It's now been four days since Donald Trump woke up early in the morning and fired off some deranged tweets, in the general direction of Barack Obama.
And according to reports from the warring factions in the Trump White House, for a few hours after that Trump was in a really good mood.
Until he realized that he had gone over the deep end...
In one of my last posts I thanked Barack Obama for being the best U.S. president I have ever known.
And listed some of his remarkable achievements.
But somehow I forgot to mention one of his most outstanding qualities.
His unique ability to drive Donald Trump and his Trumpanzees absolutely wild.
From the moment Barack Obama became president Donald Trump tried to delegitimize and humiliate him.
Claiming he wasn't an American citizen, and had faked his birth certificate, and doing all he could to degrade his country's first black president.
And in thirteen days, on his first day in office, Trump is vowing to repeal every single executive order Obama ever issued, and begin the process of destroying or erasing his legacy.
But as the New York Times' Timothy Egan writes, good luck with that one.
In my last post I predicted that Donald Trump's so-called birther campaign would do him enormous damage.
By finally exposing him as a dirty old crackpot.
But now I'm sure it will destroy him.
He has been trying to soften his image, and portray himself as a reasonable man. A man who loves children and black people, not a deranged demagogue.
And it has boosted his polls.
But sadly for Donald Trump, he can only be reasonable for so long, before the voices in his head start screaming, and he reveals his inner racism.
And now, just as he was doing so well, he may have stuck a fork in his own campaign.
I realize that many progressives don't like Barack Obama, and like to claim he was worse than George Bush or Richard Nixon.
Like some progressives in this country like to claim that Justin Trudeau is worse than Stephen Harper.
But although he was not perfect, I have always admired the first black President. I believe that despite the foul racist attacks against him, he represented his people with dignity and class.
And boy was he funny.
In one of my last posts I wrote about Justin Trudeau's magical visit to Washington, and how happy I was to see him connect so well with Obama.
The first black President of the United States, and a man I greatly admire.
Especially at such a troubling time in that country's history...
Justin Trudeau's visit to the White House yesterday had an almost dreamlike or fairy tale quality to it.
Like a fairy tale it all seemed too perfect to be true.
And it was a bromance.

As Justin Trudeau prepares to leave for Washington, I think it's safe to say that the Globe is probably right, for once.
It almost certainly will be a media circus.
What with so many Americans curious about our cool new prime minister, or madly in love with him.
And no doubt his interview with the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes.
Will guarantee him an even warmer welcome.
Next week Justin Trudeau will set off on a three-day visit to Washington, which will include a glittering state dinner at the White House.
The first for a Canadian Prime Minister in almost twenty years.
And while he will discuss plans with Obama for a continental climate change strategy.
Justin is already making it clear that there is something or someone he WON'T be talking about.
He's back in Canada after his disastrous trip to Mexico and rarely has he looked so diminished.
For while he is desperately trying to spin the trip into a triumph, nothing can conceal the humiliation of this slap in the face.
OMG. Sound the humiliation alert siren. I just KNEW that Stephen Harper's deranged Crusade to try to get Obama to aprove the Keystone Pipeline was going to end badly.
I knew the writing was on the wall when his army of Con lobbyists was laughed out of Washington after trying to fool the Americans into believing that the Big Oil boys in Alberta were model environmentalists.
And that Great Green Leader was the next best thing to Mother Nature...
Well at least we now know what Stephen Harper expects for his strong support of Obama's missile strike on Syria.
He wants Obama to do the right thing and give him his Keystone XL pipeline
Golly.Thank goodness for small mercies. It looks as if it's going to be a peaceful long weekend after all.
Apart from the roar of fighter jets flying low over my house on final approach to the nearby air show. Because there's nothing like being woken up by a CF-18 eh?
But at least the big Syrian Air Show has been temporarily grounded. Obama blinked, and that show has been postponed.
He likes to pose as a patriot. Or go on and on about standing up for our sovereignty, in the True North strong and Conservative !!!!
He has bombarded us with propaganda about the War of 1812, to show us how we beat the Americans eh?
But now that the Americans are threatening to invade us again, it appears that Great Patriotic Leader is preparing to surrender.
Well I never said the end of the Con regime would be pretty eh?
But who knew it would be so humiliating? Such a crude awakening.
It may not go down in history as one of his greatest speeches.
There were no soaring flights of rhetoric, he hardly raised his head as he delivered it.
But I thought Barack Obama's reaction to the Trayvon Martin verdict was one of the finest moments of his Presidency.
