The Con Regime and the Maple Leaf Forever Tree

I'm sure it was just a coincidence eh? Just another leafy victim of this massive thunderstorm that smashed into Toronto yesterday.

But how ironic that just days after the Con regime announced it's taking the maple leaf insignia off the shoulders of our soldiers, the Maple Leaf Forever tree should come crashing to the ground.

By the time I got there this afternoon Hydro crews had carried the old silver maple away...

But in the garden of Alexander Muir's old house I found a small branch still lying there.

And I brought some leaves home.

I'm going to press them between the pages of one of my most precious heirlooms...

And when I can afford it, I'm going to put them in a fancy frame with a suitable inscription.

But I won't hang them on a wall until the day the Con regime comes crashing down, like the old tree itself.

Because Harperland isn't Canada eh?

Not when the foul Con regime and its depraved leader are putting decent Canadians on an Enemy List.

The Harper PMO, when they finally get around to concocting talking points about their enemies list, will say that (a) it was the fault of a misguided young staffer, (b) it was never acted upon, (c) the Liberals did the same thing, and (d) the sponsorship scandal. Rinse and repeat, etc.

But no one should be fooled: The Harper PMO drew up an enemies list, and they did so because they expected it to be acted upon by ministers and staffers who possess real power. If even one of them has done so — even once — they have committed a crime.

If you’ve ever written a letter to the editor criticizing Stephen Harper — if you’ve ever stood for office against one of his allies, or if you have participated in a grassroots campaign against one of his policies — you deserve to know if you are on that list. And you deserve to know what, if anything, was done to you by Stephen Harper’s Nixonian PMO.

Not when they're acting like criminals.

Stories swirl about the RCMP investigation into Senator Mike Duffy’s affairs. These stories more than suggest a sustained effort by the Prime Minister’s Office not to come clean, but to cover up to the greatest extent possible.

Not when even Jeffrey Simpson now recognizes that Stephen Harper will NEVER change his colours...

A few faces can change, but the Harper Conservatives cannot. How they do politics and how they govern – the former often trumping the latter – reflects who they are, how they think, how they see the world, how they see democracy. These attitudes emanate from the very top, and Mr. Harper cannot change.

And of course, not when his alien regime is trying to diminish our precious maple leaf symbol.

You know, I don't really like Alexander Muir's original lyrics. Because of the times he lived in they are a bit too British colonial for me.

But I quite like Vladimir Radian's alternative version.

Protect the weak, defend your rights,
And build this land together,
Above which shine the Northern Lights,
And the Maple Leaf forever!

And I've always loved the tune.

So I thought I'd put together a little video excerpt, with music from the 48th Highlanders of Canada, and some pictures of mine and others I borrowed from the internet.

To remind Harper and his gang what the maple leaf means to us.

The poor old tree may have come crashing down.

But the song goes on forever...

Yup. Until the day the day the Cons are defeated.

Until the day we get our country back.

Sing it loudly and proudly eh?

The Maple Leaf Forever !!!!

We all know. Harper hates everything that is Canadian.

It is Harper goal to, utterly destroy CBC. Harper is destroying our Canadian Democracy. He is taking our Civil Rights and Liberties away from us. He wants to take away, our Freedom of Speech. Harper is taking our Human Rights away from us too.

Harper is a monster, a Dictator, a control freak and, despised by much of the world. He is just as hateful as, Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini. Harper is every bit as paranoid and hateful, as they were.
