For most of his short and undistinguished parliamentary career, Erin O'Toole has been little more than a mouth that roars.
An annoying but relatively harmless Harper stooge.
But now he's running for the Con leadership. Again.
And he's posing as a warrior, or a great defender of Canada.
It's an ugly little farce. A Home Alone 2 horror show, starring Donald Trump.
With the increasingly deranged Trump blaming Justin Trudeau and the CBC for allegedly editing this brief cameo role out of the movie.
In my last post I looked at the sad case of Michelle Rempel, and what her new American husband thinks of Canada.
Which isn't very nice, but Rempel still thinks is hilarious.
So I thought I'd share what some Canadians think of her and her husband.
Two days ago Andrew Scheer was finally forced to answer questions about what he thought of Donald Trump's racist remarks, and it wasn't a pretty sight.
He hummed, he hawed, he fidgeted like a fish on a hook. He looked really uncomfortable.
And now we know why.
For while Scheer called Trump's comments offensive, and divisive.
He's now playing the same dirty old game.
It pains me to say this, but I have to admit I was wrong about Maxime Bernier.
I always knew the man known as the Bobo from the Beauce was a Con clown, obsessed with the dairy cartel.
But I thought he was essentially harmless.
And sadly I was wrong.
I knew that some dark invisible force had recently given Andrew Scheer a big boost in the polls, and I thought I knew what it was.
A primeval panic and new eruption of toxic Trudeau hate, caused by Scheer's false claim that Trudeau was about to erase our borders, by signing the U.N. Global Compact on Migration.
And was encouraging the migrant hordes to invade our country.
A long time ago I started warning people that Andrew Scheer was not what he appeared to be. He was an alt-right sympathizer and a threat to this country and its values.
Some laughed at that warning, finding it impossible to imagine that the apparently bland nerd with the creepy smile could threaten anyone or anything.
Well Scheer has now revealed or exposed himself, and this is who he really is.
Donald Trump has been in a bit of a funk recently, ever since the Democrats wiped out his House majority. It seems he can't stand any more bad news.
So it's hardly surprising that he would try to bury a climate change report produced by his own government. By releasing it on Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving.
And claiming he didn't believe it.
But unfortunately for Trump it's not that simple.
Almost as soon as Andrew Scheer became Con leader, I warned that there was something different and strange about him.
And that politically speaking at least, he was more American than Canadian.
And sure enough now he has revealed his true colours.
For less than a year to go before the next election, Scheer and his ghastly Cons are going full Trumpling.
If the weather in the Scottish highlands hadn't been so perfect, I might have written something in the last three weeks. Especially since somebody once said that if you want to write an insightful piece about Canada you have to leave it.
So I thought I might try to explain how the Cons and other hate mongers had managed to corrupt this country so much, with the help of our shabby media and a small army of dirty old men.
But the weather was so balmy, the sea air was so fresh and clean, and I had such a great time sailing up and down the north east coast and meeting old friends in places like this one...
Canada and its fetid problems seemed so far away, and so easy to forget.
Until I travelled down to Edinburgh to participate in this big anti-Trump rally protesting his presence in Scotland.
We still don't know much about Stephen Harper's secret visit to the White House. Or what he might have talked about with Donald Trump's senior economic adviser Larry Kudlow.
For that picture of Harper leaving the West Wing with his business partner Ray Novak, is the only evidence some kind of meeting took place, and nobody is talking.
Repeated attempts to confirm the reports of any meeting between Harper and Trump officials were met with silence until after the meeting was completed, and Harper’s team has still not responded to requests for more details about the meeting.
But at least we know that Harper and his beloved Robin Novak, are still together.
It's the Canada day weekend, and it's going to be a hot one in more ways than.
It's going to feel like 45 degrees in the place where I live.
And July 1 is also the day when Canada fires back at the Trump regime.
The federal government has released its final retaliatory tariff list and is offering up to $2 billion in financial aid to the steel, aluminum and manufacturing industries.
In announcing which U.S. products would be slapped with either a 25 per cent or 10 per cent surtax, Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland asserted that Canada "will not back down."
Not with guns but other things.
As we all know, relations between Justin Trudeau and the madman in the White House have been going from bad to worse.
With Donald Trump doing all he can to try to intimidate Trudeau, and force him and Canada to surrender to his insane demands.
And now it seems he has a new, and he hopes deadly weapon, to use against us.
As you probably know, I began portraying Andrew Scheer as a compulsive liar long before the Cons made him their lying leader.
For who can forget this scandalous story?
Conservative leadership candidate Andrew Scheer exaggerated a cute story of sleeping at his parents’ home while working in Ottawa, his office said Monday after The Huffington Post Canada raised questions about potential discrepancies in his expense claims.
Where he tried to make himself look cute, only to end up looking like a Con artist.
So I'm not surprised that after about a million other lies, he has finally hit rock bottom.
As you probably know Donald Trump's decision to declare war on Canada has sent Justin Trudeau's popularity skyrocketing.
According to the latest poll his approval rating hasn't been as high since he won the 2015 election.
But since the tariffs we have imposed on the United States don't come into effect until July the first, things could get ugly fast.
In my last post I looked at how hard it was proving for Andrew Scheer to end his treasonous campaign of cheerleading for Donald Trump, and undermining his own country.
The idea of putting his country before his party and his foaming hatred for Justin Trudeau being just too hard to bear.
But eventually the pressure from outraged Canadians proved even harder to bear.
And yesterday he appeared to capitulate.
Ever since Andrew Scheer became Con leader he has been attacking Justin Trudeau like some kind of zombie from Hell, or Trump's America.
Day in day out with the support of the country's shabby Con media he has tried to debase him or portray him as a failure.
Or worse, tried to make Canadians believe that they should be ashamed of him.
For who can forget this ghastly campaign aimed at Justin and his family?
