Donald Trump likes to claim he's not a racist, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
He likes to claim it's all about saving the white people's heritage, or stopping black athletes from dishonouring the flag or the national anthem.
But it is all just another Big Lie.
Like the the latest one his grubby racist supporters would have you believe.
The pictures out of the stricken island of Puerto Rico are stunning and heartbreaking. And what you can't see is worse.
Millions of desperate people without food and water, with no power, no fuel, no way to communicate with loved ones and friends, or the outside world.
But for almost a week while people suffered and died, Donald Trump did nothing.
Being too preoccupied with other matters to notice or care
I realize that a poll is just a snapshot in time, and that all of them come with a margin of error.
But trying to figure out who is doing better these days, Andrew Scheer's Cons or Justin Trudeau's Liberals, is getting to be almost impossible.
For first there was a Forum poll five days ago that suggested that Scheer was ahead for the first time ever.
But it was followed the very next day by a Nanos poll that suggested he wasn't.
And now I'm totally confused.
I have been very moved by the sight of all those American football players kneeling in silent protest during the playing of their national anthem.
And refusing to be intimidated by the racist bully Donald Trump.
So you can imagine how disappointed I was to see this.
Donald Trump likes to compare himself favourably to Abraham Lincoln, the only president he believes who was (slightly) greater than him.
And when there's a full moon, he has even been heard to describe himself as the Great Uniter.
Which of course is hilarious. MAGA !!! MAGA!!! MA HA HA HA!!!
But now at least he may have earned himself the title of the great Un-Lincoln.
Andrew Scheer likes to describe himself as a new generation leader, but like everything else about him that claim couldn't be more fraudulent.
For instead of leading his Cons out of the darkness of the Harper years, he's taking them back to the cowboy days of the Reform Party.
And he just can't seem to do anything right.
Oh dear. Yesterday the grinning religious fanatic Andrew Scheer was flying high, after a Forum poll showed him and his Cons leading the Liberals for the first time in a long time.
But I wondered whether the poll was an outlier.
And now it seems it was.
And poor old Scheer isn't grinning anymore.
It's going to feel like 40 degrees again in Ottawa today. And I was pretty sure that Andrew Scheer was melting.
Not just because of the brutal temperature, but also because of the heat he's been taking over all the lies in his phony tax campaign.
But could I be wrong?
Could this nightmare be true?
Donald Trump has been losing his marbles for a long time, but now it seems the last few are blasting out or rolling out of his rear orifice. And it's a scary sight.
He's threatening to bomb the North Koreans, the Iranians, the Venezuelans, and his own party.
And now he's taking his assault on America one step further.
By declaring war on the National Football League.
I must admit that I've just about had enough of Donald Trump, and I wish I could filter him out of my life.
Just the sound of his whiny voice, or the sight of his bloated orange ugliness, is sometimes enough to make me feel like vomiting.
So about a week ago I was glad to find out that I am not alone.
A few days ago I wondered how long we might have to wait before marijuana is legalized in this country.
And whether the premiers, the police, and Andrew Scheer's Cons would be able to stop the Trudeau government from making next years's Canada Day also Cannabis Day.
But now I'm feeling a lot more confident that the target date will be respected.
Now that I know that two former senior police officers, including one who was a Con minister, are jumping on the marijuana bandwagon.
It's hard to believe it's happening in Europe, and in an ostensibly democratic country like Spain.
But just as the autonomous region of Catalonia was planning to hold a referendum on whether or not to secede from Spain, the Spanish government has tried to block it by arresting some separatist leaders.
The Spanish police detained more than a dozen people in the region of Catalonia on Wednesday, drastically escalating tensions between the national government and Catalan separatists. The episode occurred less than two weeks before a highly contentious referendum on independence that the government in Madrid has vowed to block.
And stealing the ballots.
Only to reap the righteous wrath of the Catalan people.
If you believe our Con media you might think that the entire country was rising up to fight the Liberal government's plan to make our tax system fairer.
If you believe Andrew Scheer, you might think that millions of middle class Canadians are as mad as hell at Justin Trudeau for calling them tax cheats.
Even if he didn't.
If you believe Pierre Poilievre, you might think that Canada is in a state of rebellion.
And sure enough, here's an anti-tax protest in Saskatoon...
