Alberta the Ugly and the Toxic Trudeau Haters

I don't know when Alberta first became the vile hate mongering place it is today. Maybe it was before my time.

Or maybe ten years of the greasy oil pimp Stephen Harper made it think that it was better than all the other provinces put together.

A little bit of ugly America in Canada.

But what nobody can deny is that it is a hate mongering place.

And these are just the latest examples.

Justin Trudeau and the Absurd Alberta Kerfuffle

I thought Justin Trudeau did a great job of presiding over the Canada Day festivities in Ottawa, as well as representing the spirit of the new generation.

But as you probably know, he made a small mistake.

To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave a speech to a cheering crowd in Ottawa Saturday, highlighting the diversity and kinship of all the provinces and territories. However, he failed to mention one major Canadian province in his speech — Alberta.

And even though he quickly apologized, the ghastly Cons and other Trudeau haters in this country tried to turn it into a big deal.

Scottish Independence and Some Lessons For Alberta

Last Sunday was the second anniversary of Scotland's independence referendum, which as you may know, was for me a day of great disappointment.

And one I'll always remember.

But I haven't dared even mention the anniversary when talking to my family in the Scottish highlands, because for them it's a day best forgotten.

They don't want to talk about it. It's too traumatic.

And they all voted NO.

Is Stephen Harper Preparing To Return From The Dead?

I seems hard to believe it could happen with Stephen Harper in such a dilapidated condition.

But a strange story has been circulating in the political cemetery where the Cons hang out these days.

And it would have Stephen Harper rising from the dead.

And beginning a shadowy campaign to become the next Premier of Alberta.

The Fort Mac Fire: Time to Give Cheap Politics a Rest

It's like a scene out of hell, a raging inferno if ever there was one.

And I feel so sorry for the residents of Fort Mac who have lost their homes or their businesses.

But what I find really moving is the way many Canadians all over the country have been doing what they can to help those poor people through this terrible time.

So we really don't need this ugly reaction.

Michael Harris On the Con Smearing of Justin Trudeau

I was glad to see Justin Trudeau have the courage and the decency to visit Alberta, a province where so many Cons hate him with an intensity that borders on insanity.

I was happy to see him provide Rachel Notley with some badly needed support, and reassure the many suffering people in that stricken province, and the devastated oil industry, that help is on the way.

“I’m going to continually highlight that we’re all in this together as Canadians – that Alberta contributed tremendously to Canada’s growth over the past decade. And now that we’re facing challenging times here in Alberta, Canada will be there for them,” Mr. Trudeau told reporters.

So imagine how I felt to see the Con media in that province attack Trudeau like a pack of rabid zombies.

Rachel Notley and Alberta's Monstrous Harvest of Hate

When Rachel Notley was elected Premier of Alberta I thought it was a shining moment for that province.

I thought she would be able to make Alberta more than a one-party petrostate, the land of the Con zombies, and the home of the Harperites.

And would finally end its reputation as a haven for religious bigots and violent rednecks.

But sadly that shining picture has darkened, and now some of those rednecks are threatening to assassinate her.

Alberta: The NDP Closes In On A Majority

It may be hard to believe, but something amazing is happening in Alberta.

Other polls have documented the rise of the NDP.

But now one is suggesting the party is closing in on a majority.

The Totally Unbelievable Transformation of Stephen Harper

Even by the standards of the monstrous Stephen Harper, whose many images reflect the many warring voices in his head, it's an amazing transformation.

Or mutation.

For nine years he was the Oily Messiah, the maniacal missionary who once told an audience in Britain that developing the oil sands was akin to building the Great Wall of China or the Pyramids.

The Father of Albertonia, and of course, Big Oil's favourite pimp...

Stephen Harper and the Republic of CanAlberta

It's one of the oldest and best known pictures of Stephen Harper. The Toronto nerd dressed up as an Alberta cowboy.

The one who fell in so much love with that province, he tried to put a firewall around it.

But it turns out that picture couldn't be more prophetic.

Because when it comes to the economy, as far as his foul Con regime is concerned.

There's Alberta, and then there's everybody else.

Alberta and the Climate Change Deniers

Well now we know what climate change could do to Alberta.

At a minimum, temperatures in Alberta are expected to increase by 2 C over the next hundred years; all available global climate models predict this outcome. In response, Alberta's ecosystems are projected to shift northward: for example, the parkland landscape around Edmonton will come to resemble the grassland landscape around Calgary.

At the upper end, under a high global greenhouse gas emissions scenario, the climate models predict drier conditions and temperature increases of up to 6.5 C, which could result in the near-complete loss of the boreal forest from northern Alberta. The boreal region currently covers more than half of the province.

