The Day Harperman the Freedom Song Was Sung All Over Canada

It's sad that Tony Turner, who wrote and sings the song Harperman couldn't be there in person.

He's been suspended from his job as a scientist at Environment Canada for simply exercising his right to free expression, and forced to keep a low profile.

But wherever he was today he must smiling to know that his song was played all over Canada today.

Like at this rally on Parliament Hill.




And so many other places.

When I get more videos I'll be playing some of them on this blog.

But right now I thought I'd share this hilarious little detail with you.

So popular is the song that even the ghastly Ezra Levant, the self styled Rebel Commander of the third rate website The Rebel, is trying to cash in on its success.

And isn't this priceless?

"'Harperman' mocks Prime Minister Harper for many things. It's basically a list of conservative values. "I guess that makes me a Harperman, too! I don't take it as an insult -- It's a summary of what I believe in!

He believes this? 

Whose smarmy smile is a thin veneer?
Who preaches the politics of fear?
Ignores the plight of native folks
Missing women it's no joke.

Who muzzles all the scientists?
Calls troubled people "terrorists"
Who wants the courts to just say yes
Suppresses freedom of the press

Gawd. Those ghastly right-wingers, what are we going to do with them?

You know a couple of weeks ago I visited the Rebel Commander's Twitter site for the FIRST time, only to be greeted by this:



And although at first I was shocked, shocked I tell you. 

It didn't take me long to recover.

Because it only confirmed that he must be desperate...



Our t-shirts are sooooooo much better than his...



And if the Rebel Commander ever does this:

"I can hardly wait to start wearing mine around town. I just know it will make every hippie, eco-activist, university professor and journalist furious. And every hard-working, law-abiding, patriotic Canadian will give me a knowing thumbs-up!"

Will somebody please make a video and send it to me, so I can laugh my you know what off.

Muahahahaha.

But of course that gas bag is right, the song is a huge success. It now has more than 617,000 views on YouTube.

So thank you Tony Turner, we are all thinking of you, and hoping your suspension ends soon.

And you can be sure we'll be singing your song all the way to the election.

Until the happy day when the nasty Harperman is finally defeated...



Oh yeah, one more thing. I know we're a very quiet people. And that's OK eh?

But if we don't celebrate our small victories, and our humble heroes.

Who the hell will?
