion of refugees and hookers.
Even though we all know the nerd Harper couldn't be less of a warrior, or more of a coward...
Well don't say I didn't warn you. In one of my last posts I wrote that Jason Kenney would go absolutely wild at the thought that Justin Trudeau was going after the so-called ethnic vote.
And yesterday that's exactly what he did,
In a grotesque three-act performance or freak show that began with him trying to smear Trudeau in a way that couldn't be more bizarre or obscene.
Well there was Stephen Harper yesterday, trying to show he's really a nice guy, by releasing a lobster over the side of a fishing boat.
But of course for the real story of that photo-op, you'd have to read this account of that media nightmare.
To understand that in Harperland nothing is what it seems to be.
And that his phoney Mr Nice Guy act didn't last long either.
Because now he's back to peddling the politics of fear.
It has been several days since the Harper regime suspended the federal scientist Tony Turner for writing and singing the song Harperman.
And as expected it has triggered a debate over whether public servants can be political activists.
And while some Cons claim they can't, and that they must remain loyal to their monstrous master.
The Supreme Court settled that question twenty-four years ago.
The other night I wrote about Stephen Harper's disgusting attack on Tom Mulcair and Justin Trudeau at a Con BBQ at the Calgary Stampede.
Where he accused both leaders of being terrorist stooges, claimed they were out of it, that we were all in terrible danger of being beheaded in our beds or drowned in cages. And that only he could save us.
Which needless to say was simply appalling, and made me question his sanity again. And whether he's still fit to remain in office.
But what I didn't know was that ghastly performance was followed by another.
I can only imagine the state Stephen Harper must be in this weekend. Because it can't be pretty.
Not after being he was forced to promise changes to his anti-terrorist bill. The one he claimed, so long and so loudly, didn't need to be changed.
And not after the evidence keeps growing that his war and fear campaign just isn't working.
He's been keeping a low profile recently, no doubt huddling with his gargoyles in the PMO, feverishly planning his next move, and who he will be tomorrow.
Mr Nice or Mr Ugly.
But then who can blame him eh? Because by now he must be desperate.
Benjamin Netanyahu is as any decent person knows, a brutish right-wing demagogue, a racist, and a war criminal.
And his victory in yesterday's Israeli election couldn't be more tragic.
Or have left the Middle East and his own country more deeply wounded.
Oh boy. It's so hard to keep up with Stephen Harper and all the voices in his head.
One moment he's urging people in rural areas to get a gun to protect themselves if they don't live near a police station.
The next moment he's claiming he's NOT supporting vigilantism.
It was cold, wet, and miserable across most of Canada today. A day to stay at home if ever there was one.
But that didn't stop tens of thousands of Canadians from turning out to send a message to Stephen Harper and his foul Con regime.
We are not afraid, and Bill C-51 must be KILLED.
As you know, I have a dream. One that I hold tightly to my chest in this dark Harperland, where hope goes to die.
The dream of defeating Stephen Harper and his foul Cons who are trying to scare Canadians into voting for them.
By helping to create a Great Stop Harper movement, and using hope to conquer fear.
So I was glad to see Bruce Anderson ask this question: is it too much to ask our politicians to inspire us?
Well as you know Stephen Harper has been busy trying to crank up the Fear Factor in his Great War on Terror.
By spreading terrorist propaganda on his Facebook site, to try to scare Canadians into voting for him. While he turns Canada into a police state with his dangerously flawed Bill C-51.
But unfortunately for him and his ghastly Cons, his crass performance is a little too obvious.
And it's getting some really bad reviews.
I always knew he was a political thug. I wouldn't have fought him so hard and so long if I didn't think he was the worst Prime Minister this country has ever known.
But now of course he is even worse.
For as Jeffrey Simpson points out, now he is exploiting personal tragedy and making terror his monstrous mantra.
Well let nobody say I didn't warn them. I predicted Jason Kenney would be the worst possible Defence Minister for these troubled times.
I knew that sexually repressed religious fanatic would be inflamed by a religious war, and the sight of so many men in uniform.
And would soon lose control of himself, start shooting his mouth off, and trying to turn our mini-war in Iraq into an all-out crusade.
Well I'm sure Stephen Harper must have had a tortured weekend, huddled with the monsters in the PMO, and arguing with the screaming voices in his head.
Trying to figure out how to scare Canadians with his Great Jihadi Menace, even more than he already has. So he can herd them into voting for him, and win another bloody majority.
But of course Harper himself is the greatest threat this country faces. His behaviour since his harrowing ordeal in that closet must make many question his sanity.
And as Michael Harris writes, he is leading us into the darkness of disaster democracy.
Even for a man like Stephen Harper with so many screaming voices in his head, it was an astonishing transformation. Something right out of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
One moment he was telling a a group of young people in BC about how he planned to create gazillions of jobs for them. And purring like a kitten.
The next moment he was raving like a maniac, and declaring that we were all under attack and threatening to turn us into a police state.
As I've mentioned several times recently, I've never seen this country so paranoid and so fearful.
So that even a small marine police exercise in the bay the other day, had some people wondering whether the terrorists were coming.
The ones Stephen Harper would have us believe would behead us in our bedrooms.
Which helps explain why I've never seen him look so happy, and yet so deranged...
To see the Fear Factor glowing red, even on Parliament Hill.
Well there he was at the funeral of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, the humble soldier who served his country so long and so well.
And where his sister tried to rescue some humanity from her brother's senseless death with this moving message.
“Patrice’s message is to go home tonight, look at those who contribute to your happiness, to your life, and have gratitude for the love they give you, for the help they give you,” she said.
“And he would tell you also ‘Love them, share with them your help in the way you can.’ And this was what Patrice was doing, trying to be a better man every day of his life. .
Only to have Stephen Harper ruin the uplifting mood with a snarling message of his own.
Well I'm glad Halloween is over, because it really is a challenge trying to scare people in Harperland.
Where every day is Halloween and scarier than the day before.
Especially if you're forced to run or hop around in a bunny suit that's at least two sizes too small. And people laugh at you instead of scream.
But while I recover from last night's events, I thought I'd show you a few Halloween pictures and ask YOU to decide which one is scarier.