The question I have is what will people think of climate change deniers like Joe Oliver and Stephen Harper who helped lead them to such an arid future?

The Not So Great Legacy of Ralph Klein

They say you are not supposed to speak ill of the dead.

So I'd rather not say anything about the life and legacy of Ralph Klein.

But unfortunately we live in a very sick democracy. A country corrupted by leaders like Stephen Harper.

So when I see the MSM falling over themselves to see who can write a more glowing  or fawning obituary, I believe some balance is required.

The Con Assault on the Dutch Disease

Nothing Tom Mulcair has ever said scares Stephen Harper more than his claim that the Dutch Disease is killing jobs all over Canada.

Especially in vote-rich Ontario where the next election will be decided.

Because if the people in that province ever realize how much Harper's Alberta First economic policies are hurting them and the future of their kids, the Cons will be out of power sooner than you can say howdy cowboy.

So the Cons and the right-wing conspiracy are always trying to claim that the Dutch Disease is just a myth, and here they go again.

Stephen Harper's Humiliating Weekend

Golly. It must be a case of reverse voodoo eh?

The more pins Stephen Harper sticks into his Justin Trudeau doll, the more Justin laughs.

And the more Great Macaca Leader squeals.

Stephen Harper and the Two Justins

OMG. Or should that be Baby Baby? What are Stephen Harper and his absurd Cons doing to our country?

For there was Great Musical Leader today, too busy to meet with the premiers, but not too busy to hand out royal bling to Justin Bieber.

While in the House of Commons the Con chorus wailed pathetically: The other Justin is bullying Alberta !!!!! WAAAAAAAH !!!!!!!!

The Liberals and the Tempest in a Tar Pond

Holy inquisition. What Harperland Voodoo is this?

David McGuinty is being burned toasted at the stake by the LIBERALS, for telling the truth about the Alberta CONS?

Ontario Liberal MP David McGuinty apologized Wednesday and resigned his post as the party’s natural resources critic after he said Alberta MPs need to take a nationwide view of energy policies or go home.

While the Cons wank themselves into a frenzy, or swing from the rafters of the House of Commons like a pack of horny monkeys with blue behinds, so inflamed is their outrage.

Alison Redford and the Pipeline to Nowhere

Holy hee haw. Lasso me like a baby steer. I can't believe that Alison Redford is still snubbing Tom Mulcair.

Redford said no meeting with Mulcair is on the books.

"Nobody's asked me to meet with him and I'm quite busy Stampeding and speaking to Albertans about what matters to them."

Because she's got better things to do eh? Like flipping pancakes at the Redneck Rodeo, or watching horses die.

Danielle Smith and the War on Canada

Uh oh. Somebody call a tow truck. I see Danielle Smith and her Wild Hog Party's triumphal ride desperate race to the finishing line, is temporarily bogged down in a redneck swamp of pig shit and bigotry.

With Big Oil's Bubbah Barbie hiding from the public and the media.

The Conservatives said Wildrose candidates are “missing in action” from Fort McMurray to Lethbridge and the NDP said Smith — in a bid to preserve her party’s lead in the polls — is dodging tough questions about her stance on climate change and candidates’ social views.

So she can get enough sleep, get some more coaching from her campaign manager Tom "Strangelove" Flanagan...

And somehow find the strength to massage the fleshy hind quarters of yet another Wild Hog bigot.

Danielle Smith and the Lake of Fire

Until about ten days ago I clung to the hope that all I ever needed to know about Danielle Smith was that she was the new Evita of the Alberta Teabaggers, and Big Oil's Bubbah Barbie doll. The one with the big wheels.

That she had vowed to make it easier to drink and drive. That she had been cruelly accused of not breeding enough...like a good Alberta cow. And that Tom "Strangelove" Flanagan was her campaign manager.

Because that's enough eh?

But of course now that polls suggest she could be the next Premier of the right-wing petro province, I've been forced to pay more attention to the Wildhog campaign and the stench is overwhelming.

So Is It Alberta, Alabama, or Arizona?

Remember how I was complaining about the heat yesterday? And how I have no time for blogging because I'm being forced to spend so much time at the beach?

Just like my poor doggy.

Well I have to admit that after I read this story.

I felt a whole lot better.

But that reminds me of something else. You know how I like to tell the Canadian teabaggers who hate the gun registry, Big Govinment, and immigrants that they should move to Alberta...or Alabama?

Well it turns out I was at least half right...

Hee Haw. Hee Haw. So should they move to Alabama or Alberta?

Or would they prefer Arizona?

Hmmmm...come for the barren wasteland stay for the hospitality? So is it Alberta, Alabama, or Arizona?

Golly. I give up eh?

I'm just glad I live in CANADA...
