He came bounding into his first news conference as Premier-elect, looking as if he couldn't believe it himself.

He spent the next half hour waffling about some of the many wild promises he made during the campaign, claiming he needed to "look at the books" before he could say how he planned to pay for them.

And we all know what that means.

For there he was straining to remember the lines his Team Harper handlers made him memorize.

While his fake followers jumped up and down outside.

As I'm sure you know, Roy Moore is a disgusting creature, more hog than human, for many reasons. 

He's a dirty old man who had to be banned from a mall so he couldn't harass young teenage girls.

But the worst thing about him is his monstrous homophobia.

She may have been humiliated by Jeremy Corbyn, she may have lost all those Tory seats.

Golly. For a moment today it looked like an old Christopher Lee movie.

When somebody opens the window, daylight streams in, and all the Con vampires turn to stone.

But alas, it was only Stephen Harper having a REALLY bad day.

A day when you really had to wonder whether he's losing control of his party, and/or losing control of his faculties.

She would have been sixteen next week, but she killed herself last October after two years of being bullied and cyber-stalked.

He can try to hide behind big legal words. He can claim he didn't know. But nobody can deny that this is a brutal assault on gay people.

The Harper government is being accused of taking away same-sex rights by “stealth” in light of a surprise government stand that non-resident gay and lesbian couples who flocked to Canada to exchange vows really aren’t legally married after all.

He can claim he isn't reopening the gay marriage debate, when this stealth offensive, like the one on abortion, was carefully crafted by the religious fanatics that run the PMO. And he is reopening the debate, by sticking a knife into the side of gay equality.

For most Canadians, same-sex marriage is a settled issue and part of the landscape. Despite some people’s fears, Stephen Harper’s government hasn’t used its majority to reopen the marriage debate in Parliament. But in two recent cases, government lawyers are taking a position that is inconsistent with gay men’s and lesbians’ hard-fought equality.

And not just here but also in Britain.

The Religious Bullies Go After Gay Kids

Don't you just love crazy religion? They are always attacking each other, claiming that only their god is the real one. Spewing gibberish and hate out of every orifice, or blowing up their rivals.

But nothing can bring them together as quickly as a chance to attack gay kids.

Christian, Jewish and Muslim representatives say they agree school bullies must be stopped, but they can't condone a requirement under the legislation proposed to deal with it that schools promote sexual tolerance through gay clubs.

"To force, especially Christian classrooms or schools, to have homosexual clubs would of course be an affront to their family values," Charles McVety, of the Institute for Canadian Values, told a joint news conference. 

Brad Trost and the Zombie Threat

Holy jumpin' Joan of Saskatchewan !!! I gotta give the Con wingnut Brad Trost some credit eh? Not only does he look FABULOUS in a dress. I hear he's declared a holy redneck jihad against Great Ugly Leader.

“The battle over the IPPF continues. Pro-Life politicians have been taught a lesson. The government only responds to Pro-Life issues and concerns when we take an aggressive stance. We will apply this lesson.”

And not only that he's calling him a left-wing extremist !!!

Speaking to CBC's Evan Solomon, host of Power & Politics, Trost said the government should "take a position that's at least moderate, rather than the extreme left position that we're taking."

Look, I don't know whether bubbah Brad is an uber right-wing extremist, or mentally ill, or an idiot. Or all of the above.

But what I do know is that he is a real threat. And I wouldn't dismiss him as lightly as JJ does.

Because the fact is Stephen Harper and his Cons depend on their rabid zombie base to keep their war room dollars coming. They will depend on them even more when the subsidies to political parties are phased out.

And since Harper can't use the excuse of a minority government to keep them in line anymore, he will have to offer them more than just hope.

He will have to throw them some big juicy bones. And if not abortion, how about defunding the CBC? Like Trost demands on his website.

Because in that regard him and his Con zombies just got a big juicy down payment.

Heritage Minister James Moore wants to slash CBC’s budget by 10 per cent, The Huffington Post has learned.

Although a government decision is far from complete, Moore has discussed his wish to see the public broadcaster’s $1.1-billion allocation cut by ten per cent, sources said. Moore had earlier this summer suggested the CBC could face a cut of "at least 5 per cent."

Just a few weeks ago it was five per cent, then Trost began riling up the base, and now it's TEN. Or one hundred million dollars. Four years of that and the CBC will be lying face down in a pool of blood. Along with many other Canadian institutions that we love, but they hate so much.

Yup. Some Canadians are sleepwalking to disaster with their eyes wide open. But I'm not one of them.

I know the Con zombies are on the march. Looking for blood.

Harper will be forced to feed them, and his own demons.

The nightmare is just beginning ...

And it will be HORRIBLE...

David Kato, the Dead Lovers, and the Burning Puppy

In Uganda, the homophobia the crazy Christianists ignited, claims the life of a gentle gay hero.

“David’s death is a result of the hatred planted in Uganda by U.S. evangelicals in 2009,” Val Kalende, the chairwoman of one of Uganda’s gay rights groups, said in a statement. “The Ugandan government and the so-called U.S. evangelicals must take responsibility for David’s blood.”

And follows him to his grave

The pastor presiding over the funeral of murdered gay rights activist David Kato went on an anti-homosexual rant Friday, adding insult to injury for the circle of activists hoping to honour and bury their friend.

Villagers then refused to bury the coffin, so Kato's friends carried it to the grave and buried him themselves.

In Afghanistan, the brutish Taliban Islamists stone a young couple to death, for the crime of being in love.

The stoning lasts two minutes. Hundreds of rocks - some larger than a man's fist - are thrown at her head and body. She tries to crawl out of the hole, but is beaten back by the stones. A boulder is then thrown at her head, her burka is soaked in blood, and she collapses inside the hole.

