How A Con Plan To Smear Trudeau Backfired Disastrously

A few months ago, Hamish Marshall, the Rebel co-founder who is now the Con's campaign manager, addressed the annual gathering of uber right-wingers at the Manning Centre.

And told them that if the Harper Party was ever going to return to power, it needed to regain the support of ethnic communities it had lost during the last election campaign.

But his new boss and fellow Rebel groupie Andrew Scheer clearly wasn't listening.

For in his desperate attempt to dump on Justin Trudeau's trip to India, with the help of his Con media groupies.

He may have just shot himself in the foot, and further reduced his slim chances of winning the next election.

After alienating Canada's large Sikh community.

The Conservative Party decided early Thursday not to proceed with a House of Commons motion that a Canadian Sikh organization says labels its community as “terrorists.”

According to the Sikh association, that decision came after a night-long campaign. “Throughout the whole night, the Sikh Community has been working aggressively to refute the frivolous allegations of labelling our community as terrorists at the request of foreign and corrupt entities,” a Facebook post says.

By suggesting they are terrorists, and that unlike Justin Trudeau, only the Cons stand for a united India.

Which is of course is a big lie, and a big problem for the Cons.

Canada is estimated to have the world’s largest Sikh community outside of India. More than 450,000 people across the country self-identified as following the religion in the 2011 census. The community has long been important to Canadian electoral politics.

For not only are Sikh Canadians a formidable community, as I have tried to explain India is a complex country, and in their frenzied assault on Trudeau, the Con media has disgraced itself.

By demanding to talk about Trudeau's trip to India to the exclusion of everything else, even though they don't know anything about that country, and as Supriya Dwivedi points out, are guilty of oversimplifying Indo-Canadian relations.

For starters, the whole issue of India thinking Canada is soft on Khalistani terrorists isn’t exactly new. In fact, it’s about as old as I am, dating back to the Air India bombing. And yet it was largely presented by our media as some novel diplomatic dust-up.

Under Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s tenure, the issue of Canada’s Khalistanis became such a sticking point during his talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, that Singh refused to even hold a joint press conference with Harper. That was a considerable and quantifiable snub, and yet so many Canadian journalists left out that detail when going on about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged snub to Trudeau.

As well as guilty of blatant bias.

And worse, both the Cons and their media stooges have also failed to reveal the true nature of Narendra Modi.

Modi is the leader of the BJP, a party that openly and explicitly embraces Hindutva, or a Hindu nationalist ideology that seeks to establish Hindu hegemony over India. Literal lynchings of Muslims for purportedly eating beef have risen sharply under Modi’s rule, and roving gangs of gau rakshaks, or cow vigilantes, feel emboldened under a prime minister who oversaw one of the worst acts of mob violence against Muslims back when he was the chief minister for the state of Gujarat.

Failed to point out that the issue of Khalistan is really about human rights.

This is about Sikhs in Canada, the U.K. and the U.S. speaking out against the Indian government’s treatment of religious minorities generally, and specifically the demand for some sort of justice over the anti-Sikh pogroms in 1984 following Operation Blue Star and the assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi.

And that the same people who tried to embarrass Trudeau in India, are the same ones who are trying to portray peaceful Sikhs all over the world as terrorists.

And as a result, by acting as Modi's surrogates, the Cons and the Con media have acted more like Hindu extremists than Canadians.

Canadian politicians who either tacitly or actively court any extremist factions should rightfully be called out, but Canadians should be more concerned that a foreign government would tell us what is and isn’t acceptable for our own citizens to be doing when it comes to political mobilization and freedom of speech.

And should be condemned by all decent people,

And the good news?

Scheer and his gang have alienated and insulted a large and proud group of Canadians.

And try as they might I don't think they will win many of them back...

While Justin Trudeau on the other hand I'm sure has made many new Sikh friends...

Who will almost certainly join with others to help him win the next election.

So who says his trip to India was a failure?

And of course now we know who the Con media would make Prime Minister.

We have seen the enemy that would destroy this country, and must do what we must to resist him...

It's only thanks to the sleaze of the Con media that the Cons were able to get away with this "fake news" story. The government of India must be laughing it's head off, to see their agent Scheer Khan fool so many.

Trudeau down in the polls according to Global News. Once Scheer is in power you libs will live under our tyranny.

