Donald Trump and the Burning of America

I've been warning for a long time that the monstrous demagogue Donald Trump could end up setting his own country on fire.

Whether he wins or when he loses.

And sure enough while Trump complains about Hillary Clinton calling some of his supporters a "basket of deplorables."

Here's what the governor of Kentucky, a Trump supporter and rabid anti-gay bigot, had to say about what might happen if those deplorables are defeated:

Yes, believe it or not, Clinton's election he said may call for shedding the blood of "tyrants" and "patriots."

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R) said on Saturday that conservatives may have to turn to physical violence to protect their values.

“The roots of the tree of liberty are watered by what? The blood. Of who? The tyrants to be sure, but who else? The patriots,” he said. “Whose blood will be shed? It may be that of those in this room. It might be that of our children and grandchildren.

Which is not just deplorable, it's dangerously deranged. And he should be arrested as a potential terrorist.

But then that is who those Trumpers are: crazy, cowardly, ignorant, violent, and feral.

69 year old Shirley Teeter, who wears an oxygen mask and lugs around a tank to support it, was protesting outside a Trump rally in North Carolina when a feral Trump turned on her and punched her right in the face. Cold-cocked her, as Shirley put it.

This is a great question:

After the interview, Teeter called News 13. She wanted to add one more thing, a question. She asks if people find a Trump supporter punching her in the face deplorable.

One that many Americans must now be asking themselves.

And one that can only make Donald Trump's claim that his supporters are being slandered sound even more ridiculous.

Or in his case fraudulent..

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said on Tuesday he had opened an inquiry into the Donald J. Trump Foundation to ensure the Republican presidential nominee’s charity was complying with state laws governing nonprofits.

Because as I predicted the other day, him and his supporters are about to be dipped like sheep, in a pool of their own excrement...

And the best news?

Whatever Trump and his supporters might want people to believe.

Vladimir Putin, an unabashed dictator who invades other countries, tramples on his people’s civil and human rights, and has the blood of Russian journalists on his hands is the proper role model for an American president.

Like the absurd notion that Putin is a great leader, or the crazed conspiracy theory that Clinton is dying.

Hillary Clinton has a fatal illness and the national media are conspiring to cover it up. (Why have I never been invited to join these conspiracies?)

Their views are all appalling, they are all deplorable...

They will incite even more progressives to get out and vote.

And they will help destroy the Republican Party.

The situation has gotten so dire, Politico reported recently, that former President George W. Bush told a reunion of members of his staff in April: “I’m worried that I will be the last Republican president.”

Actually, the Republican Party that Reagan built has been moribund since the rise of the Tea Party and the do-nothing Congress led by Mitch McConnell and John Boehner. If Trump finally kills it with his conspiracy-mongering, immigrant-bashing, race-baiting and Kremlin-loving, it will just be a coup de grĂ¢ce.

And since the best way to fight fire is with water.

All that remain to be done is to float Trump and his deplorables down a river.

And send them all to hell in a hand basket...

The sight of Matt Bevin quoting Thomas Jefferson to support his conservative pathology is really pathetic. And what is it that these conservative wing-nuts think that they have "lost"?
We hear this refrain all the time from the Cons in the US but you never hear a single detail. Unlike Harper, Obama has never done anything to thwart the normal process of government in the US. (In large part because the operations of government in the us - unlike in the Westminster system - are all written down and enshrined in law) And it is the Republicans that have tried to stop people from voting with countless voter suppression laws. The level of ignorance in the US is truly shocking.

This picture of America proves a controlled burn is well past due.

The Republicans are not the only ones charged with using voter suppression tactics. Thanks to WikiLeaks, the actions of the DNC during the Dem primary has now come to light, resulting in the resignation of the DNC chair, DWS (Debbie Wasserman Schultz) and a class action lawsuit against the Dem party.

The class action lawsuit is currently before the courts. It was brought about by Bernie Sanders supporters who are charging that the DNC and DWS had stacked the deck against Sanders to favour Hillary's nomination. In part, the lawsuit is based on the charge of voter suppression of independent voters in states like NY and CA where allegedly millions of were not allowed to vote (e.g., had their voter status mysteriously changed).

Trump may be a lot of things but he apparently won his nomination fair and square and with the establishment members of his party united in opposing him. As the lawsuit shows, the same cannot be said about Hillary where the establishment members of the Dem party allegedly stole the nomination for Hillary.

I think if Trump loses the right needs to stage a coup. To arms men! Overthrow the government and take back your country. The Day of the Rope is coming.

No Trump fan here but isn't it interesting how people ignore the inflammatory statements coming from the Hillary supporters?

Here is one where the title says it all: "Hillary Clinton Isn’t Sick. You Are." :http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/12/ageism-and-sexism-yes-but-a-lack-of-transparency-too.html

So, after watching her stumble and almost collapse and being supported by the Secret Service agents, if you express the legitimate concern whether her health can withstand the demands of the job, you must be "sick"?

