Michaëlle Jean, Stephen Harper, and the Great Betrayal

I see that Michaëlle Jean has a new job. Secretary-General of the corrupt dictator's club known as la Francophonie.

And that Stephen Harper, who spent tens of thousands of dollars backing her candidacy, is absolutely delighted.

But sadly I don't share that enthusiasm. Because while Jean may turn out to be the  best Secretary-General the dictator's club will ever have.

When we and Canada needed her the most, she betrayed us miserably.

Harperland: The Horror and the Resistance

If you want to know what Stephen Harper and his monstrous Con regime have done to this country, all you had to do was look around you today to see it in all its horror.

A Parliament shutdown by a Prime Minister to prevent the opposition from asking questions about a sordid scandal involving his own office.

Hundreds of scientists demonstrating outside, and all across the country, to demand that the government stop muzzling them.

Stephen Harper's Con Klown Tour Continues

Uh oh. Talk about bad timing. It looks like Stephen Harper's Great Escape Tour is turning into a real drama.

Or a Con klown show.

First a Buffalo Airways plane makes a spectacular belly landing short of the runway in Yellowknife.

To remind us of the dangers of flying in the north. Then Harper claims that the Arctic Rangers can handle any search and rescue emergency.

Only to end up with a red nose AND a red face.

Stephen Harper's Cowardly Prorogation Move

Well I told you last night he was trying to run for cover.

Trying to run away from all the sordid scandals dragging down his corrupt Con regime.

And today he proved me right eh?

Because he can spin it anyway he likes, but this is just another monstrous act of political cowardice.

King Harper and Mr Amerika

As the opposition prepares to back down on the Afghan detainees issue, James Travers points out that if Stephen Harper had done what he is doing now, when tin pot dictators were KINGS.

He'd be in a lot of trouble.

Too often in politics, principle is the hapless victim of expediency. In the struggle to pry Afghanistan documents from Stephen Harper's grasp, principle never had a chance.

And that whether or not it is politically convenient there can surely be no more important issue.

The Iacobucci appointment carries other, more profound implications for this country's deconstructing democracy. Most significantly, it chips more from the cornerstone principle that the Prime Minister is accountable to Parliament.

Because it defines us as Canadians not Americans.

And of course I'd like to point out that it's working.

Because what that means is that despite all the hype and the photo-ops, the Cons lost ten points because of prorogation, and they can't crawl out from under its shadow.

And Stephen Harper may still have his head but it's pretty sore.

If Nanos is reflecting reality here, it not only gives Stephen Harper reason to avoid an election, but must have strategists head-scratching themselves to figure out a salvage strategy.

It could signal that the Liberal fixation on smearing the Prime Minister’s heavy-handed Parliament-snubbing character is an attack narrative that’s starting to stick, which would be bad news for the government
.

Which makes me think that if the opposition doesn't force the Afghan issue,it should still keep hammering away at the Cons by working into a wider narrative. And asking the following question:

What kind of man would cover up torture, act like a President, and try to turn us into Americans?

Answer: the same man who would wage a religious war on gays and lesbians, and try to score law and order points by beating up on juvenile offenders. Just like an Amerikan would.

Or the same man whose Con flunkies are already hinting at privatizing our medicare system.

"I would hope that any country looking at the Canadian system would make sure that they include in their system an element of competition," he said. "I think that makes a big difference in terms of controlling costs."

Because Stephen Harper spent 15 years trying to kill medicare, just like Republicans are trying to do in the United States.

Yup. I think I see a theme developing...

Stephen Harper likes to pose as Mr Canada. I say we turn him into Mr Amerika.

And hit him where it HURTS...

Chucky Harper and the Singing Beaver

Well I see Great Chucky Leader is back in Ottawa, hoping that Canadians are feeling so good after the Olympics, they'll forget that he shutdown Parliament to avoid questions about torture.

Because that and living in the best country in the world don't go together eh?

And that old medal hooker must think we're IDIOTS.

Having brought along his official photographer, Mr. Harper managed to capture for posterity his reaction to the heartbreaking U.S. equalizer, the moment of victory in overtime and even his trip to the locker room to congratulate the champions.

Because if Vancouver was a great party it had everything to do with the athletes and the people, and NOTHING to do with him.

And how can we be the best country in the world as long as Great Ugly Leader is Prime Minister?