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how Hurricane Mueller was closing in on Donald Trump at an alarming speed.
I said it was gathering strength with every passing day.
And that it was only a matter of time before it came ashore at the Trump White House.
Well now Mueller has finally arrived.
Ever since General John Kelly took over as Donald Trump's chief of Staff, or Babysitter-in-Chief, he has been able to restrain him better than most.
Marred only by the occasional temper tantrum or soiled diaper.
But yesterday as we all know, Trump was able to escape Kelly's clutches for a couple of hours.
And shock the whole world.
It should have been a crowning moment for Andrew Scheer. His first day in the returning House of Commons, as the new leader of the Harper Party.
His first chance to face Justin Trudeau, deploy his creepy grin, and claim he's trying to save small businesses from his greedy clutches...
But sadly for Scheer it just didn't work.
He lost his grin, he lost his argument.
Although he did gain a new nose.
We've been talking about legalizing marijuana in this country for about fifty years, since the Le Dain Commission delivered its report.
Which was completely ignored, as was another report produced by the Senate.
So I'm glad that our next Canada Day is also supposed to be Cannabis Day, the day the insane War on Weed finally ends.
But as that day approaches, those who would like that war to continue are becoming more and more vocal.
There is a touch of reefer madness in the air. Again.
For weeks I've been warning that there was something funny or fishy about the way Andrew Scheer and his Cons were attacking the Liberal government's plans to reform our tax system.
Warning that nobody should believe Scheer when he claimed he was trying to defend the poor rather than the rich.
And sure enough, Vice News has obtained copies of the Con's secret documents detailing how their MPs are to go after the government,
And they couldn't be more shocking.
Early this morning, about 1.2 billion kilometres away from Earth, an amazing 20-year voyage came to a sudden end.
When the Cassini spacecraft crashed into Saturn.
And I must admit that when it did, I found myself moved beyond belief.
Donald Trump is trying to make us believe that he has turned over a new leaf, and that he's not as bad as we thought he was.
But sadly for him it's just not working.
For it seems he can't stop comparing Nazis to the Antifa, or anti-fascists, who confront them in the streets.
Yesterday I wrote about how Donald Trump's dinner with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer had outraged many of his loyal supporters.
After it produced a deal between the main course and dessert to protect young undocumented immigrants.
A deal which has given the Republican leadership a bad case of indigestion.
One that has the alt-right rag Breitbart calling Trump "Amnesty Don" and accusing Trump's opponents of gloating.
And one that has some of the Orange Oaf's most fanatic supporters going to extraordinary lengths to show how betrayed they feel.
In one of my last posts I looked at the budding menage-a-trois between Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer.
And how it was making many Republicans really nervous.
Well last night Trump invited Chuck and Nancy to have dinner at the White House.
And for many Republicans it must have looked like the last supper.
The news hit me like a blast from the past. A very dark past. A past I sometimes wish I could forget.
But there was Dean Del Mastro, who once somehow managed to be Stephen Harper's favourite Con enforcer AND his point man on ethics, on his way to jail. Again.
To complete his sentence for electoral fraud.
And I have to admit I was shaken.
For who can forget the last time he clinked and clanked his way to the Big House?
I don't know or care how the grubby boozer Steve Bannon managed to burrow into Donald Trump's diseased brain.
And only a psychiatrist can explain why Trump believed anything Bannon told him.
But now Bannon has granted an interview to CBS' 60 Minutes, and one thing he said did make sense.
We know that Andrew Scheer is a sinister religious fanatic. We know that he is a crass misogynist, and an anti-gay and anti-Muslim bigot.
We know that he is a creepy demagogue, and a good friend of Ezra Levant.
We know that he believes that we should pay to have children home schooled, and that carbon taxes are the work of the devil.
But who knew that he is also a flim-flam man?
I'm afraid it's just too nice today to think of blogging instead of sailing. Or whatever.
But now that Hurricane Irma has finally come ashore in Florida, before CNN blew up from all that huffing and puffing.
And now that I can at least hope that Hurricane Mueller might take down Donald Trump AND Mike Pence .
Before I set off for the great blue yonder, I'd like to introduce you to my presently favourite candidate for president of the United States.
As you can imagine, Donald Trump has so many things to worry about these days.
