Donald Trump and the American Horror Story

He managed to deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress, without straying from the script on his tele prompter.

And that so impressed some in the media they praised him for acting like a  "normal president."

But of course Donald Trump couldn't keep up that act for long, and early this morning he once again proved why he is unfit to be president.

With this barrage of deranged tweets.

In what is clearly a desperate attempt to try to deflect attention away from the growing scandal threatening his administration.

President Donald Trump, under siege for alleged ties between his campaign and Russia, on Saturday morning sought to deflect attention by accusing former president Barack Obama of tapping his Trump Tower phones prior to the election.

Even though there is no evidence that Trump's phones were tapped.

A New York Times article published on Jan. 19 – just one day before Trump’s inauguration – reported that U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies had intercepted communications and financial transactions as part of a probe of links between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials.

There has been no definitive reporting, however, that any phone lines belonging to the Trump campaign were tapped.

But there is growing evidence that the Trump administration may be guilty of treason.

The scandal is spinning off in multiple directions, but at bottom it suggests a betrayal of American sovereignty by Trump that is unprecedented in the history of the republic.

For a still-unclear combination of reasons — greed for power, greed for money, vulnerability to blackmail, or motivations unknown — the incoming administration cooperated with the undermining of American democracy by a hostile foreign power.

And as Paul Krugman writes, goodbye spin, hello raw dishonesty.

At this point it’s easier to list the Trump officials who haven’t been caught lying under oath than those who have. This is not an accident.

But if this is happening don't just blame Trump.

No president, or for that matter major U.S. political figure of any kind, has ever lied as freely and frequently as Donald Trump. But this isn’t just a Trump story. His ability to get away with it, at least so far, requires the support of many enablers: almost all of his party’s elected officials, a large bloc of voters and, all too often, much of the news media.

Blame his enablers, including some in the media, who would try to normalize his depraved presidency.

To be fair, the first weeks of the Trump administration have in important ways been glory days for journalism; one must honor the professionalism and courage of the reporters who have been ferreting out the secrets this authoritarian-minded clique is so determined to keep.

But then you watch something like the way much of the news media responded to Mr. Trump’s congressional address, and you feel despair. It was a speech filled with falsehoods and vile policy proposals, but read calmly off the teleprompter — and suddenly everyone was declaring the liar in chief “presidential.”

The point is that if that’s all it takes to exonerate the most dishonest man ever to hold high office in America, we’re doomed.

When no decent person should even attempt to try to normalize this American horror show...

As Trump himself likes to say: something is going on, something is not right.

And judging from his reaction this morning, something has him running scared.

Is it dirty money or dirty sex? Who knows?

But if the heat can be turned up further, don't be surprised if he cracks.

And does eventually end up in the place where he belongs...

The pundits shattered my faith in everything by praising that terrorist style speech, I'll admit I was down in the dumps. However the investigative reporters renewed my faith in the idea that this basket full of scum will rot in jail

If Trump's lines were tapped, we should be very concerned. Whatever information that lead to warrant must be quite something.

But you are right, more smoke and mirrors. Hard to imagine this going on for four years...

On another note, the juxtaposition of Melania Trump and Michelle Obama visiting public schools last week...

While the type of misconduct by a US President of which Obama is accused would seem inconceivable and un-American, we should be reminded that it could be the norm in Kenya.

The Origins of Totalitarianism

The orangutan is growing ever more rabid as the truth inches closer to exposing his web of lies.
As his approval ratings drop, so to do the bombshells that will eventually destroy him. His increasingly bizarre and no-facts claims will continue to erode his support until all he has left are his shit-for-brains deplorables.
The press and late night comedy shows will rightfully keep poking him with their sticks as we laugh along until the fateful day The Donald finally goes off the deep end.
That will be the day the real "Mad Dog" will be revealed and his shit show circus will finally and mercifully go down in flames.

The problem with hacking an election is that the weaponry has to be quickly dismantled afterwards to avoid detection. That leaves a huge power gap that is normally filled in third world countries by appointing a few military and justice compatriots to silence or jail the opposition. Not so easy in the US where democratic institutions are stronger and much of the power is decentralized. Distractions such as immigration policies and wall talk can by a little time to tinker with the levers of government but his losses seem larger than his gains. Now that the bot megaphone is silent his tweets get ridiculed for spelling errors rather than starting a shit storm. The faithful are still there but its all about who controls the middle ground and that's slipping without the virtual support. Dinkie Donnie is wounded but not out however it will take something big to save him and the Bannon inspired agenda. Lets hope Lady Luck gives him a good shower followed by a flush instead.

He is going down.

hi anon...yes, some in the MSM were too quick to declare Trump's speech a triumph, when it was riddled with lies, and reeked of insincerity. But I knew Trump couldn't keep up that act, people who have worked with him claim he has the attention span of a mosquito. And if the stench of scandal keeps getting stronger and stronger he will end up in a really bad place....

hi TS...I agree, if Trump's phone was wire tapped it would be serious, because it would mean that a judge had cause to believe that a crime had been committed. However they could also be tapping other offices in Trump Tower since a number of shady characters also operate out of there. But if Trump is inventing such a story, his fitness to be president must once again be called into question...

hi John... thank you for pointing that out no angle must go unexamined. Although I want Trump to testify at his own trial, and explain why he apparently liked to listen to the phone calls made by some of his guests at Mar-a-Lago, with a special console he could take to bed. Could Trump have tapped himself?

hi anon...I assume you're talking about Patrick Brown, the would be next Premier of Ontario. If that's the case don't worry, my team is digging up dirt on him and some of his MPPs, and we'll be ready to unload on him soon...

hi anon...thanks for that. We all need to take a crash course on totalitarianism. I also think Americans need to be reminded that Trump used to keep a copy of Hitler's speeches on his bedside table. What kind of normal person does that?

hi JD...now, now, please don't insult orangutans, they are gentle shy creatures who should not be compared to a beast like Trump ;) But yes the beast is growing ever more rabid, and his infatuation with social media is his achilles heel. For the more he is poked the crazier he will get, and the easier it will be to remove him...

hi RT...the depressing part is that so many of his supporters believe everything he says. I read the Breitbart story on Trump's wire tapping claim and there were thousands of comments claiming that it was all a "deep state" coup against their great leader. For them he can do no wrong, and if or when the time comes to force Trump from office, the fanaticism of his supporters could lead to a cataclysmic confrontation. The day Trump was elected president set a time bomb in motion, and we are all going to pay for that insane vote....

hi anon....I have to believe that he will go down unless he moderates his behaviour. Four weeks of insanity have shaken up Americans like no leader before him has ever done. And I very much doubt that Americans will put up with four years of the same nonsense....
