When Ezra Levant organized an anti-carbon tax rally on the steps of the Alberta legislature last Sunday, he was no doubt hoping it would make him a force to be reckoned with in that province, and a ton of money.
Not necessarily in that order.
But as we all know it all went horribly wrong, when Chris Alexander managed to inflame the Rebel mob into chanting "lock her up, lock her up."
And Levant's ugly rally was condemned by decent people all over Canada.
So now the self styled "Rebel Commander" is furious.
As you may know, the story of Chris Alexander has always reminded me of the Oscar Wilde story The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Where the portrait of the once promising young diplomat morphs into something monstrous, after he sells his soul to Stephen Harper.
Well yesterday that portrait became even uglier, if that's possible.
After Alexander disgraced himself again.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend. It's going to be warm and sunny, and perfect for biking, or sailing.
And on Sunday, in this park in my neighbourhood, there is going to be a big book fair with lots of authors and artists. So it couldn't be better, or more lovely Canada.
But I can't forget what's happening to so many people in this nightmare place.
And ever since I found out that Chris Alexander and Kellie Leitch will be reuniting.
I can't help wondering what might have happened to some of the Syrian refugees now living in this peaceful country if the Cons had been re-elected?
The other day I wrote about how Kellie Leitch's "Anti-Canadian Values" campaign had brought back memories of the Chris and Kellie show.
The barbaric Con production where Leitch and Chris Alexander demonized Muslims, and invited Canadians to snitch on their neighbours.
And it was such an ugly memory, I remember thinking thank goodness that show was cancelled, and that those two will never be together again.
But sadly I was wrong. Because it seems that the Chris and Kellie show is on again.
He has been keeping a low profile after voters in his riding gave him the boot, for having among other things poisoned our body politic, with his callous approach to the Syrian refugee crisis, his divisive, bigoted rhetoric.
And his ghastly Barbaric Cultural Practices campaign complete with a snitch line, which shamed us in the eyes of the world.
But now Chris Alexander is back on the street, and if you thought he might be just a little bit sorry about the barbaric way he behaved, you'd be wrong.
He's totally unrepentant.
You might think that the ghastly Con stooge Chris Alexander might have learned his lesson.
You might think that buried deep inside his lizard brain there might be a sputtering spark of decency.
But no, just a few days ago he was going after Syrian refugees.
Now he's going after a woman who wears a niqab.
After keeping a low profile for a few days, and no doubt trying to forget the ghastly image of that poor little boy on the beach, he's out there again.
Cheerfully tweeting away...
And giving us a big thumbs up.
But in his private moments Chris Alexander must be haunted by the ghost of Alan Kurdi.
Because it turns out Alexander knew much more about the plight of the Kurdi family, and what led to that tragedy, than he has ever admitted.
It couldn't have been a more revolting spectacle, or one more monstrous.
The heartbreaking image of that poor little Syrian boy lying dead on a beach.
And three Con monkeys in denial.
All shedding crocodile tears, but claiming to be blameless.
Even as their campaign went into crisis mode.
Many hours after I first saw it, I am still haunted by this photo of that poor little Syrian boy washed up on a Turkish beach.
And by the knowledge that his refugee family begged the ghastly Chris Alexander to let them emigrate to Canada. But got absolutely nowhere.
But while I'm disgusted I'm not really surprised. For Alexander, like all the other Cons, are just cowardly stooges of their depraved master.
And Stephen Harper would rather talk about WAR.
Stephen Harper stood in the middle of a too-small-for-the-crowd hotel meeting room in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and tapped the notes on the lectern in front of him in time with his words.
"Canada is not immune to jihadist terrorism," he said. "Two [tap] brave soldiers [tap] dead [tap] on our own [tap] soil [tap]."
For crass political purposes.
"If you cannot even bring yourself to call jihadist terrorism what it is, then you cannot be trusted to confront it, and you cannot be trusted to keep Canadians safe from it."
At this, Harper received his most enthusiastic response from the crowd, which erupted into an ovation and calls of "Four more years. Four more years."
To pleasure his rabid base, and his own monstrous instincts...
And try to scare Canadians into voting for him, because fear is all he has left.
Even though he himself admits our puny for show war is faltering. Even though everybody knows that religious conflict will only be settled by the ground forces of those who live in that region.
And even though it was the insanity of war that caused this human catastrophe in the first place. The criminal invasion of Iraq, that he supported, is what led to the rise of ISIS.
And the bombing of Libya helped turn that country into a paradise for some of the world's most dangerous terrorist groups. And no safe haven for all those now seeking to escape to Europe.
But what horrifies me the most about the criminal Con regime is the way they mock those who would act like Canadians and seek to help those desperate refugees.
