The Christchurch Massacre and the Bigot Cons

It's a sickening act of terrorist violence that has shocked the world.

Dozens of people killed in two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Slaughtered while they prayed, just because they were were Muslims.

But don't tell Andrew Scheer that, because he couldn't even bring himself to use the word Muslim.

But then of course who can be surprised?

When just a few weeks ago Scheer addressed a rally on Parliament Hill that was riddled with racists and far-right extremists.

The kind of yellow vested bigots who reacted in this way to the massacre in New Zealand...

Scheer has also cuddled up to anti-Muslim bigots in Quebec...

Even after a gunman, inflamed by the same kind of right-wing garbage as the one in New Zealand, killed six people at a mosque in Quebec City.

When the House of Commons passed the non-binding motion M-103 condemning Islamophobia, Scheer cheerfully voted against it.

And his campaign manager Hamish Marshall once worked for Ezra Levant's hate mongering Rebel which is a font of anti-Muslim bigotry.

So as I said, who can be surprised that for Scheer bigotry is just another way to win votes?

Or that the man who has spent the last few weeks calling Justin Trudeau a criminal, deserves to be called one himself...

For whipping up hatred against Trudeau, and having done nothing to fight the hate that is poisoning this country.

You know, the Cons and the dirty old toxic Trudeau haters despise Trudeau for all kinds of reasons.

They hate him for standing up for the rights of women. They hate him for reaching out to LGBT Canadians like no other prime minister ever has.

And they hate him for trying to make other minorities, including Muslims, feel welcome in their own country.

And for becoming a symbol of tolerance all over the world.

And for that alone, at a time when hatred is on the march, he deserves to be re-elected prime minister in October.

While Andrew Scheer on the other hand deserves to be rejected by all decent Canadians.

For he is an alt-right sympathizer, he is encouraging the evil bigotry that can lead to tragedies like the one in New Zealand.

And if he is not stopped he will set this country on fire...

I hope this marks a turning point. Harper didn't give a damn about that little boy who drowned in the Med either.

My concern is copycats elsewhere in the world. Canada's bigots are already organizing using Bissonnette's appeal case as a flashpoint.

I'm worried that, as the writer behind the Anti-Racist Canada blog said, "it's not a matter of if, but when."

I'm not sure how media coverage can avoid lionizing these butchers for some right wingers. Now Bissonette has put us on this map. Brevik was the worst. Hunting down the socialists children while on an island at summer camp. A plan so diabolical its outside even what ISIS does. Though in Africa the right wing militia are after girls and against their education. Islamic terrorism like all other terrorism is right wing terrorism. I hope this guy isn't an atheist. If he is may he spend an eternity in prison with the christian super majority.

Anti-Racist Canada also reporting that the gunman's equipment was scrawled with tributes to Bissonnette -- and anger about the UN Migration Compact.

http://anti-racistcanada.blogspot.com/2019/03/massacre-at-two-new-zealand-mosques.html

For that reason alone this blood is on Scheer's hands and the entirety of the CPC. Investigate this domestic terrorist organization masquerading as a political party.

I gotta admit, it's interesting watching the usual suspects suddenly pretend that all of the xenophobia that they were peddling about Syrian immigrants and "multiculturalism" and "clash of civilizations" and all that nonsense... nah, that had nothing to do with attacks on Muslims! Just a lone wolf! Thoughts and prayers! Nothing we can do here!

I saw that Australian Senator Fraser Anning just took all the subtext and made it text with a written statement literally blaming Muslim immigrants for their own murders: https://www.vox.com/2019/3/15/18267077/australian-senator-new-zealand-attack-muslims-immigrants

If you have this mindset, that somehow this one particular religion is this big a threat, then of course this will be the logical conclusion of that thinking. You don't hold these kind of beliefs and build up the threat to existential proportions, then just stop at "I'm sure some dank memes will do the trick."

While there are no doubt some true believers here in Canada, like the Yellow Vests, the cynical politicians eager to ride that bigotry to office are particularly appalling in their lack of scruples. I hope this dogs them for a while.

It's sickening that Trump was a big inspiration for the shooter. It's apparently in his manifesto. Same with Bissonette at the Quebec City Mosque according to what he revealed to police during interrogation. Same with the murderer of the Jews a while back and the whack job who was sending bombs in the mail. Remember his tribute to Trump van? Complete with crosshairs over Trump "enemies"?
The far right are by far the biggest terrorist threat to peace loving Muslims and other people of colour around the world so seeing Scheer cozying up to his alt-right buddies makes me sick. You're "thoughts and prayers" mean nothing Andy you hypocritical, complicit POS.