Besides I just don't think it's going to work because Stephen Harper is now damaged goods.

Pollster Frank Graves says he thinks prorogation planted the seed for a bigger problem for Mr. Harper: His personal approval ratings plummeted, and now most voters outside his base of Tory supporters disapprove of his performance.

"It lit the fuse that consolidated a whole series of anxieties and concerns that a certain portion of the electorate were having about Mr. Harper's management style."

So now everything we throw at him will hurt more than it EVER did. Because now even MORE people don't trust him.

Question his motives, ask him about the theocons in the PMO, ask him whether he's turned on more by torture or Jesus. Ask him why he wants an election before the auditor general reports on his corrupt Porky Patronage Plan. Demand a public inquiry into the brutish Con assault on Rights and Democracy.

And the Chucky will look like a monster...or a DUMMY.

And oh yeah...Stephen Harper posing as a patriot? Don't make me laugh.

Just give me the strength to help defeat him. Because prorogation still matters. Real Canadians care about democracy.

And of course, because I want my country to be the best country in the world eh?

And so does the singing beaver...

Stephen Harper and the Golden Moment

There have been many magnificent moments during the Vancouver Olympics, but I think it's safe to say this isn't one of them.

The pathetic sight of Stephen Harper desperately trolling for a golden moment, like an old hooker on the last day of a Baptist convention. Pretending he's a hockey fan, rubbing up against Wayne Gretzky like a cat in heat. Hoping he can ride a wave of patriotic sentiment all the way to a majority.

I mean seriously eh? Look at those eyes. Does that look like a hockey fan....or the kind of man you're parents warned you about ? Is he thinking about owning the podium or is he thinking about owning us?

The good news is I don't think it's going to work.

Because if all they got was two points from their Haiti photo-op and the Olympics, nothing is going to save them once the cheering stops.

He won't be able to buy votes like he once did. He won't be able to run away from allegations that he covered up torture.

And since the Cons shutdown Parliament we know so much more about the secret war these rabid ideologues have been waging against decent Canadian institutions like KAIROS and Rights and Democracy.

Now we know all about the brutish bullies in the PMO. And so do Canadians.

Stephen Harper says the Senate needs reform, but more Canadians think that it's the Prime Minister's Office that has too much power.

"It's not just the usual suspects," said pollster Nik Nanos. "There are more Canadians that think the office of the prime minister is one of the parts of our democracy that requires a second look."

And the moment we shine a light into that monstrous darkness, the Cons will run like roaches, and the game will be OVER.

Oh boy. Once I thought we were losing our beautiful country.

But now I've changed my mind...

Stephen Harper's Desperate Search for Love

OMG. I knew Great Strategic Genius ,Humanitarian Ugly Leader was crazy wild. I knew he has been spending a lot of time in the Con War Room, sweating over polls and trying to figure out how to make Canadians love him again.

Awwwwww.

But this is ridiculous.

MPs will be staying in Ottawa for March Break, part of a plan by the governing Conservatives to pack extra time into the parliamentary calendar.

Can you imagine admitting he was WRONG.... and then punishing others for something HE did? Golly. Will that make him look like Mr Nice Guy? Or Great Mother Leader...the new/nouveau friend of women and children? Or a sinister political thug with a disturbing vindictive streak?

Not that it's his fault eh?

But this is unforgivable.

The B.C. legislature is slightly agog over next week's pending visit by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Apparently, he intends to address the chamber Thursday...Apparently, the visit was not by invitation from the provincial government. Rather it was Ottawa's idea.

Oh.My.Mussolini. Can you believe the nerve of that tin pot dictator? Inviting HIMSELF to address a provincial Parliament..... while keeping the one in Ottawa chained, dark, and silent ? Even Baby Doc Duvalier didn't do that.

And speaking of Voodoo stuff... only the Monkey God knows what Harper might say ....like.... Welcome to MY games. I light the torch...you get my Porky Action Plan. Or ELSE...

Because in his present mental state Great Ugly is capable of saying or doing ANYTHING to try to fool idiot Canadians into thinking he's just an average guy. A man of the people.

I mean Holy Shit !!!!

Stephen Harper says he’d rather be playing hockey in the NHL than playing politics in the House of Commons.

Huh? Wot? That wonky nerd would rather be a professional hockey player than Prime Minister? And settle for cheap adulation and hookers...instead of the raw naked POWER he craves to change Canada beyond recognition?

