Jason Kenney Gets Away With Another Big Lie
I'm sure you remember the desperate state Jason Kenney was in a month ago, after claiming the reason the Cons were expanding the war into Syria was because the Americans had asked us.
Since we were apparently the only country in the anti-ISIS coalition, apart from the U.S., to have so-called smart bombs.
Only to have the country's top soldier shuffle forward, and make him look an idiot, or a liar.
And have the NDP demand that he be found guilty of breaching parliamentary privilege.
But as it turns out he didn't have to wail, or sweat even more than usual. Because yesterday the Con Speaker declared it was only an honest mistake.
Defence Minister Jason Kenney did not breach privilege when he erroneously told the House of Commons that Canada was the only country besides the U.S. with precision-guided munitions, Speaker Andrew Scheer has ruled.
In his ruling, Scheer acknowledged that Kenney was wrong in his initial statements but that there was “no deliberate attempt to falsify or withhold information or mislead the House.”
Even though Kenney had vigorously defended his outrageous claim after the Ottawa Citizen broke the story. Pressured the military to back him up. And if General Lawson had not changed his story and come forward, we might never have known the truth.
And even though Kenney had recently been caught lying. Again.
By claiming that Russian jets had buzzed our ships during a training exercise in the Black Sea...
When in fact they hadn't.
Which had Rick Mercer wondering what Kenney was doing, and where the truth had gone...
And the brutal truth in this latest case is that Kenney did indeed mislead the House of Commons, to try to hide the real reason the Cons expanded the air war into Syria.
And that is solely to satisfy its rabid religious base who had been loudly demanding that they do something to help the Christians in that country.
Something the Cons couldn't admit because it wouldn't look good, especially since those Christians are some of the strongest supporters of the brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad.
Most recently accused of using chlorine gas on his own people.
So the real reason for the expanded mission couldn't be made public, and that's why Kenney came up with that outrageous explanation, or that Big Lie.
Which at the very least should have made him guilty of breaching parliamentary privilege.
And the only reason I can think of that he wasn't, is that the Con speaker is a kindred spirit. Or like Kenney a religious fanatic.
Scheer, now 30, has a rare combination of boyish enthusiasm and seasoned smarts that makes him an effective representative. More impressively, he is a passionate social conservative who isn’t afraid to raise life and family issues.
With some strong views on abortion and gay marriage.
He is also unabashedly pro-life and has been rated “pro-life” by Campaign Life Coalition all three times he has run. In 2008, after the governor-general gave the Order of Canada to abortionist Henry Morgentaler, Scheer spoke out. He said, “I am greatly disappointed that Canada’s highest civilian honour has been politicized and debased by this appointment.”
When he ran in June 2004, he said the same-sex “marriage” issue was “front and centre” and that he unapologetically defended traditional marriage.
A good Christian soldier, and a good soldier in Harper's army.
Questions about information coming out of the trial of suspended senator Mike Duffy are not related to government business, implied Canada's Speaker of the House Andrew Scheer during question period on Monday.
Who is now trying to muzzle debate on the Duffy trial.
And all I can say is that a Speaker who always seems to lean the same way like the Tower of Pisa isn't much of a Speaker.
A government who lies about the reason it is expanding a war is unfit to remain in office.
A country with so many people who can fooled so easily is a country in deep trouble.
And of course, for degrading the truth over and over again for crass political purposes.
Jason Kenney deserves to be fired...

Here are 4 wedge questions to make those in Harper's base (who consider themselves pro-life) really think about WHY they should vote Con in the next election. If you personally know anyone who always votes Con, ask him/her:
1. Do you believe journalists (and the public at large) should hold people in power to high scrutiny no matter who they are or what political party/ideology/religion they profess? Yes or No?
2. Harper says he has no plans to reopen the abortion debate. So why would a pro-life person vote for Harper, if he has FAILED to reopen the abortion debate, and WILL NOT reopen the abortion debate even if his party wins the next election?
3. What pro-life legislation has Harper introduced or made into law since coming to power in 2006?
4. Sister Joan Chittister commented:

Sister Joan Chittister: "I'm opposed to abortion. But I do not believe that just because you're opposed to abortion that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking. If all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed and why would I think that you don't? Because you don't want any tax money to go there. That's not pro-life. That's pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is."
Do you admit you are really pro-birth, not pro-life? Yes or No? Why?
Some Christian groups support same-sex marriage and LGBT rights:

Nicola is poised to win all 59 seats........no lie! Read it in the Scotsman this morning! Makes me proud and most of my ancestors came from farther South!!!!!!!!
Imagine the spirits of the young if this really happens......I'm excited thinking about it!
Poor Scheer, he must be desolated by the election of Pope Francis. I feel for him.
What has always puzzled me is how someone can be pro life and still bomb countries and promote war. Are you only pro life for the foetus but not when that child gets to fighting age? The biggest hypocrisy of all.
The Sister's quote is something I can really get behind. it might be a good thing to use in letters to the editor. The Sister is quite correct. We have only to look at the medical care report for the North, which was recently issued.
The Cons aren't pro-life, they are pro-birth. What a great way to change the narrative and challenge the narrative of these "compulsory pregnancy" people
