The Day Joe Oliver Collided with Robert Redford

OMG. How embarrassing. I see that old Con man Joe Oliver just won't give up. Once he tried to fool us into thinking that the water from the tar ponds would be safe to drink.

Now he's in New York trying to scam the Americans into believing that the Cons are real environmentalists.

The Keystone Cons and the Day of Reckoning

It was a stirring sight.Tens of thousands of protesters braving the freezing cold to try to stop the planet from burning.

Demanding that Obama kill the Keystone XL pipeline.

Canada’s carbon-intensive oilsands industry was the guest of dishonour in Washington on Sunday, where the largest in a series of nationwide climate rallies demanded President Barack Obama call a halt to the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.

Although I HATED the way the New York Times framed this story.

Harperland and the Big Pig's Baby

OMG. In the darkness of Harperland I sometimes can't decide whether it's like living in Orwell's 1984, or on his Animal Farm.

Or both at the same time.

But what I do know is that it's a scary place.

Where the truth is what Big Brother says it is. The Big Pig from the grubby vote buying Porky Action Plan just had a baby.

And now its squealing message is coming at us from all directions...

Darth Harper and the End of the Con Empire

It must have seemed like such a good idea to a man like Stephen Harper.

He would teach Obama to humiliate him by delaying approval of the Keystone XL pipeline.

By making Americans think the Democrats are driving Canada into the arms of their Chinese enemies.

Because they don't call him Darth Harper for nothing eh? And being vindictive is in his genes.

Tom Mulcair and the Tarry Bubbly

Whew. I see Tom Mulcair managed to gallop into Alberta today, cast his eyes upon the darkness of the Oil Sands, and make his getaway without dropping the dreaded T word.

In his first-ever visit to the Alberta oilsands as NDP leader, Mulcair was about to substitute “tar” for “oil” when he hastily corrected himself.

“They’re bitumen sands because the chemicals are neither oil nor tar,” he said at a news conference hours after being taken on a tour of the mine and tailings pond reclamation process by Suncor Energy of its site in northern Alberta.

And without giving an inch.

The Oil Pimp and the Dalai Lama

He's always been an oil pimp, but I thought I better give him a new costume eh?

Because these days that's ALL he ever talks about.

"When you look at the Iranians threatening to block the Strait of Hormuz, I think that just illustrates how critical it is that supply for the United States be North American," he said.

When in fact the Iranians can't block the Strait of Hormuz, Americans only want our dirty oil so they can ship it to China. And the Enbridge pipeline is all about giving China our raw bitumen just like they took our forests.

Ezra Levant and the Banana Drama

Oh no. I knew Ezra Levant's obsession with Chiquita Banana would end badly. First he lost control of his senses, now he's lost control of his bowels mouth.

Winding up a 10-minute denunciation of the banana company’s decision to boycott oil from Alberta’s tarsands deposits, Levant signed off his Dec. 22 broadcast thusly: “Hey . . . Manuel Rodriguez, chinga tu madre.”

The epithet, widely used in Mexico but not in the rest of the Spanish-speaking world, means, crudely, to have carnal relations with your mother.

Now look I understand that "chinga tu madre" along with "otra cerveza por favor" are the only Spanish words most redneck hosers ever learn at a cheap resort in Mexico.

The Oil Sands and the Banana War

Oh. My. Monkey. It looks like Chiquita Banana is giving Canada's oil sands the cold shoulder.

The Canadian oil sands industry is facing an unlikely adversary in Chiquita Brands International, the banana company.

The Ohio-based company said it will work with environmental organization ForestEthics to eliminate shipping of Chiquita bananas with fuel from refineries that use Canada’s oil sands.

Which of course had Great Banana Republic Leader stewing in his own fumes.

What do the Cons and the Saudis Have in Common?

They both hate high gas prices.

For all the wrong reasons.

Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal said Sunday that he wants oil prices to drop so that the United States and Europe don't accelerate efforts to wean themselves off his country's supply.

"We don't want the West to go and find alternatives, because, clearly, the higher the price of oil goes, the more they have incentives to go and find alternatives," said Talal, who is listed by Forbes as the 26th richest man in the world.

Golly. At least he's honest.

Which is more than we can say for the Cons.

The federal government has acknowledged that it deliberately excluded data indicating a 20 per cent increase in pollution from Canada's oilsands industry in 2009 from a recent 567-page report on climate change that it was required to submit to the United Nations.