It's called stochastic terrorism:

The use of mass public communication, usually against a particular individual or group, which incites or inspires acts of terrorism which are statistically probable but happen seemingly at random.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_wolf_(terrorism)

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stochastic_terrorism

Interestingly enough, the shooter's manifesto has been described as an example of "shitposting." That also happens to be how Canadian journalist Dale Smith describes Andrew Scheer's -- er, Hamish Marshall's -- social media "strategy".

https://www.bellingcat.com/news/rest-of-world/2019/03/15/shitposting-inspirational-terrorism-and-the-christchurch-mosque-massacre/

Others have described it as weaponized Gamergate. Funny that, to this day there has been only one major world leader who mentioned Gamergate by name as a problematic source of potential radicalization... and it is Justin Trudeau.

https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/canadas-feminist-prime-minister-justin-trudeau-targets-gamergate-anti-misogyny-call-action-1525176

Wake up, Canada. This is another watershed moment -- bloodshed moment. The CPC and Rebel are as responsible for this as Donald Trump.

Jackie Blue said...

GTFO with your shitposting, troll. You can't hide from this anymore. You're terrorists. Pure and simple. You Cons and your Neon Nazi MAGA Rebel scum stormtrooper vanguard are nothing but a vector of hate.

I'll have you know the real victim is the white community that will inevitably feel the backlash. So don't forget to #hugawhite and #notallwhites. Terrorist attacks are part and parcel of living in a large city after all.

Although politicians pushing dog whistle propaganda have a shameful role to play in mass shootings against religious minorities the attached article "From Columbine to Parkland: how we got the story wrong on mass shootings" makes a good case that these shooters are looking for spotlight recognition and the media supports them because sensationalism sells. Parkland was one of the first to reverse that trend where the story became about the survivors and not the shooter. These animals seem to have discovered that by surviving rather than dying on the scene they can even attract more attention. Politicians acting responsibly will help but the mass shootings will not stop until the perpetrators become non entities. But... but we need more free speech! A real catch 22 especially with the Cons working against any scientific solution so they can stir it up, gain power and bring in repressive laws to protect The People.

You know what white people the world over are sick of? This multiculturalism experiment we never asked for! From Belgium to France to Canada we are being replaced. Only a fool or a traitor wouldn't see it. The system is set up so we are powerless.

This is just a taste of the death and mayhem that will proceed. It will result in the balkanization of our society. You're a fool if you think these types of terrorist attacks are going to cease, they will multiple in frequency.

Whether its Muslim extremists, White extremists and/or anything in between. Do you have a solution? More surveillance, more censorship, more police? More thoughts and prayers? To *laughs* eradicate racism?

All this violence is sickening. It doesn't have to be like this. I want this shit to stop as much as you do. Political Correctness got us into this mess, we need real solutions to get us out.

That starts with ending this multicultural experiment.

I have no problem living in a diverse society. If you're bothered by "people who don't look like you" that's YOUR problem. You want "real solutions" to end multiculturalism? So did a racist Austrian incel 75 years ago!

Go fuck off and take your both-sides, "all lives matter" concern trolling elsewhere. The answer to this is not isolation but community. Diversity IS our strength. Don't like it? Feel free to go start a monocultural white commune on a desert island somewhere and inbreed yourselves into oblivion. You're a fool and you need to STFU.

It's worth pointing out that Anon 2:30 is the perfect encapsulation of the problem. We have no idea if this is what he actually believes or whether or not this is all an elaborate troll. But in the absence of a real name and a real face to confront with this diatribe, and any additional evidence that this is some kind of exaggeration, we have to assume that he is completely serious about this.

Furthermore, it's important to point out that this is where the Bissonnettes and the Tarrants start out. They start by "just asking questions" about "multiculturalism." It then goes to the dehumanization and as you get deeper and deeper, the threat gets amped up.

If I were to offer an earnest answer to Anon's query, it would be that more than mere multiculturalism, which has the connotation of separate siloed cultures coexisting, but never touching each other, we need interculturalism, where we share the best parts of ourselves and incorporate them into new things. Halifax wouldn't have donairs were it not for interculturalism, just for one benign example.