Stephen Harper? A normal guy? Muahahahaha. Any Canadian who believes that one should stop drinking immediately, or get a brain transplant.

Hally Boobah. EXCELLENT. I do believe we have the monster where we want him. Trapped, desperate, and slowly going crazy. But still thinking he's a political genius who can fool ANYONE.

Good work people. And how do you like that onion ?

The one that's already almost TWICE as popular as he is. Mmmmmm.... TASTY. And how appropriate eh?

He set out to be King Stephen. But ended up as our Lord of the Onion Ring.

Which does come with a throne.

Just not the one he wanted...

Remember how those nasty bully Cons used ridicule to destroy Dion?

Well holy onion ring.

Now it's OUR turn....

Stephen Harper and the Prorogation Protest

Oh dear. It looks as if Stephen Harper has disappeared from public view. Which is what he always does when he goes off the deep end and pulls some kind of boo boo.

Like this one.

Oh Mein Gotterdammerung. Fifteen points in two months. Ouch. That must REALLY hurt.

Which explains why he's probably sulking in the Con war room, plotting all kinds of desperate moves, biting the carpet, and counting on his Nuremberg moment.

No doubt hoping that Canadians will love him again if he waddles the Olympic torch around the stadium. Or claims he is writing a book about Olympic movement. Even longer than the one on hockey.

Good luck.

But of course I'm sure he's not the only one hoping that Canadians will forgive them for what they did ....or wrote.

Grassroots fury? Thousands of people in the streets, switchboard’s browning out with indignant calls and a tsunami of e-mails might be considered a grassroots fury. Facebook groups, on the other hand, amount to a kind of ephemeral eruption that usually passes like a hot flash or the urge to vote for the Green party.

But where Harper has a hard time taking the national pulse, he enjoys an uncanny skill at divining what the people don’t care about. Harper knows ordinary Canadians don’t care about the intricacies of Parliamentary procedure.

Some political judgement....some ephemeral eruption. More than 222-thousand and COUNTING.

Oh boy. More wrong and idiot than that and they have to water you eh?

Besides that kind of tired old cynicism in a country as young as Canada makes me want to VOMIT. Because the day a country stops caring about democracy....or dreaming of something better... it shrivels up and dies.

Oh well....the important thing is that we really showed them. Thousands and thousands of decent Canadians all over the country FINALLY stood up to those foul Cons.

And since I FINALLY got some time to put a proper video together of the rally I attended. Whew.

I do declare it was AWESOME...

Eat your cynical hearts out you miserable Cons.

The Canadian people have said enough is ENOUGH.

The struggle continues.

And your days are NUMBERED...

Rallying for Democracy in Toronto (Video)

Golly. I sure hope Stephen Harper decided to play the piano last night rather than watch TV. So he couldn't see all those Canadians telling him exactly what they thought of him.

Because I saw Great Strategic Genius Desperate Leader on TV yesterday morning, and he looked awful. Poor tin pot despot. I blame it on those fifteen points he lost in fifteen days. That's enough to make ANYONE look like a drunk or a junkie eh?

So I can only imagine what he'll look like if he sees those pictures or reads this.

In ten years working on Parliament Hill, I’ve had a front-row seat to all kinds of mass gatherings and rarely do you see one this co-ordinated, this large and this unified. It takes a lot to make Canadians take to the streets in numbers worth noting.

Never before has Facebook filled Canada’s streets. It did today. Friends and families reached out to one another to voice their collective disgust at a system that allows the Prime Minister to silence the voice of debate in the House of Commons on a whim.

Not too pretty I imagine.

And with good reason. Because it's not just the number of Canadians who turned out in the middle of winter that was so amazing. It was the extraordinary mix of young and old, and above all the PASSION.

Even in Toronto. I know because I was there.

And the energy was INCREDIBLE...

Gawd it was fun. To march down the street with a Raging Grannie, singing my absolutely favourite song.

Hey Hey, Ho Ho, Stephen Harper has GOT to go !!!

In fact too much fun. I was planning to make a fancy music video eh? But then I made the mistake of mixing revolution and pleasure. So all I could do was splice some clips together. *hic*

Still isn't the sound of raw democracy WONDERFUL? And out of this great start will come even greater things.