Overall, the report revealed a six per cent drop in annual emissions for the entire economy from 2008 to 2009, but does not directly show the extent of pollution from the oilsands production, which is now greater than the greenhouse gas emissions of all the cars driven on Canadian roads.

Great eh? They're allowing Big Oil to torch the planet, and kill our manufacturing industry.  They have done nothing to prepare us for a greener future. Now they are trying to diddle the facts, deceive the United Nations, and hide the truth from Canadians.

Like this Big Oil executive tried to hide the ghastly truth from the media.

Because for these Con oil pimps the truth is inconvenient.

And their ideal world is one where EVERYTHING runs on gas...

Electric cars and modern rail service are a threat. The truth must be hidden.

So we the dummies of Canada can keep rolling into the past.

Duh.

On good old Via Rail...

I mean POOR old Via Rail. Because instead of modernizing it, the Cons are planning to KILL it.

Yup it's true. When we gave those oil pimps a majority we didn't just hurt ourselves.

We hurt the whole PLANET...

Greenpeace Sends a Message to the World

Wow. I have to admit I LOVE the way Greenpeace decorated the halls roof of Parliament.

What a great message.

And what a great video to share with the planet.

It helps make up for this latest humiliation.

Canada had the dubious honour Monday of being one of the countries to win the Fossil of the Day award, which is presented by non-governmental groups at the Copenhagen conference to countries they deem laggards on the environment.

By showing the world that we're not all greedy oil hogs like the Cons. That a lot of us care about the planet. And that some of us are prepared to do more than just sit there and watch it burn.

When the stakes are so high.

The science is complex but the facts are clear. The world needs to take steps to limit temperature rises to 2C, an aim that will require global emissions to peak and begin falling within the next 5-10 years. A bigger rise of 3-4C — the smallest increase we can prudently expect to follow inaction — would parch continents, turning farmland into desert. Half of all species could become extinct, untold millions of people would be displaced, whole nations drowned by the sea.

And what I also liked about the Greenpeace action, was that it reduced Stephen Harper's latest neverending campaign photo-op to the status of a third rate story.

And at a time when the world is focusing on Copenhagen, it made him look even more ridiculous...and environmentally irresponsible.

I mean what do you call a guy who is willing to poison his own province?

And does this mean he's going to follow Obama and declare this dangerous pollution a health hazard?

The agency's announcement Monday paves the way for government regulation of emissions even without congressional approval.

Heh heh heh. You know I think I'm going to enjoy this climate summit a lot eh?

Even before it started the Cons looked like fossils. By time it's over they'll look like CRIMINALS.

Woohoo!!! Deck out the roof halls of Parliament.

Christmas is coming EARLY....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS: You know about that so-called Climategate affair that has the Con deniers in a foaming frenzy? Well somebody in Copenhagen did mention the hacked e-mails today.

The representative from SAUDI ARABIA.

So much for Climategate. So much for the Cons. Whose side are they on ANYWAY?

Muahahahaha...

Michael Ignatieff and the Clean Dirty Oil

Well by now we all know how Michael Ignatieff set off to woo the West and ended up loving the Dirty Oil Sands.

"National Geographic is not going to teach me any lessons about the oilsands," he said.

"This is a huge industry. It employs Canadians from coast to coast. We have oil reserves that are going to last for the whole of the 21st century. We are where we are. We've got to clean it up, and we've got make it a sustainable place to work and live."

But somehow forgot to mention how we might do that. Which is hardly surprising because the only way to clean up that big black ugly hole that is torching the planet is to fill it in, cover it with manure, and hope that a thousand years of evolution will bring it back to life.

Because not only is carbon sequestration a monstrous fraud.

The ministerial briefing notes, initially marked "Secret," say that just a small percentage of the carbon dioxide released in mining the sands and producing fuel from them can be captured.

It could also be DANGEROUS.

Huge quantities of carbon dioxide stored underground or inside a mountain could suddenly leak out and smother entire communities. And if you don't believe that, just ask the people of Lake Nyos.

Look I know that Iggy is determined to waste his time trying to woo the West, but on the question of the oilsands he is either a liar or a dangerous idiot...who needs all the lessons he can get from National Geographic.

But definitely NOT a leader. just another Oil Pimp.

Just another phony trying to sell "clean dirty oil."

Like this guy sells "clean coal."

Interestingly enough that video was made by the Coen brothers. Trust them to see the horror ....and the comic potential.

Too bad Iggy doesn't see it that way. But what do you expect eh?

The oil sands are a real horror story.

And he's a real joke...