But seeing as you're hitting the "Great Replacement" dog-whistle that both the shooter and the Charlottesville marchers used, feel free to get over yourself and deal with it. It's unlikely you have a grasp of whatever your culture is anyway, be it spiritual, ritualistic, music, artistic or historical. So feel free to investigate that before quivering in fear because of your Muslim neighbour.

I am sure he would think your post was very spot on. I am not afraid of being replaced. I already know that no human can do that, it will only be skynet. Thats the real thing we should be afraid of, not each other.

Jackie Blue said...

Simon, I think you should see this and share with your followers. It's very powerful. This commentator on Australian (?) television was brave enough to call out political leaders for stoking the flames of hatred that caused this. He even called out PM Morrison, and he mentioned the Quebec City massacre.

https://twitter.com/theprojecttv/status/1106471346303754240

I don't see ANYBODY in Canadian media with enough stones to do that. I haven't even checked social media; in fact I blocked it on my computer. I bet they're still having a circlejerk about the fake scandal. I hope enough of Canada after today is tuning them out, and starting to pay attention to the "white" elephant in their very own room.

Hate has consequences. Bad enough when it comes from hate-mongering websites or far-right gangs. Far worse when it comes from politicians who stoke those fires for a cynical grab at votes.

Kimberley said...

This is a deplorable act of hatred and racism. Sweet Jesus when the fawk are people going to evolve? Time for this to end. I totally agree, it is the Scheers and Trumps of the world that are to blame for this horrific act of hate. But Social Media like Facebook needs to take responsibility as well.
They need to remove the content these racist shitheads post. Shut them down. Every last one of them. Start with those dumbass vest people and all the Con posts Remove the platform, remove the problem.

Jackie Blue said...

I think Facebook and Twitter just need to be shut down. Civil suits and possible criminal charges need to be brought against Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey. They've proven incapable and/or unwilling to self-govern because they're addicted to the profit motive. 4chan/8chan, Reddit, Gab, these have always been irredeemable garbage fires of hatred that should have been flushed a long time ago. Elizabeth Warren wants to break up the major tech companies, and they're scared shitless. Too bad so sad. You broke it, you need to be cleaned up -- and if necessary, thrown in the Recycle Bin.

It was 30 years ago last week that the WWW first came online and now the chief architect of it, the brilliant computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, is having an Einstein epiphany: Einstein spent the rest of his life filled with regret that his physics work was used to build the atomic bomb. I'm relatively young, but old enough to remember a time before the Internet went widespread. I think we were better off when it was restricted to technically-minded hobbyists (like HAM radio) and research institutions. We were not ready for the Mogwai, and putting this "tool" in the hands of any asshole with an iGizmo and free wifi was a big mistake. Rather like giving everyone their own copy of the nuclear football.

hi anon 2:30

Where exactly should multiculturalism stop? Should it have stopped with the original natives, the Spanish, the French, the Brits, the Catholics, the Anglicans, the Irish, the African slaves, the Chinese railroad builders, the Vietnamese, the Japanese .....?? Yes, past integrations has resulted in some death and destruction but eventually people figured out they were stronger together than fighting each other. Yet again it seems that fight we must..insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different outcome! Our birth rate is in contraction mode so society will change at some point, we can control the rate at say 1% a year and welcome the new comers to our society or resist it and be overwhelmed 10 to 20 years in the future. Don't like multiculturalism , elect a Con, build a big wall, quadruple the birth rate and become a net exporter of refugees.

"I think Facebook and Twitter just need to be shut down."

And Youtube. The intentions were good but they are now an out of control sewer of hatred that allowed the shooter to live stream his attack for 17 minutes. The only way to stop this would be ending live streaming for any jackass with a camera and moderating every single video or comment which would be highly unlikely if not impossible. Take away their platform and they have no audience and nowhere to hide behind when they spew their bile, other than by going public and revealing who they are.

@Jackie How is diversity our strength? I keep hearing it repeated like a mantra over and over. How does multiple ethnic groups with different languages, social beliefs, religion, values, culture etc. become a strength? It's a weakness. It lowers our social cohesion and trust. It's literally a bunch of different tribes fighting for their in-group. Do you think the Muslims care for the Chinese and vice versa? We tolerate each other at best, diversity divides us. You offer zero argument as to how it's beneficial. The only one it benefits is greedy corporations looking for cheap labour and politicians looking for votes.

As for KM, I hope all the future blood that will be spilled in the name of multiculturalism will be worth the donairs you're fond of. And why hasn't interculturalism happened? If diversity is our greatest strength (or so I'm told) we should all be holding hands singing kumbaya.