According to Global News the fake news coverage of Trudeau's visit has given the Cons a 38 to 33 percent lead over the Liberals. If that's true I think the Con media is in for a rough ride, and will have to explain itself.

There is a surprise in the National Post today. They went to the trade association for comment on the chickpea tariff. The cost to Canada from their figures id $100,000 a year. They seem unalarmed.

I used to think that you were too hard on the media, and that they couldn't be that bad. But not any longer. You are right, they are working to elect Scheer, and they need to be denounced.

As per Trumps trade rhetoric populism demands winners and losers. In Scheer's haste to align himself with the anti Sikh populist group he did not bother to determine that they also detest Christians. He either did not know this or the suffering of Christians in another part of the world does not matter compared to attacking Trudeau. The Monger is the real thing, a real genuine jackass! When are the real Tories going to step up and throw him and the rest of the Manning spawn into the dumpster where they belong? https://www.opendoorsusa.org/christian-persecution/world-watch-list/india/

That's all that matters to you isn't it, punishing people you don't like? You don't care about Canada, you sick con. You're a sadist, a bigot, and a fascist. Your view of the world is dying, and deserves to be crushed. Go hang out in Moscow with your inbred cousin Andy, your drunk uncle Donald and your real daddy Vladdy. Like Nannygate, Castrogate and Khangate this will be a blip on the radar. Canadians don't want a Republican wannabe rolling over for the Cheeto Cheater in Chief. Your antipope of hate is Rebel scum and therefore a traitor. Take him away!

I read somewhere that Ipsos (who ran the poll) tends to oversample the kind of true-blue cons who would rather vote in favor of cancer if Trudeau found a cure, just because they hate everything Liberal no matter what. Break down the numbers and I'm sure you'll find an uneven bulk of con support among jealous men angry about the feminist-friendly budget, and the same old decaying white rubes in the prairies, while Trudeau holds steady among the coalition of the ascendant that the jealous men and decaying white rubes are trying to keep "in their place." Once enough people notice the benefits from the new budget, and especially as we get closer to the marijuana bill going through, he's sure to bump back up again. Scheer wants to throw people in prison for smoking weed. Well, Jeff Sessions is unelectable everywhere but population-30 hick towns in Alberta where they appreciate that kind of good-ol' boy.

But Marshall's Russian-style psy-op is not to be underestimated, nor is the complicity of the revenge-seeking M$M, who no doubt is bigly mad that once again a budget passed with no bailout for their sorry behinds. Rempelthinskin is trying to force a no-confidence vote, which shows how desperate they're getting. The Tru Grit MPs are in Justin's corner, and they're not going to vote against themselves.

Damn the cons for turning this into a dirty-tricks mud fight, all because they have no platform other than "because it's 1955," "Trudeau sucks because he's Trudeau," "the root causes of root causes is Justin's hair right down to the roots," and "we don't like pink shirts or brown people; we only like brown shirts, but not pink people." Racists, bigots, religious fascists, and liars is all that they are. The fact that anyone at all would vote for that, let alone that the next election might well end up being a photo finish, says a lot about the destruction that Harper levied on his country. Shame on him, shame on Scheer, and shame on the deplorable cons.

I find it interesting that the con media should focus primarily on the chickpea tariff as an excuse to make up more fake news to slag Trudeau, instead of the latest orange-tinted (or tainted) shitstorm blowing in from south of the border. Trump just levied another stupid tariff, this time on Canadian steel, as an erratic reaction to his empire falling apart. He needs a dog to kick, so he picks on Ivanka's pretend boyfriend now that she's under investigation too -- and for the hotel she made her pet project in Vancouver. I guess Princess Brattykins won't have a tower to run away to when SHTF, where she figures she can make Prince Justin tie her up in the dungeon. But leave it to the hack press to focus on Indian chickpeas, instead of the latest action from the destroyer of worlds who likes to watch Russian chicks go pee.

Are there really enough Canadians who are so dumb and self-centered that they'd choose a Republican wannabe who would roll over and play dead for the GOP like he was Trump's "Newfoundland friend"? Instead of Trudeau, who's got a backbone like Canadian steel, they want the racist white snowflake who melts when the heat is put on him because he has sno balls? Shame on them! Go move to America if they don't like Canada so much! Hair Drumpfsterfire only wants old-stock white people coming in anyway! A vote for anyone but JT is a vote for Donald Trump! What kind of cognitive dissonance is going on up in the nice apartment that people don't seem to get that?