What with Hurricane Irma threatening to engulf the state of Florida
And the Hispanic Hurricane Jose following so closely behind.
It's a climate change denier's AND a bigot's nightmare.
But of course the hurricane he's really worried about is Hurricane Mueller.
The other day I told you how the grotesque RepubliCon blowhard Rush Limbaugh was refusing to take Hurricane Irma seriously.
And how he was claiming it was just fake news.
Well now with Irma closing in on his Palm Beach enclave, it seems that the lardy Limbaugh has changed his mind.
In my last post I wrote about how Andrew Scheer had set out on his crusade, to try to bring down the Great Satan Justin Trudeau.
Aided and abetted by a small army of religious fanatics, and the usual shabby posse of racists, misogynists, dirty old men, and anti-gay bigots.
And so shocking and depressing was the spectacle, I forgot to mention the good news.
I don't think Scheer and his Cons are going to make it to their New/Nouveau Jerusalem.
It's hard to believe, it's so bizarre it boggles the mind. It's like Andrew Scheer is getting his marching orders straight from Donald Trump or his Godzilla.
For it has only been a couple of weeks since him and his Cons tried to sabotage the NAFTA talks by taking the Khadr case to the U.S.
And stabbing Canada in the back.
But despite the way they were criticized for their treasonous behaviour, Scheer is at it AGAIN!!!
It's a monster hurricane, roaring out of the Atlantic Ocean and into the Caribbean.
Hurricane Irma, one of the most powerful Atlantic storms ever recorded, battered the islands of the northeast Caribbean early Wednesday, leaving severe damage in its wake as it barreled toward the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
A monster so big it has left this senior scientist at the National Hurricane Centre speechless.
But don't tell that to the right-wing blowhard Rush Limbaugh.
Ever since Andrew Scheer was chosen as the new leader of the Harper Party, I've been trying to explain to the few Cons I know, that they've made a terrible mistake.
Trying to explain that by choosing a religious fanatic who would criminalize women, marginalize gays, and ignore climate change, they haven't just lost the next election.
They've also lost the future.
In a world where the 24 hour news cycle rules, it's easy to forget how Andrew Scheer became Con leader, after one of the most disgusting leadership campaigns in modern Canadian history.
A campaign right out of the Night of the Living Dead...
Where the Con zombies stumbled about gnawing on our Canadian values, and trying to out Trump each other.
And since the creepy religious fanatic Scheer became leader, the situation has only grown worse.
Rex Murphy has always been a grubby right-wing demagogue, and a ghastly Con if ever there was one.
For years he has recycled Con talking points, and other material dredged from the soggy margins of the right-wing swamp.
He is a shabby climate change denier, and a shameless pimp for Big Oil.
But now he has finally gone over the deep end, and shown his true colours.
It was a bizarre sight, like a scene out of a really bad disaster movie.
Donald Trump back in Texas again, handing out food at a Houston shelter.
And complaining that his hands were too big for his plastic gloves.
*Shudder*
But then he had to go back, for his first visit four days ago was an absolute disaster.
As I'm sure you know, Andrew Scheer likes to call himself a Christian.
A servant of the Lord come to save Canada from women who have abortions, and destroy the Great Satan Justin Trudeau.
But sadly for Scheer he has no halo, he's no holy man.
For although as I pointed out yesterday, he'd like to plaster every campus with gory "pro-life" posters.
He has no respect for human life.
The night Andrew Scheer was elected Con leader I remember thinking how little I knew about him, and wondering why the media had failed so miserably to let us know who he really was.
I knew he was a professional politician, I knew he had been a lousy Speaker who always tilted in the same rightward direction like the leaning Tower of Pisa.
I also knew he was a hardcore social conservative, a man with a visceral hatred of gay people, and liberated women.
But one thing I could never figure out was why he was making freedom of speech his biggest or fiercest issue.
Now that Donald Trump has revealed his inner fascism, and how far he is prepared to go to flout the rule of law.
Now that a poll commissioned by his beloved Fox News suggests that most Americans believe that he is tearing the country apart.
It might be a good time to ask WHY?
Why in a dangerous time is he trying to divide Americans, instead of trying to unite them? Why is he trying to create the conditions that could lead to a new and bloody civil war?
One that could set the whole of North America on fire...
