The Christianists and the Krispy Kreme Conspiracy

As you probably know I believe that religion is a mild mental disorder. Except when it comes from groups like the Christianist homophobes and fetus worshippers at Lifeshite.

Where it's nothing less than screeching fullblown insanity.

The next time you stare down a conveyor belt of slow-moving, hot, sugary glazed donuts at your local Krispy Kreme you just might be supporting President-elect Barack Obama's radical support for abortion on demand

Just an unfortunate choice of words? For the sake of our Wednesday morning doughnut runs, we hope so. The unfortunate reality of a post Roe v. Wade America is that "choice" is synonymous with abortion access and celebration of 'freedom of choice' is a tacit endorsement of abortion rights on demand.

Celebrating his inauguration with "Freedom of Choice" doughnuts – only two days before the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision to decriminalize abortion – is not only extremely tacky, it's disrespectful and insensitive and makes a mockery of a national tragedy.

Golly. Let me get this straight. Krispy Kreme offers a free donut of choice...like a chocolate or honey one....and these kooky wookies think it's a secret message promoting abortion on demand?

CHEE---SUS. Hit me with a Boston cream pie. What I want to know is does the secret service know about this? And did someone warn Obama's friend.....the fat bigot Rick Warren?

Because I hear he LOVES them...

Seriously though.... when will these crazy Christianists ever learn that women's bodies belong to women?

Not to them.

And that the only Jesus I want is this one....

Or at least my dog does.

So he can play with it like his bunny. While I run down to the store and get me a ton of Krispy Creme donuts.

I'm not a big donut eater eh? But now that I know the "secret message."

I'm sure I'm going to LOVE them....

I am so sick of Christians, Muslims and Jews. All of them are completely nuts, sociopathic and infantile. "I can say and do whatever I want because I will be forgiven". I can say whatever I want because if you're a Christian, a Jew or a Muslim, you will believe me. Without question. Assholes.

Hmm.. all of us are completely nuts, sociopathic, and infantile Jymn?

I'm a Christian, and I think I'm fairly sane, thank you very much.

You need to learn to stop painting or tarring people with a large brush.. something we progressives often accuse the right-wing of doing... but who often forget about that and do the exact same thing when they talk about people of faith.

Krazy Krispy Kreme Konspiracy.

Tinfoil hats anyone?

My apologies, Scott. I have painted a huge brush that wipes out some good people. And that is not fair.

Then again Scott, I haven't seen a whole lot of good come from the religious people of any faith. I've seen wars, lies and corruption. Where are the questions? Where are the doubts? Faith is absolution and I believe in it. But, I don't believe in blind faith. I am not a progressive when it comes to abuses of the less entitled. And the blind faithful in defined religions have ALWAYS made waste of those who question them. If you can't stand the questions in your faith, Scott, who are you?

Scott, one more thing. We people who question live in a world religious people govern over. Nudity is pornography. Bush, Obama and Harper are the leaders because of their religion. Movies and TV are filled with the dialogue of children because of fear of religious censorship. Drugs and pleasure are a crime because of religion. Women are robbed of their choice because of religion. Scott, you have the upper hand. You are the king. We are merely slaves with the impotent threat of insult as our only tool.

But I still love you, Scott.

You have a picture of Barack Obama with a sprinkled donut. Isn't that like kinda promoting... er... you know? Gay stuff?

Sprinkles? Rainbow colours? Gay colours? Gay agenda against the family? The Von Trapp family! Do re me fa so la ti do!

Society started going down the tube when Sharon, Lois, and Bram were subliminally promoting an alternative way of life. The elephant made things worse by adding a bestial relationship. I wonder what kind of donuts they ate in the 80's. Chocolate iced with sprinkles on top I'm guessing.

Hopefully, you know that I'm kidding.

Hi everyone...golly... a fullblown theological discussion on my my blog. I don't know whether to be flattered or shocked. :)
For the record I understand how Jym feels about religion. But I also agree with Scott that you can't tar everyone with the same brush...because there are good religious people...and I don't judge people on their beliefs but only on how they treat other humans.
Although nothing will shake my firm belief that religion is a delusion that can distract us from dealing with the problems of this world...our heaven and our hell.
As well as fomenting hatred against me and so many others. And that when it comes to Lifeshite, as Sassy suggests, we really do need tinfoil helmets.
As for you Skinny Dipper I firmly deny that I intended to suggest that the fat bigot Rick Warren is a closet queen.
But now that you mention it why not? ;)

Yeah what Jymn said was not only markedly offensive, but almost entirely inaccurate.

Please enlighten me as to the religious war(s) which you are referring to? Namely, any war that isn't completely fueled and/or run by the lunatic fanatic fringe of said religion?

Really, it is comments like that that make me quite intolerant of evolutionists/"atheists" (who are actually agnostics). True progressives, in my opinion, accept religion, just like they accept everyone.

For the record, I believe in creation AND evolution (oooo intrigue).

I do appreciate your apology, though. On your other point, Judaism's absolute faith you speak of- in actuality, true Judaism is about questioning EVERYTHING, all the time. Quite the contrary of blind faith! In fact, just this past summer, I attended a Jewish youth retreat where the THEME of a program was blind faith and how dangerous it is. I can't speak to other religions, but for my own religion, I can.

And of course, great article, Simon.