Congratulations everybody. You were all magnificent.

Today we march. Tomorrow we organize. Then we vote.

And then we take our country BACK...

Stephen Harper and My Lost Country (Video)

Can you believe the timing? Tomorrow's rallies for democracy will take place on the fourth anniversary of the day Stephen Harper and his Cons came to power.

He promised to change Canada beyond recognition. And boy did he ever.

"Here's the verdict: We're less prosperous, less respected, less fair and we're less democratic. That's Stephen Harper's record."

Once we were peacekeepers and humanitarians. Now we're torture freaks and planet burners.

Now this sinister political thug is getting to use his reckless deficit as an excuse, to stab and slash away at government services and Canadian institutions, until the knife scrapes the bone.

Mr. Harper said yesterday Ottawa doesn't plan significant cuts to transfers, although he seemed to leave the door open to smaller trims. “We are not looking at the kind of deep cuts in program transfers we saw by the previous [Liberal] government.”

Last week he was promising NOT to cut transfer payments. Now he says he will.

Bye bye lower tuition fees, bye bye medicare. The young have no future, just a lifetime of low paying jobs. The old will die in hospitals being served watery soup and toast for supper, and using catheters ripped out of corpses.

But then we've changed too.

Four years of HarperCon rule have made us a nastier, meaner, greedier society. And much much more AMERIKAN.

So while I always try to inspire hope in others, I have to admit that I've been slowly losing it myself.

Which is why for me tomorrow's rallies are so important.

A last chance to show that democracy counts. A last chance to keep hope alive. A last chance to show that the Canada we love isn't dead yet.

Which is why I made slightly different version of a video I first ran last night...

As long as there is resistance there is hope.

Tomorrow let's make our voices heard. We want Canada to be Canada eh?

Down with the AmeriCons and their crazy leader.

Our country. Our FUTURE...

The Cons and the Big Democracy Party

Uh Oh. Gotterdammerung alert. I understand the sinister operatives in the Con war room are starting to get desperate.

The polls are...um... discouraging disastrous.

Prorogation is on the radar of Canadians after all. And after even all those crass photo-ops there's no sign of a Haiti Bump.

“Clearly, the diversion of attention to a pretty well flawless performance on the Haiti crisis to date has not taken the Conservatives out of the penalty box with voters yet,” he told The Globe. “This underscores the depth of public disenchantment.”

Although I see the SoCon sow Jason Kenney is doing his best to suckle it.

By bringing in a planeful of orphans ...not yesterday as their parents in Canada have been demanding...but this weekend, no doubt hoping to steal away the headlines from the prorogation protest.

While denying entry to the families of Haitian Canadians, so these foul Cons can win the racist vote by keeping all those black people out. While posing as HUMANITARIANS.

Oh boy. Are these Reform Harperites UGLY or what?

But then that's why we fight them eh?

Which reminds me... I heard that the founder of the Facebook group is asking people not to attack Stephen Harper, and concentrate on reforming Parliament.

Now I understand why he's saying that. He wants to build a non-partisan coalition of progressives and decent Conservatives. And good for him, that's a noble goal.

But of course I can't go along with that...unless my lips were sealed with krazy glue. Or my tongue was cut out.

However, I do promise not to be too rowdy, or beat my drum too loudly, and to tell my friends that if they plan on making any signs to make sure they're not too rude... and spelt rite.

Because we don't want to look too young and ignorant eh? Wot?

But seriously here's the thing. I do support this awesome Facebook movement all the way. I think it's BRILLIANT. I do want to see our Parliament get back to work. And reformed so it's a better place, and a more dignified House of Democracy.

But right now. More than ANYTHING.

I want my country back....

Oh well. You know it doesn't really matter why people attend this Saturday's rallies.

On that day we'll all just be ordinary Canadians standing up for a better Canada.

The important thing is to bring your friends, and your signs, your idealism, and your enthusiasm. Just BE THERE.

Because although it's a serious issue. It's also a Democracy Party.

And we're going to have FUN !!!!

The Con Shuffle and our Beautiful Kate

I suppose I could write about Stephen Harper's ridiculous little cabinet shuffle.

But what more is there to say? Except that a bunch of stinky Cons moved their ugly asses from one chair to another. To try to show that they can shutdown our Parliament ....and still look busy.

