The Day Jim Prentice's Fear Campaign Got a Slap in the Face

With just two days to go before the Alberta election the excitement is mounting, and so is the fear campaign.

With Jim Prentice and his Big Business posse trying to scare the people of that province into voting for them and not the NDP.

And today it was Big Oil's turn to try to rescue the crumbling Con dynasty, and threaten Albertans.

Stephen Harper's Canada: Where Cons and Idiots Roam

Oh boy. It's lucky that where I live it's impossible to not know that I live in the Great White North.

Because if it wasn't, I might wonder whether I'm still living in Canada, or whether Stephen Harper has already changed it beyond recognition.

For it really is hard to believe that if you type "Stephen Harper was" into the Google search machine.

This is what comes up?

The Insane Adventures of the Increasingly Desperate Stephen Harper

OMG. Duck and cover. He's back in Ukraine again, posing as a champion of freedom and democracy.

While crushing them both at home.

And of course, in relentless pursuit of the ethnic vote, trying to make it sound like he's leading the charge against the fascist dwarf Putin.

Even if it makes him look ridiculous.

Rex Murphy and the Con Broadcasting Corporation

About a week ago I wrote a post demanding to know why the CBC hadn't fired Rex Murphy for being a shill for Big Oil.

And I assumed that because so many others had complained, and it was such an obvious conflict of interest, that the CBC would at least take those complaints seriously.

But I was wrong. It turns out CBC management doesn't think Murphy is guilty of ANYTHING.

The Harper Oil Pimps and the Attack of the Billionaires

Well you'd think Stephen Harper and his pipeline pimps would be celebrating the U.S. State Department's decision to declare the Keystone project almost good to go.

The State Department released a report on Friday concluding that the Keystone XL pipeline would not substantially worsen carbon pollution, leaving an opening for President Obama to approve the politically divisive project.

But strangely enough they're not. They're worried, angry, and bitter about BILLIONAIRES !!!

The Keystone Cons and the Day of Reckoning

It was a stirring sight.Tens of thousands of protesters braving the freezing cold to try to stop the planet from burning.

Demanding that Obama kill the Keystone XL pipeline.

Canada’s carbon-intensive oilsands industry was the guest of dishonour in Washington on Sunday, where the largest in a series of nationwide climate rallies demanded President Barack Obama call a halt to the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.

Although I HATED the way the New York Times framed this story.

Harperland and the Big Pig's Baby

OMG. In the darkness of Harperland I sometimes can't decide whether it's like living in Orwell's 1984, or on his Animal Farm.

Or both at the same time.

But what I do know is that it's a scary place.

Where the truth is what Big Brother says it is. The Big Pig from the grubby vote buying Porky Action Plan just had a baby.

And now its squealing message is coming at us from all directions...

The Northern Gateway Pipeline is Dead

Or so says Jeffrey Simpson.

The Northern Gateway pipeline that Enbridge proposes to build from Alberta’s bitumen oil to the Pacific coast of British Columbia is, for all intents and purposes, dead.

Yes, regulatory hearings before the National Energy Board will continue until the NEB approves the project. And yes, Enbridge will keep pushing for it. And yes, the Harper government, which is so publicly committed to the project, will continue to extol its virtues as part of the need to get Canadian resources to Asia.

But the project is dead. It has too many obstacles now, and there’ll be more in the future.

Stephen Harper and the Big Lie

Well there they were again. The same tired old Con gang and their weird and whacked out leader.

Blowing smoke out of every orifice, trying to smear their opponents.

Lying like thieves.

There’s only one problem with this alarmist scenario, which has been dutifully parroted by Conservative robomaulers across the country. It’s utter bovine-enhanced fertilizer. In other words, B.S.

Stephen Harper and the Cannibal Club (continued)

Holy Moly. For a moment I thought Stephen Harper was playing the good nun again in the Con version of the Sound of Music.

You know, the one where Jason Kenney plays the grim Mother Superior who beseeches the young nun to control her lustful urges, and Climb Every Mountain. Like he has.

But alas, it was only Great True North Leader giving painful birth to a new national park. While simultaneously, almost miraculously one might say, managing to screw the environment.

Stephen Harper and the Cannibal Country

OMG. The horror, the horror. Is that Hannibal or Harper?

I was hoping that Great Ugly Leader's Tour of the North would be a total bust eh?

But who knew things could go so horribly, wonderfully, wrong?

Yesterday the critics were calling it a doggy circus.

Today they're accusing him of acting like an environmental hooligan.

And introducing him as the Prime Minister of CANNIBAL !!!!.

Stephen Harper's Desperate Makeover

Uh oh. This could be ugly. I mean pretty. It looks as if Stephen Harper is badly in need of a major makeover.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s public approval ratings have reached an all-time low in 2012, and Nanos Research president Nik Nanos says the Conservatives may want to begin rehabilitating their leader’s brand this fall.

Because the omens are ominous.

Alison Redford and the Pipeline to Nowhere

Holy hee haw. Lasso me like a baby steer. I can't believe that Alison Redford is still snubbing Tom Mulcair.

Redford said no meeting with Mulcair is on the books.

"Nobody's asked me to meet with him and I'm quite busy Stampeding and speaking to Albertans about what matters to them."

Because she's got better things to do eh? Like flipping pancakes at the Redneck Rodeo, or watching horses die.

Stephen Harper's Most Horrible Day

Golly. Talk about a study in contrasts. There was Tom Mulcair flashing a winner's smile.

While in the other corner, there was Stephen Harper looking absolutely AWFUL. As if he'd just seen the grim ghost of his political future.

Or somebody had just asked him whether he REALLY likes handcuffs. Opening his mouth, showing his teeth, and grinding them gently together.

And who can blame him eh? It was his most horrible day.

Mulcair and the Orange Juggernaut

I knew that the NDP's support in Quebec would improve as soon a Tom Mulcair became leader.

Nobody hates the Con regime more than Quebecers do. And they know a fighter when they see one.

But this is still stunning.

When the Harper Oil Pimps Destroy Themselves

Last night I told you how the Harper regime was creating a Royal Canadian Oil Police to make sure that nobody but NOBODY stops their planned pipeline to British Columbia.

Today they're setting up a Royal Canadian Mop and Pail Brigade to clean up this latest oil spill.

Up to 3,000 barrels of crude oil have spilled from a pipeline into a tributary of the Red Deer River in west-central Alberta. The area around Sundre is considered pristine wilderness by many in Alberta. It’s a common getaway area for people in Calgary and popular with anglers and hunters.

Stephen Harper and the Silent Coup

I've been writing about Stephen Harper for a long time, and every year the picture on the screen gets darker and more sinister.

Just as I always knew it would. For his lust for power knows no limit. And his ideological depravity knows no bottom.

But so dark is the picture now, that I am starting to wonder whether I am witnessing a silent coup.
