Stephen Harper's Criminally Irresponsible Reefer Madness

As we all know Stephen Harper has an unhealthy obsession with marijuana, handcuffs, and Justin Trudeau. Not necessarily in that order.

He has no respect for science, and has never seen a scientist he didn't want to muzzle.

But even by his low standards this is criminally irresponsible.

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper expressed his vehement opposition to marijuana once again, calling it "infinitely worse" than tobacco at a campaign stop in Montreal on Saturday.

"Tobacco is a product that does a lot of damage. Marijuana is infinitely worse and it's something that we do not want to encourage," Harper said.

Because I'd really like to know where he got that one from eh? Did one of the voices in his head whisper that suggestion? Or did he pull it out of his rear orifice?

For sadly, and not for the first time, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Public health experts are slamming Stephen Harper’s assertion that marijuana is “infinitely worse” than tobacco, saying the remark has no basis in scientific fact.

According to Dr. David Hammond, while there are significant health risks associated with marijuana—especially when smoked by young people or pregnant women—there is “no comparison” between the dangers it poses and the harm caused by tobacco.

In fact he couldn't be more dangerously wrong.

Dr. Robert Schwartz said each year tobacco kills more people in Canada than alcohol, motor vehicles, firearms, illegal drug use, and HIV put together.

So wrong in fact, that one really has to wonder whether he's mentally fit to remain in office, or is on drugs himself...

Because as you know he's quite a boozer eh? And a hypocrite.

But then as we also know, he's only regurgitating his reefer madness talking points because he believes the truth is what he says it is. He is a pathological liar.

And he's just whipping himself into a frenzy to try to smear Justin Trudeau. Again...

He'd rather keep marijuana in the hands of the criminals than have it controlled by the government. Because he hates government, his Cons ARE criminals. They don't call him Boss Harper for nothing.

And he loves pleasuring his rabid base, and no doubt himself, by throwing even more Canadians, especially younger ones, in jail...

For he does love handcuffs, and muzzles. And he'd do us ALL in his dungeon if he could. *Shudder*

And of course these days he has yet another reason to peddle dangerous disinformation.

And that's because his Australian attack monkey Lynton Crosby, the one who brought him back from the dead, is also a huge lobbyist for the tobacco industry...

As we all know he's running Canada these days, and poisoning it with bigotry.

And Steve is so grateful, he'd do anything to pleasure his toxic Aussie ape for helping him hijack this election.

At least that's how I think the anti-Harper forces should frame this question. Because let's not forget with most Canadians supporting decriminalization.

His threats to criminalize marijuana even further could do him great damage.

And let's be clear. A leader who would put his depraved lust for power before the health of his own people, and intentionally seek to mislead them, is clearly unfit to remain in office. And should probably be jailed.

And it is reefer madness...

So young Canadians, let that Con horror story be a good lesson, and a wakeup call.

Get out and vote, strategically, for anyone but Harper.

Or you could go to jail, just for smoking marijuana.

And meet him in your nightmares...

How many people worldwide die of marijuana overdose?

http://www.newhealthguide.org/Can-You-Overdose-On-Marijuana.html

How many people worldwide die of alcohol overdose, alcohol-related diseases, drunk driving, etc.

http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/addiction/features/12-health-risks-of-chronic-heavy-drinking

So why isn't Harper wanting to ban any and all beverages containing alcohol???

Simple answer, David?
Junkies don't fuck over their drug of choice.
crosby's doing a hell of a job of making the older canadians look like a bunch of neurotic assholes!
they're licking up every bit of shit he tells heil harper to spew.
Stupid and psychopath are not synonymous after all.

When the National Post believes Harper is not stating facts you know Harper's campaign has gone of the rails.

Harperman has never believed in science. He believes the earth is 6,000 years old, Jesus will rise again, and is so out of touch with everyday Canadians he'll try to twist and distort logic.

Canadians know better. You'll see a continued upsurge of Liberals in the next few weeks.

Trudeau is going to be a great PM.

