Jimbo Flaherty and the Make Believe Families Scam

As we know too well, just about everything the Con regime would sell us is more propaganda than reality.

The Porky Economic Action ads that boast about a job grant that doesn't exist.

The Great War on Crime in a country where the crime rate has been falling for years,

But who knew Jimbo Flaherty and his Con artists would go so far as to create make believe families.

Middle-class families are struggling economically, but at least one of them is doing quite well, thank you very much: the working parents with two kids who appear as a fictitious example in the federal budget each year.

Families whose make believe tax savings are based on make believe wage increases.

A closer look at these couples’ changing salaries shows some whopping increases, far above inflation and out of step with the workplace experience of many ordinary Canadians.

The woman’s earnings have shot up to $72,000 in 2014, from $60,000 two years earlier, a 20 per cent salary hike. The man’s salary has gone to $48,000 from $40,000 over the same period, also a 20 per cent increase.

Wage increases that are so out of line they make Jimbo Flaherty sound like a Nigerian spammer.

And tax savings so grossly inflated they make Stephen Harper sound like a used car salesman....

“A typical family of four pays more than $3,000 less in taxes than when we came to office,” Harper said Nov. 1 in a keynote speech to party faithful. “That’s car payments for a year.”

But then as we know all too well he really believes that if you repeat a Big Lie over and over again, enough people will believe it.

Like his recent attempt to convince us that the so-called Fair Elections Act will strengthen our battered democracy, when in fact it further undermines it.

At first glance the title "Fair Elections Act" implies there is an effort to fix and correct some problems in order to protect the integrity of our electoral system. This Bill, however, is not fair; it is an attempt to provide an advantage to the Conservatives in the upcoming election and it's an attack on the independence of Elections Canada.

But while he may get away with that assault on our democracy, and he may convince some that our country is being overrun with criminals, even if they are invisible.

The Con regime's attempts to pad their dismal economic record by creating make believe families, could do them real damage.

Because too many Canadians may not understand or care what's being done to our democracy. But they do understand that if they go to their bosses and ask for a twenty percent raise they'll soon be looking for another job eh?

After being hastily replaced by a temporary foreign worker.

They do know that whatever the Cons say:

A Finance Department official defended the salary numbers, saying they were based partly on Canada Revenue Agency data, derived from tax returns, and from private-sector economists’ projections on salary increases.

Doesn't match the reality of their lives, or for that matter the most optimistic private-sector projections...

And they do care about being SCAMMED...

So if the democratic opposition can come up with an effective ad campaign.

They can undermine the only thing the Cons still have going for them, their fraudulent economic credentials.

And make Stephen Harper and Jimbo Flaherty look like scam artists.

Or this guy...

Peddling miracle wage increases with make believe stories of economic success.

Which should contribute mightily to providing a happy ending to this shorter version of the Rise and Fall of the Con Mob.

They came, they scammed us, they robbed our country blind.

Until they were finally caught.

And they ended up where they rightfully belonged...

the woman in the commercial about the jobs thing..............
its enough to make you sick. I'm sure she is either a con or an actress and if she's an actress, she could have done a better job. the ad is sickening. its like I was depressed and unhappy and I got a grant from the cons and now my life is wonderful and I have lots of money. Like that is something out of the 60s and high on pot. they keep running the ad and it must be costing taxpayers a bomb. No one is getting the money this woman in the ad is, or if they are, where can the rest of us get some. Some of the Veterans would like some, so would children living on reservs, not to mention seniors who are on CPP. then all of the rest of us can have a wonderful happy life.

Simon, you seem to be extremely obsessed with ruining stevie harpie and his crime cabal, throwing out to the public every heinous action they perform and exhibiting every shitty bit of "legislation" these right-wing fascist bastards that call themselves "conservatives" enact against the will of their own countrymen and the very tenets upon which Canada was founded.
I think I love you.

hi liberalandlovingit....Don't worry I will. If jot was hard,I might have to reconsider, because I am rather lazy. But luckily those Con spammers make it only too easy, so I thoroughly enjoy it... ;)

hi e.a.f....don't be too hard on the woman, she is undoubtedly an actress, she probably didn't get paid much, and I know quite a few starving actors. But as for the mentality of the Cons who made the ad, well that is depressing, because they clearly take us for fools. And as you point, out they have spent a fortune on those porky propaganda ads, which is absolutely obscene...

hi anon...thanks for those sweet words, I love you all too. But as for the Cons, I'm not sure whether it's an obsession, but it's close. I have a natural loathing for swaggering cowardly bullies who lie all the time, and a fierce determination to (a) not let them get away with anything if I can help it. And (b) to contribute to the historical record so their many crimes are duly recorded, and history does not absolve them..
