It was just another dull government statement of the kind they churn out all the time. But it really made my day.
Because what it means is that in another Canadian city, fewer people like those in the picture are going to die from drug overdoses.
Today, Health Canada granted the necessary exemptions from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for the operation of three new supervised consumption sites in Toronto.
And not only is that great news because of the thousands of lives that will be saved.
It's also another massive blow to the inhuman legacy of the monstrous Harper regime...
It's not a very good picture, but I thought I'd keep it anyway, because it's historic.

Which as you can imagine had the Cons and the pathetic Con media in a tizzy, praising her as the Greatest Prime Minister Canada Never Had.
And had the idiot Ambrose aka The Village Idiot, no doubt thinking it was only what she deserved.
As the country mourns the victims of the massacre in that Quebec City mosque, we are also finding out more about the terrorist who shot them.
And what might have motivated Alexandre Bissonnette to commit such a brutal and cowardly act.
The suspect in the deadly attack on a Quebec City mosque was known in the city’s activist circles as an online troll who was inspired by extreme right-wing French nationalists, stood up for U.S. President Donald Trump and was against immigration to Quebec – especially by Muslims.
But even though Trump's anti-Muslim campaign may have emboldened him, the bigotry that inflamed him was nurtured right here in Canada.
It isn't the biggest story in the world, compared to the coming of Trump, or for that matter any other story.
But like the ghost of Harper past, the old Con Joe Oliver is back in the news. And sadly for him not in a happy way.
For after losing his seat in the last election, now he's lost his chance to get back to power.
After falling off his shaky perch. Again.
As you may have heard, Stephen Harper is finally gainfully employed again, after getting paid to do nothing for so long.
And although he hasn't yet asked Big Oil for a job, he's clearly got plans to become a very rich man.
For not only does he have his own consulting business, he has joined Dentons the world's largest law firm.
Which as you can see has made him very, very, happy.
Yesterday I ran a Michael Harris column that looked at the Cons apparent death wish.
And how they seemed unable to escape the deathly legacy of Stephen Harper.
And I also wondered how Rona Ambrose's decision to criticize Kellie Leitch for her demagogic proposal to screen immigrants for "anti-Canadian values,"would affect Ambrose's leadership.
And her ability to hold her party together.
As Canadians debate Stephen Harper's legacy, and the Cons and the Con media try to whitewash it beyond recognition.
It's important to remember one of Harper's worst, and definitely most insane decisions.
His decision to kill the long-form census.

Well it seems that Michelle Rempel got what she wanted. Got comedian Mark Critch to surrender.
With a deranged Twitter rant, and a volley of vulgar words.
Comedian Mark Critch has removed a photo mocking former prime minister Stephen Harper from his Instagram account following a barrage of tweets from a Conservative MP that included obscenities.
Which is both sad and pathetic.
But what the wretched Rempel will NEVER succeed in doing is bullying other Canadians into whitewashing the legacy of this pathetic loser.
Yesterday I wrote a short post about Stephen Harper's legacy.
It had to be short because there wasn't much legacy to write about.
Only the lingering stench of a nightmare that had to be lived to be believed.
And after spending every single day for almost ten years writing about Harper and his filthy un-Canadian regime I'm just about out of words.
So I thought I'd let Michael Harris, who fought the tyrant so well, render the final verdict.
As we all know Stephen Harper used the Canada Revenue Agency for his own foul purposes.
To try to intimidate his enemies, and harass environmentalists, and even humble birdwatchers.
But although Harper has left the building, it seems the CRA is still haunted by his foul legacy.
As long as Stephen Harper was in power there was never any hope of enhancing the Canada Pension Plan.
Because he always claimed the economy was too fragile to afford it, he didn't like the idea of pensions, and believed that Canadians should save for their own retirement.
So I'm glad that now that he is gone, the federal government and the provinces will be meeting in Vancouver today to see what can be done to enhance the CPP.
But I'm not surprised that the Harper Party hasn't changed its position.
As you probably know I have been extremely pleased by the systematic way Justin Trudeau and his Liberals have been demolishing Stephen Harper's foul legacy.
Scrapping his monuments, deep sixing his fascist crime bills, taking out the garbage, and improving our image in the eyes of the world.
And in that regard this is another excellent move.
As you know I think Justin Trudeau and his government are doing an amazing job of destroying Stephen Harper's foul legacy.
And have made this country a better place to live in, as well as restored our image abroad.
But that doesn't mean that I agree with everything they are doing.
And I definitely don't agree with this decision.
As you know, Rona Ambrose is finally trying to put some distance between herself and Stephen Harper.
Desperately trying to dispel the notion that she's no longer his faithful puppet, as she was for so many years.
And if you remember, at the recent Press Gallery dinner, she even went so far as to declare that "the bad man's gone."
But sadly for her and her Cons, the monster may have left the building, but his legacy lives on.
For what sometimes seems like forever, the F-35 fighter jet has been hovering over Canada like some kind of giant bat.
And even though it has been a comedy of errors, more hot air has been expended talking about it than is blown out of its rear orifice.
And now this pathetic saga has taken another turn with its maker Lockheed Martin threatening to blackmail Canada.
I'm going to spend some time this weekend filing away or deleting some of the more than a thousand photoshop creations I made of Stephen Harper during his hideous years in power.
Because after his pathetic speech the other night, even I am now convinced that he really is gone, and that he won't ever be back.
So after so many years I can finally relax, settle back in my hammock, and await the verdict of history.
Because I'm sure it will be a harsh one.
It was as ghastly as I had imagined. The tacky tribute video looked as if it had been put together by the same Cons who brought us the Porky Action Plan.
But it did bring back horrible memories of the way Stephen Harper loomed over us for so long, trying to brainwash us into submission.
While he brutalized this country, its democracy, and its values, over and over again.
But still won't admit it.
As you may or may not know, the Irish Republic is marking the 100th anniversary of the so-called Easter Rising.
The brutal battle in the heart of Dublin, which eventually led to the independence of that country.
An estimated 485 people lost their lives in almost a week of fighting between the republican rebels and British armed forces in the city. More than half of those who died were civilians, including 40 children.
And the theme is peace and reconciliation.
So in that regard I don't think this action by our Canadian ambassador was particularly helpful.
Well I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, after the way he reacted to the elbowgate incident in the House of Commons.
When he looked like he was about to run for the safety of his well worn closet.
But now it seems that Stephen Harper is finally going to retire.
