I must admit I didn't think that the fake WE scandal would have any effect on the Liberal party standings, or on the popularity of Justin Trudeau.
It's so obviouly a manufactured scandal, and the only reason it lasted more than a day was because the Con media made it sound like the biggest story in the world.
I thought that Canadians would understand that, and also recognize the excellent work Trudeau has been doing to lead us through a deadly pandemic.
But sadly I was wrong.
As I'm sure you know, Jody Wilson-Raybould has been refusing to vacate a suite of offices on Parliament Hill that were assigned to her when she was a cabinet minister.
Even though now she's just a humble independent MP, and the new minister and his staff need them.
She didn't say no, she just didn't budge. She even had the place blessed.
The new Common's Speaker said he was prepared to evict her, if necessary.
For a moment it looked like it could end badly.
For more than two years the CBC program Power and Politics has been a television playground for Andrew Scheer and his foul Cons.
A place where Vassy Kapelos and her mostly right wing panellists use one fake scandal after the other to try to destroy Justin Trudeau, while allowing Scheer to corrupt our democracy with one big lie after the other.
Well now Gassy and her gang are at it again.
Trying to turn a gossipy 25 second video into a huge, or yuuuuuuge fake scandal.
In one of my last posts I wrote about Andrew Scheer's bizarre performance after emerging from a bruising seven-hour caucus meeting.
And how he tried to convince us that his Cons were united, and that he was really a winner not a loser.
Which didn't really surprise me. They don't call him a serial liar for nothing eh?
But what did surprise me, was the way the Con media is going after him.
I have never had much respect for David Akin, Global News' Chief political correspondent.
Not since he worked at Sun TV News, where Ezra Levant also worked, and first looked like a Con desperately seeking a Senate seat.
But recently his Con bias has escalated out of control, to a point that two weeks ago he actually had the nerve to tell Justin Trudeau that he should resign.
The Con media were so sure their latest fake scandal would be the end of Justin Trudeau.
They couldn't stop writing or squawking about it. It was pouring out of their every orifice.
But now suddenly they have fallen silent, and the reason is only too obvious.
For a few days you couldn't read a newspaper, or watch a TV news program without seeing this picture of Justin Trudeau dressed up as Aladdin.
As one member of the Con media after the other tried to smear Trudeau as a racist. And some like the Con hack David Akin even suggested he should resign.
But now the first serious polls are in and we are starting to get an idea of what ordinary Canadians thought of this biased onslaught.
And the Cons, and their stooge media must be really disappointed.
I watched Justin Trudeau's town hall in Saskatoon last night, and I have never been more impressed with our prime minister.
Not just because of the brilliant way he handled the questions from the more than 600 people in the auditorium.
But also because he's still looking good, or still alive, after the grotesque onslaught from our grubby Con media.
Which included this outrageous suggestion that he should resign from the Con hack David Akin.
I've always amused myself by portraying the right-wing Trudeau hating columnist Margaret Wente as Marie Antoinette.
I can't remember why I started portraying her that way, but it was probably because of her snooty approach to everything.
But at any rate, I'm happy to report that our Marie Wente will keep her head.
But she is losing her job.
As you may have noticed, Andrew Scheer has been trying to remake the image of him and his Cons.
Trying to convince Canadians that he's really a nice guy.
Not the man commonly known as Schmearmonger, the depraved leader of the most bigoted party in modern Canadian history.
But unfortunately for Schmear, his record speaks for itself, and ugly is ugly.
In the course of her long and sordid career Margaret Wente has written some terrible stories.
In her inimitable style, half click bait, half snooty Marie Antoinette.
Some written by her, some plagiarized.
But I do believe that this could be her worst column ever.
There is a bridge near the Scottish town of Dumbarton that has a terrifying reputation.
For it is said that hundreds of dogs have leaped over its sides for no apparent reason, only to end up dead in the rocky gorge below.
Since it is Scotland one can't be sure who or what is to blame, furry creatures like mink moving around in the gorge, or a ghost that is said to haunt a nearby mansion.
But I was interested to see that somebody has compared the phenomenon to the hysteria sparked by the fake scandal.
Ever since the SNC-Lavalin affair erupted, I have been complaining about the way the Con media have hyped the story, and kept it alive far beyond its best before date.
With a never-ending torrent of biased stories clearly aimed at trying to use Jody Wilson-Raybould to destroy Justin Trudeau.
Which in my opinion is a far bigger story than the so-called fake scandal, for it threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
And could help elect Andrew Scheer and his far-right Cons, who are a mortal threat to this country and its values.
But I had to admit that I didn't really understand the monstrous size of the problem, until I read this.
Ever since the fake scandal erupted, I've sometimes felt like that other Simon in William Golding's Lord of the Flies. The one who could see what others couldn't, or didn't want to see.
The one who knew who the real monster was.
Because for me the real monster was the way the Con media covered the story, with a feverish one-sided assault on Justin Trudeau, so biased and so sweaty with toxic Trudeau hatred it was practically pornographic.
And worse, because this one-sided hysterical coverage did not reflect the views of most Canadians, that gaping disconnect also struck me as totalitarian in nature, and a threat to our democracy.
So I'm really glad to see somebody in the MSM finally call out the monster.
Gosh, I can only imagine the state Andrew Scheer must be in today, along with his grubby media stooges, and other toxic Trudeau haters all over the country.
I swear I can hear them wailing all over the country.
Where's a waaahmbulance when you need one?
But then who can blame those poor old losers?
Well the fake scandal is now more than a month old, and it's starting to look its age. A little wizened, a little flaky, a little green around the gills
But if you thought it might finally keel over, or return to its crypt, before it drives most decent Canadians crazy.
Well I'm sorry to say you're going to be disappointed.
For the creepy Cons and the slobbering Con media would like it to continue for at least another eight months, or all the way to the next election.
The fake scandal may be withering on the vine, or slowly starting to rot, but the Con media are still trying to bring it back to life.
Still huffing and puffing or gnawing on Trudeau's socks, in what has to be one of the most disgusting spectacles in modern Canadian history.
So I was glad to see the Inuit leader Natan Obed teach them some manners.
Sometimes I think that Justin Trudeau is too decent and too nice to be the leader of a big country with so many little people, and so many dirty old men.
But at least he didn't apologize this morning for this grotesque scandal.
For he has nothing to apologize for.
As I said on Twitter this morning, these are the ones who are entirely responsible.
I'm having trouble trying to characterize the feverish dance of the Con media around the blazing bonfire of the fake scandal.
Is it something out of Lord of the Flies where the shabby stooges dance stagger around demanding the head of Justin Trudeau?
Or is it some kind of horrible mental condition you can contract in the incestuous village of Ottawa at the end of a very long winter?
I don't know, I'm not a psychiatrist, but one thing is for sure; the disconnect between the media and the people they are supposed to serve has never been greater.
Ever since Jody Wilson-Raybault told what she called "her truth" to the Justice Commission, I have found the way the MSM has covered her allegations far more disturbing than the fake scandal itself.
For while I very much doubt that the scandal alone, will have any effect on the October election; it's too small and Justin Trudeau is still too popular.
The media coverage in my opinion has been so hyped, so bad, and so biased I believe it threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
And these questions need urgent answers.
