In the Ruins of the American Dream

The following video was shot at the Six Flags amusement park in New Orleans that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

And has been abandoned ever since.

But why does it make me think of Amerika?

After the dream died...

Hey! But the insurance paid off, and that is the American way, if not the dream.

Nice analogy. Very nice.

Abandoned Detroit is more distressing to me. There wasn't any flood, hurricane or other natural disaster.

hi Dave...thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I see Six Flags claims that the salt water damaged most of the attractions so they couldn't be fixed. But at least they saved Batman:The Ride, and moved it to a park in Texas. The dream lives on... sort of... ;)

hi anonymous...yes of course you're right, Detroit really is a sad place, and the most dramatic symbol of decline. If you shot it like this video and with the same music I'm sure it would be haunting. I can't forget that story about an abandoned warehouse full of homeless people, moving around a body frozen in a block of ice, as if it wasn't there.
Sadly, right across the river, Windsor is heading in the same direction...
