The Royal Bank and the Foreign Cons
By now you've probably heard about this outrageous story.
Dozens of employees at Canada’s largest bank are losing their jobs to temporary foreign workers, who are in Canada to take over the work of their department.
But while the Royal Bank richly deserves what's coming to it, so do the Harper Cons.
For they have been bringing in foreign workers by the plane load ever since they took power.
As this graph clearly shows:
Bringing them in to work all over the country. In the fields, in the Tar Sands, in mines like this one.
An internal federal review of a decision to grant permits to a Chinese company to bring temporary foreign workers from China for its British Columbia coal mine found the company met or exceeded all requirements.
But the November report notes that the sequence of events in HD Mining's application to bring 201 miners over from China for its Murray River coal mine leaves some questions as to the "genuineness" of the company in its search for Canadian workers.
And while the companies who benefit from this cheap labour are getting away with murder, so are the Harper Cons.
For they are bringing them for an even more sinister reason than those profit grubbing busenesses. They are bringing them in to lower wages, and bust unions, so they can sell us out to foreign interests.
Don't blame the foreign workers, for they too are being exploited.
Blame the greedy, incompetent Canadian business class for failing to train Canadians, like businesses in other countries train young workers, or re-train older ones.
And above all blame the foreign Cons for betraying their own people.
They smeared Michael Ignatieff for being a "foreigner."
Now it's time to return the favour.
For as the economy tanks, and the Cons are already being accused of being sellouts, the foreign worker scandal can play into those feelings, and do them enormous damage. Rip off their fake nationalist trappings, and make them look like sellouts.
Or sleazy Con artists who can't be trusted.
Two-thirds of Canadians believe Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government is too secretive and has failed to govern with high ethical standards, a new poll has found. The national survey conducted exclusively for Postmedia News and Global Television by Ipsos Reid also finds that after seven years in office, half of the country still believes that Harper has a “hidden agenda.”
Golly. I can hear the attack ads now. Who is Harper REALLY working for? Texas, China or India? What is he hiding? What is his hidden agenda? How many foreign workers is he really bringing in? How many of us will lose our jobs? What doesn't he want us to KNOW ?
And of course, why does he hate Canadians (except Albertans) sooooo much?
Yup. Just do it. For the sake of this poor RBC worker:
“I am going to be broke," he said. "I don’t have enough money to live on. I have some RSPs. I have very little in the pension plan at RBC … I have a wife that works part time at a very low wage.”
Who broke my heart, and made me feel so sad and angry.
Or this one:
It’s horrible to be in this situation,” the employee said. “The bank is doing this while making billions of dollars in record profits and they don’t think about the impact on us. We are like fleas on an elephant.”
Or just do it for the sake of all the unemployed Canadians who the Cons are trying to portray as too lazy, or too stupid to work in their own country.
Yup. I think it's time we defined the Foreign Cons eh?
As they have done to others.
Get the attack ads ready.
Have them drink their own poison...