@RT Funny you should say that. We did elect a Con in the US who promised a big wall. Where is it? The people of the UK voted for Brexit. Where is it? Democracy is a farce, we can't vote ourselves out of this.

Hi Jackie...as you know I too have been worried about the increasingly violent threats from the bigots in this country. It's absolutely disgusting, thoroughly un-Canadian, and unless something is done about those threats they will end in tragedy. We need stronger hate laws more like the ones in Britain, because thanks to Trump's ghastly influence the situation is now out of control...

Simon said...

Hi anon...yes, Brevik was the worst. I saw a picture of him the other day giving the Nazi salute in some court, and although I'm not a violent person I was seized with a sudden desire to strangle him. The only positive thing I see coming out of this horrible tragedy is that the threat of right-wing terrorism can no longer be ignored. For it's about time....

Simon said...

Hi anon @11:58 AM...Your comment speaks volumes about the kind of people you and so many other Cons are like. You would laugh your ass off at a time of tragedy? Seek help quickly before you end up in prison or a mental hospital....

Simon said...

Hi KM...They always say that. It's never the vicious hate they peddle it's always a lone wolf. Or even worse, in this case some of those hate mongers are actually arguing that the cowardly killer was a liberal. Like Justin Trudeau I believe that video games are both a source of radicalization, and must be blamed for desensitizing many young people to the horror of mass violence. If you look at the still of the gunman's helmet cam with only the rifle in the shot it looks like any number of shooting games, which I hasten to add I never play since I hate violence with every bone in my body. And yes, you're right, this is a bloodshed moment, and if we don't crack down on the violent hate mongers in our midst it's only a matter of time before a monstrous tragedy happens here...

Simon said...

Hi JD...It is disgusting that the cowardly killer should praise Trump for inspiring him, and equally disgusting to hear Trump claim that right-wing terrorists aren't a big problem, when he has done so much to encourage them. The far-right has been the biggest terrorist threat in North America for a long time, and I only hope that this latest atrocity will result in some kind of crackdown on those who would kill others, and those who surreptitiously encourage them like Scheer and his alt-right Cons....

Simon said...

Anons 1:39 and 2:30 PM....The only reason I published your comments is to show progressives what kind of people we are up against. I'm white and I am not only NOT threatened by multiculturalism I welcome it, for it makes our world so much better and more interesting. And no the answer is not to try "ending this multicultural experiment" which would be as futile and nonsensical as trying to put out the sun. The answer is to work to improve realities between all people, and come down like a ton of bricks on the bigots that would divide us...

Simon said...

HI RT....As you point out the notion that we are all "pure" whites or blacks or whatever is absolutely absurd. After thousands of years of comingling most of us are a marvellous mixture. If I had money to waste I would buy one of those DNA tests and hope that I had a bit of everything in me. And would be very disappointed if I didn't. As for the shooters I'm glad to see that the latest cowardly killer is being denied the massive publicity he so obviously craved by live streaming his murderous spree. But of course any kind of publicity is too much and with social media providing those freaks with more tools to broadcast themselves I honestly don't know what we can do. But we will have to do something because the Christchurch killer's ghastly show is a warning to all of us. Thank goodness I've been working on my boat and have been largely disconnected from the world at large, because after the fake scandal and now this horror I'm ready to go into hibernation until Spring finally arrives...

Simon said...

Hi Jackie...thank you I'll check it out when I have a minute. I'm still waiting for our shabby media to come down hard on Scheer and his bigot Cons, but that would distract from their coverage of the fake scandal so I'm not holding my breath....

Simon said...

Hi Kimberlley....it is no absolutely disgusting act of racist violence, and Inagree with you something needs to be done about those who create the atmosphere of violence which can lead some to commit such sickening acts. As I have told other commenters I don't know how to best shutdown this hate. But for the last two years I have been warning that the hate mongers in this country were out of control, and I have been really frustrated that the MSM seems blind to the problem. We need stronger hate laws, the social media giants need to police themselves better, but unless the MSM recognizes the problem we'll get nowhere in a hurry...

Simon said...

Hi JD....I would hesitate to throw out the baby with the bath water, but after the Christchurch atrocity ending live streaming might be a step in the right direction. I was talking to my brother the other day about how different our lives were before social media took over, and we both agreed that we were lucky to have been spared from the cellphone mania when we were children....
