A few months ago, I questioned whether Tony Clement was the right Con to go after Liberal scandals, considering how many scandals he had in his past.
Like the way he spent #50 million of G8 border security money on unrelated projects in his riding, like that gazebo in the middle of nowhere.
Or the way he mutilated the long form census, for no good reason.
And now of course there's this scandal.
Andrew Scheer is still claiming that his "positive message" is working, and that more and more Canadians want him to be prime minister.
But sadly for him, he's either terribly wrong, or lying. Again.
For he has no positive message, just the same old Rebel-style attack ads aimed at Justin Trudeau, brought to us by his ex-Rebel campaign manager Hamish Marshall.
And as for Scheer's popularity, according to the latest Nanos poll, it's STILL tanking.
I guess the look on Doug Ford's face says it all.
He doesn't seem to know what's happening, or what he's supposed to say. Except maybe, who knew it was so hard to be a Premier?
He doesn't understand why his Harperite handlers are frantically shuffling his cabinet like pack of cards after only FOUR months in power.
He doesn't understand why it's all going so wrong, so soon, and so fast.
I can only imagine how Donald Trump must be feeling, with the midterm elections now only a few hours away.
He's been ranting and raving and spewing out bigotry, at one rally after the other.
So he must be bagged, he's clearly desperate, and the suspense must be killing him.
But then he isn't the only one, for the horrible truth is that nobody really knows what's going to happen tomorrow.
It was just over a week ago, when a desperate Andrew Scheer came out of the closet as a full blown Trumpling.
A secret admirer of the Orange Oaf, and a wannabe Trump himself.
By declaring war on the "fake news" media.
It's been three tough years. Demolishing Stephen Harper's grim legacy took longer, and was probably harder than Justin Trudeau had imagined.
And no prime minister has ever been attacked as viciously as he has, by the Cons and their media stooges.
But with less than a year to go before the next election, even some of his strongest critics are now finally asking themselves the obvious question:
If not him WHO?
He's always been a liar. A firm believer in the old saying that a lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.
But during the midterm election campaign he has been outdoing himself.
In the first nine months of his presidency, Trump made 1,318 false or misleading claims, an average of five a day. But in the seven weeks leading up the midterm elections, the president made 1,419 false or misleading claims — an average of 30 a day.
And what is now only too clear is that it takes two to play that dirty game. The monster himself, and the Republican Party.
There are now just five days to go before the midterm elections, and Donald Trump has never felt so threatened.
Polls suggest that he could lose control of the House and maybe even the Senate.
So he's pulling out all the stops.
And playing the racist card
He's the self appointed leader of the anti-carbon tax gang. And Doug Ford has been on a rampage recently.
Yesterday he officially killed Ontario's cap-and-trade program, while his ghastly Cons sang the Monster Mash.
The day before he met with weak Andrew Scheer to coordinate their planned assault on Justin Trudeau's federal carbon tax.
Reinforce their power relationship.
As I'm sure you can imagine, it wasn't Andrew Scheer's best Halloween ever.
He's looking a little ragged these days. The creepy smile is gone, he's angry and desperate.
He's been going after Justin Trudeau as if he wanted to bite him.
And trying to turn his carbon tax into a nightmare.