Harper is a psychopath! He will say or do anything to hold on to power.By not allowing 2/3rds of Canadians into his campaign stops, he really thinks he's controlling the message. Canadians should be really disturbed that almost everything that comes out of his mouth is a bold face lie. He is truly desperate. With Harper, desperate means dangerous.

I agree with everything you said except that I see Harper as a pathological control freak, not a "big boozer". The Beer photo ops are to connect with Joe Normal, who "enjoys his beer" and "harmless jokes" about Native people, gays, welfare bums, fake refugees, towelheads and what have you.

I really hope the kids move out soon and enjoy a harmless toke, without going overboard, as young people from such control freak environments often do.

finally Steve has taken on an issue which may get younger voters out to vote against him. I do hope it works. Weed is not dangerous and Steve simply looks like an idiot. anything is dangerous if you over indulge, even ice cream.
In my opinion alcohol is much more dangerous. We all know about drinking and driving. We all heard for the past few hundred years about drunk men who would go home and beat and/or kill their wives and children. its why the Americans brought in prohibition, in part. Never did hear about people smoking weed and beating some one up. usually its go to sleep after eating too much of something.

as to the criminality of weed, legalize it. license it, let people grow it, set up small businesses, TAX IT. Colorado is making money hand over fist for their treasury. Steve just doesn't get it. Must have pickled his brain with too much booze. How else can we account for his weirdness.

Lets hope some smart organizer send out tweets on election day to all young people reminding them to vote or they could wind up in jail for weed.

hi anon....yes he really is making a fool out of himself. He has already alienated the Canadian Medical Association, and now he's trying to take us all for fools. The man is a reefer maniac. But the good news is, as I pointed in my post, a large majority of Canadian support decriminalization so he's on the wrong side of history, and it could cost him...

hi David....marijuana does have some harmful effects and it should be kept out of the hands of children. But its negatives pale in comparison to the damage caused by alcohol and tobacco. So it is absolute nonsense and I have no idea why Harper is beating that drum so loudly. The only thing I can think of is that he still needs to firm up his rabid base. But the good news is that hopefully it will firm up our base of younger voters, and encourage more of them to turn out and cast a ballot...

hi anon...yes, as I told David, I think Harper is trying to firm up his base, for only they could believe such nonsense. And yes hopefully Justin can jam Harper into a bong, and smoke him right outta here... ;)

hi Pamela....I believe you're right and that it is a sign of desperation. But it really is appalling. He is actually undermining the battle against tobacco by claiming that marijuana is more dangerous. The truth means nothing in his filthy Harperland, and we can't get rid of him soon enough...

hi lagatta....I was going to dig up a quote of Harper's talking about drugs because it is one of the craziest things he ever said. Where he turns drugs into an ideological position that would not look out of place in the movie Reefer Madness. But as for Harper the boozer, I was just having a little fun. He will promote booze and give the tobacco lobby a boost, but he won't stop sending people to jail for the "crime" of growing or smoking marijuana. And he simply couldn't look more outdated or more pathetic...

hi e.a.f....as I think I've mentioned before, I have seen the horror of alcohol abuse and other hard drugs, and it's simply horrifying. While I have yet to see a single case of a medical problem caused solely by marijuana. Just the other day in Ontario, a drunk driver took out a grandfather and three of his young grandchildren. And the scene was so shocking the paramedics who were called to the accident site had to book off afterwards as they were sick with shock. Let's hope that this absurd war on marijuana ends soon, with the departure of that reefer maniac...

Hi Simon, it is right at the CBC. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/stephen-harper-pot-marijuana-1.3255727

A lot of campaigners for tobacco cessation, such as Physicians for a Smoke-Free Canada, will be furious about this. No other substance kills half its users.

I'm thinking that those tokes were the least harmful substance former Mayor Rob Ford injested for several years, between (too much) beer - while driving!, hard liquor, crack cocaine, heroin and above all mountains of junk food.

Harper claims he wants to keep drugs out of the hands of children, but has no qualms about his son having under age drinking parties at 24 Sussex, to the point where an ambulance was needed to take one of the under aged girls to the hospital for acute alcohol poisoning. Can you spell hypocrite, Stephen.