Like they do in this hideous attack ad aimed at Justin Trudeau...
But then again, why should we be surprised? When as Frances Russell points out this is a government that is really at war with Canada, its values and its democracy.
They have trampled on virtually every tenet of British parliamentary democracy and hacked, slashed and abolished vital national programs, storied institutions and highly respected civil society organizations simply because they disagreed and disliked them.
On the international stage they have sullied Canada’s reputation as a one of the world’s most esteemed democracies by ignoring science in their pursuit of re-making Canada into a freewheeling sole-source hinterland to serve the global oil and gas industry regardless of the costs to the environment; appropriated big portions of Canada’s identity and institutions for their own political and electoral purposes and grafted American governmental forms onto Canada’s parliamentary democracy determined to twist it out of shape – and – all without the slightest consultation or regard for the sensibilities of many Canadians.
This is a government that is philosophically and genuinely hostile to the nation and people it seeks to govern.
And Russell is right about this too.
As October 19 gets closer, Liberals and New Democrats should stop the petty blood feud they love to carry on over petty and marginal policy distinctions without genuine differences.
Otherwise, Canadians will be subjected to another four years of a government determined to dismantle the Canada most Canadians know and cherish and hope to pass on to their children and grandchildren.
Now is not the time to fight each other, now is the time to stand up for Canada.
You know, I used to be so proud of this country, and its humble but noble role in the world.
But if I has been on that Turkish beach, and had gently picked up that poor little child who never knew anything but war in his short life...
And if I had known that the Cons might have been able to save him and his brother and mother, but didn't even try. I would have wept with sorrow AND shame.
Because I dream of a better Canada, and the day when we are free at last.
And until that glorious day this is my army.
Those are my heroes, the healers not the killers, who are standing up for my values.
And Stephen Harper can keep his war, and shove the fear factor where the sun don't shine.
Or keep it company in his closet...
Because he will never scare me.
Unite to defeat that monster.
And take back our Canada...

Except in this story Dorian is Chris, and his portrait starts to turn monstrous after the once young bright diplomat sells his soul to Stephen Harper.
And today I have another scary chapter in that horror story.
Which begins when Alexander is interviewed, appropriately enough, by Vice Magazine.
Ever since he was made a minister I've made it pretty clear what I think of Chris Alexander.
How he reminds of the character in The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Who after selling his soul to Stephen Harper, morphed from a promising young diplomat into a ghastly Con monster...
But who knew he was so incompetent?
As I have mentioned before, the story of Chris Alexander reminds me in some ways of the Oscar Wilde story The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Where the portrait of the bright, boyishly handsome diplomat, morphs into something monstrous.
After he sells his soul to the devil, or in his case Stephen Harper.
And sure enough, in the latest chapter of Chrissy's descent into darkness, the picture grows even uglier.
Oh boy. I guess it's because we are winter. And this one has gone on for too long.
For what else could explain the grotesque sight of the ratty Chris Alexander, scurrying out of his PMO briefing.
To accuse Justin Trudeau of being a dangerous communist.
Ever since he came to power he has been stealthily gnawing away at the fabric of our country.
Waiting until we are asleep, or distracted, to gobble up another little bleeding chunk of what was once Canada.
But what Stephen Harper has done in just the last week, is now threatening to kill our democracy.
The other night I wrote about how disgusted I was to see Chris Alexander, the Con Immigration Minister, go after Deb Matthews, the Health Minister of Ontario, like a schoolyard bully.
For the "crime" of standing up for the right of refugee claimants to receive health care.
And I quoted this paragraph from a column by Carol Goar, that summed up what he has become.
He had the talent, the knowledge, the international experience and the diplomatic skill to be an exemplary minister of citizenship and immigration. He chose instead to use his power to crack down on sick, vulnerable people.
Only to see today that Alexander has gone after Goar...
They say that everything he touches he corrupts, or drags into his monstrous world.
And it must be true eh?
Because just look at the sad and pathetic case of Chris Alexander.
Once he had half a reputation, then it started to unravel, now he's just another callous Con.
OMG. Run for your lives. It's the octopus monster from outer space, or the Creature from the Con Lagoon.
And it seems like NOTHING can stop Jason Kenney !!!!
Two weeks ago I told you how he was refusing to give up his old job, and humiliating not one but TWO new Con ministers.
And now he's done it AGAIN !!!!
I always knew Jason Kenney was a man of many faces eh?
Some hidden and some not.
I always knew he was extremely vain and incredibly ambitious.
But who knew he was so inflated with his own sense of self importance, that he would steal another Minister's portfolio?