Also, from the subtitle: "Older men look distinguished. Older women, well… The deck is stacked against Clinton here. All the more reason to get it all out there".

There you go - anyone who does not want to vote for Hillary must be a sexist too then. And the author went on to suggest "sexism" and "ageism" as two factors that Hillary has had to face.

Seriously, Simon, the stupid and inflammatory statements are coming from both camps, eh?

There are many genuine reasons not to vote for Hillary: her dishonesty and untrustworthiness (many polls have shown that voters actually deem her more untrustworthy or dishonest than Trump), her hawkishness on foreign policies, etc. Like our Harper, she apparently had not seen a war she did not like (Libya is now a failed state and that was under her watch as SoS, there's also Iraq, Honduras, ahd she would have nuked Iran if she had the chance).

Many respectable journalists/people like Glen Greenwald, John Pilger, Chris Hedges, and Stephen Coren, Prof. Emeritus of NYU and Princeton, have all variously expressed their great concerns with Hillary and the Dem party, charging them with inflaming the fragile relations with Russia with their neoMcCarthism. Pilger had actually even said that Hillary is more dangerous to the world than Trump. Hedges had openly said he would not be voting for either Trump or Hillary. So is Hedges a "sexist"?

See my point about the stupid and inflammatory statements coming from both sides?

Americans want change and Trump is currently the designated change agent. The first more moderate attempt was through the election of Obama but he was thwarted by his own party, the lobbyists and the RepublaCons at every turn.Although he managed to slow the rate of descent into the swamp, change was so compromised and dissed by MSN that progress was impossible to identify.Compromise and stalemate wasn't what people voted for so along comes the crazy change agent. If sane change didn't work lets try some crazy change!

The democrats could easily have won this election by launching Change Agent version 1.2 but instead they retreated back into antiquity ... what were they thinking? Like the Brexit vote it suggests that they are completely out of touch with the average American.Their only hope is that given the option between crazy change and waiting another 4 years Americans will choose the latter and Hillary will become their first woman president. Unfortunately Americans are not well known for their patience.

Bernie or bust. I'm voting for Trump.

hi Kirby...yes, the shameless bigot Matt Bevin quoting Thomas Jefferson really is the limit, especially since he forgot to add the words "like manure" which would better characterize Bevin's message. And yes, the fact that so many Americans could be fooled by a cheap hustler and Con man like Trump is truly frightening. Sadly I'm afraid a lot of it has to do with the perceived loss of so-called white privilege, and the irrational hatred for Hillary Clinton, which can only be properly explained by a rising tide of misogyny, and the refusal to countenance a women as President. I still think Clinton will win, but it will be close, and it will be a real nightmare....

hi anon...look I was a Bernie supporter, and the way the DNC and the Democratic establishment behaved was appalling and infuriating. But the fact is it didn't affect the final result. So Clinton also won the nomination squarely. Bernie gracefully conceded, and asked his supporters to support Clinton against the greater evil. So
that's what they should do, for fascism helps nobody. And can only get in the way of the revolution Sanders started, which will continue whether the Democratic establishment likes it or not....

hi Steve....it's a shocking picture, and nobody is denying that the U.S. has severe social problems. But Trump isn't going to fix them, he can only make the situation worse. And burning down the house is no way to fix anything...

hi anon...you know several years ago I worked on a project aimed at trying to stop alarming numbers of older men from committing suicide. So I am totally familiar with your kind of nihilism. And with those who are so frustrated, bitter, and depressed, they would bring down the roof on all our heads. So my advice to you is get a life. Socialise, get a hobby, stop dreaming about things that are not going to happen. And trust me, your life will be happier and better. And of course, if you don't believe me, please save a little rope to hang yourself...

Simon said...

hi anon...yes, as I've said many times, I do believe Americans have a very tough choice between two flawed candidates. But in the final analysis Trump is not as qualified as Clinton to be president, and a lot of the irrational hatred directed at her stems from the fact that she is a woman. The election of the first woman president would be a historic event, an Trump is a bigot who cannot be trusted, a climate change denier, and a blustering bully who could lead us to absolute disaster...

Simon said...

hi RT...yes it's true, Trump gets much of the wind in his sails from the very deep and very legitimate desire for change. And I still find it hard to believe that the Democrats didn't understand that, or even comprehend why Bernie Sanders was so popular. But there is no use crying about spilt milk, and we must play with the cards that have been dealt us. Trump cannot be allowed to become President, and Clinton is the only one who can stop him...

Simon said...

hi anon...yes I've been getting a lot of Con comments, and you should see all the ones I have to delete, for they are too filthy to print. But I agree with you, the generals I'm sure see Trump as a threat, and should he take power and plunge the U.S. into chaos, I would not be surprised if they would dethrone him. It would not be ideal of course, but that's where Trump is taking his country...

hi anon...no true Bernie supporter could ever vote for a racist, a misogynist, a homophobe or a xenophobe. The Bernie revolution is continuing, and Trump would only attempt to destroy it...