Then her lover, Khayyam, is brought to the crowd...The attack on him is even more ferocious. His body, lying face down, jerks as the rocks meet their target. He is heard to be crying, but is soon silent.

And in South Carolina, a woman kills a puppy for eating her Bible.

Miriam Fowler Smith, 65, told cops on Monday that she hung and burned her nephew's pit bull after the animal took a bite out of her bible.

She claimed God urged her to kill Diamond, a 1-year-old female dog, because the animal was a "devil dog" and would hurt neighborhood children

Oh boy. I'm so glad I'm an atheist.

Why Religious Schools Should be Banned

As you know I believe that all schools should be secular. Not just because Adolf Hitler hated them.

But because religious schools are capable of filling young minds with the most grotesque kind of garbage.

According to a BBC Panorama investigation to be screened tonight, the Sharia law classes use textbooks which tell children that the penalty for gay sex is execution, that “Zionists” are plotting to take over the world for the Jews and the correct way to cut off the hands and feet of convicted thieves.

Gay sex is punished by execution, the schools allegedly teach. However, children are told that clerics are said to differ in whether the guilty person should be stoned, thrown off a cliff or burnt.

Other textbooks are said to ask students to list the “reprehensible” qualities of Jews and claim that Jews are transformed into pigs and monkeys.

Great eh? 

Oh yeah. One more thing. When I say that religious schools should be banned.

I mean ALL of them.



Look, I realize that there are many good religious people.

And I believe that adults should be free to choose what opium of the masses they want to swallow.

But as for religious schools, don't let children anywhere near them...

Carl Paladino and the Day of the Living Dead

The scariest thing about Carl Paladino, the Tea Bag crazy, is that he always looks like he just crawled out of a coffin. About two weeks after he died.

And sadly now he's even deader.

The Conservative Republican candidate for governor of New York told Orthodox Jewish leaders that he doesn't want children "brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality" is acceptable.

Of course, it isn't the first time what's left of his brain fell out of his ears and other orifices.

But now he's blaming  Canada !!!!!

He said he and his wife stumbled on a gay parade one time in Toronto.

"It wasn't pretty," Paladino said. "It was a bunch of very extreme type people in bikini-type outfits grinding at each other and doing these gyrations and I certainly wouldn't let my young children see that."

Poor Palpatino. Now he's the one doing those gyrations. 

He should have known that if he hung out with that Orthodox bigot.

Mr. Levin, who is spokesman for the Rabbinical Alliance of America, an association of socially conservative rabbis, shares with Mr. Paladino a proclivity for inflammatory public statements, particularly about homosexuality. He spoke out against a gay pride festival in Jerusalem several years ago, saying it would amount to “the spiritual rape of the Holy City” and proclaimed, “This is not the homo land, this is the Holy Land.”

He'd end up doing the Bamboleo...



The last I heard Paladino was seeking a blessing from the Catholic Church.

Well that should be a cinch eh?

Terry Jones and the Muslims in the Tower

One of the most revealing things I've read about the wingnut  pastor Terry Jones is that he says he got all his information about Islam from YouTube.

So I'm not too optimistic that he's going to cancel his plans to burn a Koran.

But as for the argument that this outbreak of mass hysteria wouldn't have happened if the media hadn't given him so much coverage, I don't buy it.

The media have been criticized for giving Terry Jones and his Koran-burning scheme publicity. But the Web has changed the media landscape. Ignoring the event wasn't an option.

If a single religious “crackpot” anywhere in the depths of America’s backwoods decides to burn a Koran, and even one person is there with a cellphone to upload the image, then it enters the larger flow of content that travels everywhere.

The landscape has changed, the nature of the media is like the nature of a scorpion on that frog's back, they will do anything for ratings. And nobody knows that better than the wingnuts from the Westboro Baptist Church, who have announced they plan to burn a Koran AND an American flag.

In fact here's the crazed homophobe Fred "Big Daddy " Phelps making the announcement tonight.

Because Big Daddy will  be damned if the wingnut from Florida is going to get all that free publicity.   

But there is also another more disturbing reason the Burn the Koran story grew so big. And that's because it grew in the mucky soil of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque story.

The rabid right jumped on it's back like a spider. The media blew this manufactured story up like a balloon. Some good people were swayed by the roar of the howling mob.

The quiet voices of reason were drowned out.

And so was the story of the Muslims in the Tower.

He staggered out to the gathering place at Broadway and Vesey. From that corner, he watched the south tower collapse, to be followed soon by the north one. Somewhere in the smoking, burning mountain of rubble lay whatever remained of the prayer room, and also of some of the Muslims who had used it.

Given the vitriolic opposition now to the proposal to build a Muslim community center two blocks from ground zero, one might say something else has been destroyed: the realization that Muslim people and the Muslim religion were part of the life of the World Trade Center.

The Ground Zero story never made any sense, but it was allowed to grow like a poison mushroom. And now it's poisoning America. And inflaming the Muslim world.

Oh boy. I know there are good religious people. 

But from what I see with my eyes wide open. The United States is a sick country.

And religion has become MADNESS....

The Burn the Koran Show and the Monster Religion

I see the wingnut pastor Terry Jones is weighing his plans to burn a Koran.

Sort of. 

"We have firmly made up our mind, but at the same time, we are definitely praying about it," Jones said.

Huh? Wot? Good thing eh?



Hmmm....you know when I see what a monster religion has become.

And I read this excellent post.

This woman will shortly be stoned to death, not by a mindless lynch mob, but by judicial order. Her "trial," for adultery, was carried out in a language she doesn't even understand, with no interpretation.

And the stones may not be too big--because she might die too quickly.

I'm glad I'm an atheist who believes in a kinder, gentler world...