Manning and Scheer's religion is Mammonism and self-worship of the ego. See also Trump, Ryan, McConnell, Pence the rabid closet case who clearly has an eliminationist agenda against LGBT as an elaborate form of suicide-by-proxy. They don't care about Christians, except as useful idiots to enable their climb into power. Then, like the craven megalomaniacs they are, they discard the idiots until the next election, having served their purpose and outlived their usefulness. The only reason the cons can count on their vote time and time again is because they've conned enough rubes into believing that the other guy is worse, because he's not going to let you beat your wife or burn gay people at the stake as the one true religion of hate (a warped version of "Christianism") demands. They can't call Obama a spade like they used to in the "good old days," so therefore their "way of life" is under attack. Reminds me of an old Monty Python skit. "Help, help, I'm being repressed!"

Now Scheer recently made an unprecedented show of unhinged stupidity in declaring that he wants to follow in Trump's footsteps, by diving into the Middle East hornet's nest and having Canada declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel. More meat for the base, who don't seem to get either that Bibi is a rabid ethno-nationalist himself and corrupt crook who is also persecuting Christians and is likely to start an old-fashioned war with Iran to cover his sorry tuchus. That's fine with the religious loons, who have their hearts set on getting "raptured" as long as the mutual enemy Muslims get cleared out like yesterday's rubbish. And they can claim plausible deniability against accusations of bigotry, by hiding behind the "criticism of Israel is Nazism" card and pointing the finger at Obama, Hillary, Trudeau, even Sanders (!) as covert anti-Semites in league with scary Muslim terrorists. Clearly, we're not dealing with rational people here. We're dealing with a cult holding everyone else hostage in an undeclared national apartheid scenario. See also the third -- er, turd of the country who democratically elected Hitler in 1933. Don't think it can't happen here.

'Course, the fact that the sheep end up getting Scheered one way or another is immaterial, as long as the status quo remains entrenched and the idiots get to have their bread-and-circus fun by kicking the lesser undesirables so that nobody goes after the real enemy at the top. Ironically, it makes Scheer come across as quite the fan of an immutable caste system. He and Modi are like two chickpeas in a pod. Wonder if he's ever invited Aung San Suu Kyi on a romantic dinner date. Or would Mother not approve?

Did you say tyranny? Is that a Canadian value for you Cons? Not equality or freedom, but tyranny?

It could be an outlier poll as well, media just loves to take one crazy poll and hype it up like there is no tomorrow. Let's see where Nanos and Abacus are in the coming weeks. Even if it is an outlier, I hope it shocks Liberals into stop taking 2019 for granted.

Anonymous said...

I've never seen media like this, only in totalitarian countries is media so infected.

@yvonne4tn said...

The ONLY reason the media are highlighting Scheer and the Conservatives is that they think if they get elected then the *Gravy Train* will run again and their huge advertising windfall will be reinstated.Just like what the Harper Government gave them.

The Liberals do not take 2019 for granted. Far from it. Since the last election, they have been strongly encouraging MPs to get out there and talk to constituents regularly. In my riding, the MP, students and volunteers have knocked on doors every summer and every action day, plus the MP holds at least three town halls a year and runs an excellent constituency office. The party has set standards so that MPs who work as hard as mine will automatically be the candidate in 2019. Incumbents who don't meet those criteria will face open nominations.

hi anon@12:50...yes, the Cons and the Con media really outdid themselves didn't they. It's bas enough that they dance to the tune of the corporate bosses, but now they are also dancing to the tune of the Hindu extremists in India. As I've said so many times before; why do they hate this country so much?

Simon said...

Hi anon@1:01PM...yes, I've seen that poll, and no I'm not trembling in my boots. I'm still absolutely confident that we will beat you Cons in the next election. But thank you for reminding us all why failure is not an option...

Simon said...

Hi Jackie...when we put anon@1:01 PM on trial for treason, and for daring to threaten us, or whatever excuse we can come up with, would you mind being the crown prosecutor? And I'll be the judge, so I can heckle the prisoner, while you demand the death penalty, or a 200-year sentence. Those Cons need to be taught a lesson they'll never forget.... ;)

Simon said...

hi anon@1:19 PM...yes, I'm going to write something about that poll in the next day or so, and I'll explain why I don't think it reflects reality, and will not be the numbers on the day of the next election. It is however a sobering reminder that progressives have to get their act together, and start attacking the Cons as fiercely as they are attacking us...

