As I'm sure you know, Jody Wilson-Raybould has been refusing to vacate a suite of offices on Parliament Hill that were assigned to her when she was a cabinet minister.
Even though now she's just a humble independent MP, and the new minister and his staff need them.
She didn't say no, she just didn't budge. She even had the place blessed.
The new Common's Speaker said he was prepared to evict her, if necessary.
For a moment it looked like it could end badly.
As we all know Jody Wilson-Raybould has always had a very high opinion of herself. So high in fact that some say she believes that she should be Prime Minister, not Justin Trudeau.
And who can forget how for months during the SNC "scandal," the Con media hung on her every word, made her look like a secular saint, and inflated her ego like a hot air balloon?
So naturally, she has a highly developed sense of entitlement.
But this is beyond belief.
I've always been amused at the way some people deify Jody Wilson-Raybould. How they worship her as a living god.
Or claim that only she knows The Truth.
Well here's some truth, but hold that halo.
In my last post I looked at how Justin Trudeau's poll numbers had finally recovered from the so-called fake scandal.
And I expressed the fond hope that I would never have to hear from the two Connies Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott again.
Then this happened.
And to my horror the fake scandal was back !!!
I thought we had seen the last of her for a long long time. I thought she had been swallowed up by the obscurity she so richly deserves.
I thought she would take the clattering pans of her fake scandal and bang them in a place where no decent person could hear her.
I thought she might be ashamed at the damage she has done to this country.
But I was wrong, she has no shame, and believe it or not, Jody Wilson-Raybould is back !!!
I realize that Jane Philpott is a medical doctor, and that like other doctors she has no doubt brought back to life some patients who appear at first glance to be dead.
But her political career flatlined a long time ago, and what's left of it is turning green.
So this is ridiculous.
As I'm sure you know I have no time at all for Jody Wilson-Raybould. I never believed she was a saint, or a martyr to truth and justice.
Just a shabby Con tool in Liberal clothing.
And an aggressive self promoter, who with the help of the Con media, orchestrated a fake scandal to try to make Justin Trudeau pay for shuffling her out of her dream job.
But if this story is true, she really has hit rock bottom.
For weeks they waged war on their own government and their own leader Justin Trudeau.
They plotted and coordinated their activities to try to cause maximum damage. They were the darlings of the Con media, who cheered them on wildly, and used them to smear Trudeau.
And of course they were the useful idiots of Andrew Scheer and his far-right extremists, who were hoping their fake scandal would make him and his monstrous Cons the new masters of Canada.
But despite that the two Connies got away with it for what seemed like forever. Until at last their luck ran out yesterday.
Ever since the SNC-Lavalin affair erupted, I have been complaining about the way the Con media have hyped the story, and kept it alive far beyond its best before date.
With a never-ending torrent of biased stories clearly aimed at trying to use Jody Wilson-Raybould to destroy Justin Trudeau.
Which in my opinion is a far bigger story than the so-called fake scandal, for it threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
And could help elect Andrew Scheer and his far-right Cons, who are a mortal threat to this country and its values.
But I had to admit that I didn't really understand the monstrous size of the problem, until I read this.
I've been enjoying a brief blogging break; taking time off to give my injured right arm time to heal.
And in my free time doing nothing much more than waiting for Spring to arrive.
For it's still not here, it's still too cold, and it's going to snow tonight,
Which makes me wish I was in Scotland, where even in the moody highlands my family tells me, the crocuses are blooming.
I shouldn't really be blogging. My right hand is in a cast, I can't write properly with my other hand, and the pain killers are making me woozy.
But I would be in even more pain if I didn't write something about the latest chapter in the fake scandal.
Because it must surely horrify every decent Canadian.
I suppose that it was this photo of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott holding court at the Chateau Laurier, that finally tipped off the media.
Made some of them realize that the two women were carefully orchestrating events to keep the fake scandal in the news.
And that, as Susan Delacourt says, it's a well organized campaign.
In the seven weeks since the fake scandal erupted, the MSM's chosen role has been to act as its giddy cheerleaders.
But now some are starting to notice that Jody Wilson-Rabould and Jane Philpott seem to be playing some kind of weird game.
And like most Canadians some are starting to say enough is enough.
I've been trying very hard to ignore Jody Wilson-Raybould and her best buddy Jane Philpott, because like most Canadians I'm sick to death of the fake scandal.
Which in my opinion has now reached such a level of absurdity, it's starting to resemble an episode of mass psychosis.
I should add that I've also done my best to ignore the persistent rumour that the two women are involved in some kind of bizarre plot to topple Justin Trudeau, and make Wilson-Raybould Prime Minister.
For I thought that was not just absurd, it was laughable.
And then I saw this.
Sometimes I think that Justin Trudeau is too decent and too nice to be the leader of a big country with so many little people, and so many dirty old men.
But at least he didn't apologize this morning for this grotesque scandal.
For he has nothing to apologize for.
As I said on Twitter this morning, these are the ones who are entirely responsible.
Gerald Butts looks like such a gentle, soft spoken man, it's hard to imagine he's the son of a coal miner from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
And during his testimony before the justice committee today he never once lost his temper, or raised his voice.
But what he did do very effectively was blow the fake scandal out of the water.
The resignation of Jane Philpott is a big political blow to the Liberal government.
And a sad day for me, since she was the cabinet minister I most admired.
I'll never forget this story about the death of her young child Emily in the Niger Republic.
And for that and other reasons, she'll will always remain in my Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
But having said that, I don't believe that her resignation will breathe much life into what is still a fake scandal, for the following reasons.
Ever since Jody Wilson-Raybault told what she called "her truth" to the Justice Commission, I have found the way the MSM has covered her allegations far more disturbing than the fake scandal itself.
For while I very much doubt that the scandal alone, will have any effect on the October election; it's too small and Justin Trudeau is still too popular.
The media coverage in my opinion has been so hyped, so bad, and so biased I believe it threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
And these questions need urgent answers.
I finally got to watch the whole tape of Jody Wilson-Raybould's appearance before the House of Commons Justice Committee. Or at least most of it, for it went on beyond the limits of human endurance.
And although I thought she put in an Oscar winning performance with this line being my favourite:
“I come from a long line of matriarchs and I am a truth teller in accordance with the laws and traditions of our Big House — this is who I am and who I will always be.”
I was not impressed with the content of her presentation.
And whatever the Con media says, I still think it's a ridiculously overblown fake scandal for the following reasons.
Lordy. What a difference a day makes. One moment the press gallery hacks in Ottawa were in a feverish state of arousal.
They thought the fake scandal, the one they had manufactured out of a flimsy anonymous sourced story in the Globe and Mail, and blown up like a balloon until they were blue in the face, was about to destroy Justin Trudeau.
They thought the justice committee hearings would finish him off, please their corporate masters, and maybe even save their jobs.
But then, as you know, along came Michael Wernick...