Simon said...

hi anon@6:40PM...it could be an outlier, or it may represent an emotional reaction to the wave of hysteria whipped up by the Con media over the India trip, which suggested that the trip was a disaster and that Canada had been humiliated etc etc. One thing is for sure, if Scheer is indeed leading the polls now, he won't be leading them for long...

Simon said...

hi rumleyfips...I was going to squeeze that chickpea story into this post, but it just got too long. It is however yet another story where the Con media gets to shout "disaster" very loudly, and then very quietly have to correct itself. Those Con stooges cannot be called journalists, and must be denounced by all decent Canadians...

Simon said...

hi Steve...will that cheque be in dollars or chickpeas? ;)

Hi Jackie: Good question:

Are there really enough Canadians who are so dumb and self-centered that they'd choose a Republican wannabe who would roll over and play dead for the GOP like he was Trump's "Newfoundland friend"? Instead of Trudeau, who's got a backbone like Canadian steel, they want the racist white snowflake who melts when the heat is put on him because he has sno balls?

I'm going to ask the same kind of question in the post I'm going to write about that poll. I was going to write it on Saturday, but I was so annoyed, and it was such a nice day, I thought I better wait until both the weather and I cooled down. :)
But one thing is for sure, the Con media is going to have to answer for their biased coverage, and we won't be gentle...

Simon said...

hi anon@2:43...Me too hard on the media? I can't believe you're saying that what have I done to you? Seriously though, I didn't use to be so critical of the media, that was something I associated with Cons. But there is no doubt in my mind now that the press gang in Ottawa is acting like a Con cult. And the only questions now are why are they doing what they are doing, and have they no shame?

Simon said...

hi Steve...yes, the Star has indeed become more of a right-wing organization, and needless to say I find that quite disappointing. I know they are having financial troubles, and I hate to think that big corporate groups might be helping them to stay afloat in return for more favourable coverage. But I can think of no other reason the paper suddenly became so right-wing, and I intend to find out what's going on...

Simon said...

Hi RT...thanks for the link. Scheer who is as dumb as a spoon wandered blissfully into the Indian hornets nest and it's only fair that he gets stung. Modi and his nationalist gang are guilty of atrocities against Christians and Muslims, and had the Con media been better informed, the whole complexion of the story would have changed, and Canadians might have better understood what was really going on. The Con media is guilty of fraud and must be held accountable...

Simon said...

Hi Jackie...yes, Scheer's announcement that he would move our embassy to Jerusalem, is just more evidence that he has no respect for our Canadian values and traditions. He is as I have always maintained more American than Canadian, his values are Republican, and his religious fanaticism blinds him to the difference. Unfortunately the Con media are only interested in going after Trudeau, and as a result have wilfully blinded themselves to the differences between the two men.
Fortunately we still have the time to pressure the media into providing more balance, before they help the Cons try to steal the next election...

Simon said...

hi Yvonne...ike you I strongly suspect that the dilapidated state of the MSM explains there sudden shift to the right. And certainly they must dream of the days when all that porky ad money was flowing like a river in their direction. There are so many reasons people and organizations become corrupt, but that one has to be the worst. And our grubby Con media should be made to pay a heavy price....

Who is the enemy at the top?

lagatta à montréal said...

Actually, the explosion of legume farming on the Canadian Prairies is very good news indeed; diversifying agriculture and the economy, producing vegetable protein that the world needs. The chickpea flour I buy now is Canadian, not imported from Italy (though perhaps grown here, or in a third country) or from India.

There are projects underway to produce quinoa as well. Quinoa is also extremely nutritious, but the craze for it has put it out of range for many Andean Indigenous peasants, who turn to foodstuffs with less nutrition. It will grow in cold, semi-arid places.

Meegwetch101 said...

In all of this and when the dust is settled, we cannot be blind to the extraordinary influence and political interference from the Evangelical base in supporting Israel and the move of the embassy to Jerusalem. They have to be dealt with to ensure that no other religion, much less them, can impact our elections as they did in the USA and as they are trying to do in Canada as well as the world over. Their money interest must be investigated as well as their leaders because these people and this organization truly are traitors to our countries, both Canada and the USA.