I suppose I could talk about the brutish SoCon sheriff Vic Toews who is our new Minister of Public Insecurity. His appalling record on matters of justice. And how him and his Cons are demeaning our Canadian values.

Toews' statement in the Jerusalem Post that Canada has "pledged $20M towards training prosecutors, judges and police and building up the Palestinian judicial sector'' is in keeping with what Canada has been doing elsewhere, notably in Haiti. There, Canada has been building prisons and training police forces as opposed to the usual forms of humanitarian aid.

By building prisons instead of feeding people.

But all I can think about is DADDY !!!!!

I could also say something about his fellow theocon Stockwell "Doris" Day.

But I think this cartoon says it all...

Praise the Lord and pass the chain saw.

Because now these theocons are running the government.

I could tell you about the useless Christian Paradis, the new Minister of Dirty Oil. And what's going to happen to him in Quebec...and Ontario... when people finally realize how the Tar Sands are KILLING CANADA.

A recent study by a University of Ottawa professor and others estimates that 42 per cent of the job loss in Canadian manufacturing over the last few years resulting from the rise in the dollar can be attributed to our rise in oil exports, and identifies the computer and electronics, textile, transportation, machinery, paper and plastics sectors as those most affected. Ontario and Quebec are home to the majority of these industries.

If the Big Oil posse or the Wild Rosehip rednecks don't get him first.

Then there's Rona Ambrose who is no doubt hoping that Canadians have forgotten how she performed the last time she was a big-time minister.

But fortunately I haven't...

I've been saving that one for years.

And lastly and definitely LEASTLY, I could say a few words about today's big loser Lisa Raitt.

But why bother? When mediocrity is her own worst punishment.

And I'd rather talk about a shining, gentle talent who made me proud to be a Canadian, and a Montrealer.

The beautiful Kate McGarrigle who left us too soon.

Today they were singing her praises in English and French. In a country as divided as ours what more can you ask for eh?

This song is about a sad time in American history. But it might as well be about living in Stephen Harper's Canada.

Tis the song, the sigh of the weary,
Hard Times, hard times, come again no more
Many days you have lingered around my cabin door;
Oh hard times come again no more.

I'll remember that on Saturday when I attend this protest.

Remember Kate and how much better we are, when we celebrate our kinder, gentler Canadian values...instead of Stephen Harper's AmeriCon ones.

When we remember that Con times are hard times. And why they must go and never come again no more.

Down with the dictator.

And because too much passion won't kill us eh?

But not enough will.

Long live our beautiful Canada !!!

Haiti and the Prorogation Protest

I was really happy and proud to see Canadian soldiers and doctors helping people in Haiti today.

It's so great to see our troops acting as peacekeepers and humanitarians again. Instead of killing and getting killed in a place like Afghanistan.

But I can't understand why Stephen Harper is getting so much credit for doing what any Canadian Prime Minister would have done.

And I have to admit this story makes me shudder.

In the space of a few days, Parliament Hill has morphed from being a symbol of Prime Minister Stephen Harper's high-handed contempt for democracy into an emblem of his compassion and concern for the people of Haiti.

"To show solidarity with the people of Haiti, in a small yet special way, starting tonight the Parliament buildings will be illuminated in Haitian colours."

These would be the same Parliament buildings that Harper summarily shut down on Dec. 30, decreeing that they would not reopen for business until March 3. The same buildings that were featured in Liberal attack ads earlier in the week - surrounded by a chain link fence plastered with a sign proclaiming the Hill "closed out of self-interest" by Harper.

Because it suggests that we can't help the poor people of Haiti, and help keep our democracy alive at the same time.

And that we should just shut up, and accept that this protest has been buried.

Which is absolute nonsense. Because our democracy belongs to the Canadian people. And to surrender our right to protest is to agree with Stephen Harper that our Parliament is worthless.

Not just broken by Harper and his thugs.

Especially since Great Ugly Leader is trying to turn this humanitarian mission into a public relations exercise to make Canadians forget about his assault on Parliament, and boost his sagging popularity.

Like he did at this news conference on Haiti the other day.

He had six ministers with him. But every time one of those ministers was asked a question Harper answered it FIRST. And then the minister repeated what he said.

Does that sound like leadership or SELF PROMOTION?

Yup. Our sinister would be dictator hasn't changed his stripes. He's mugged our Parliament, dressed it up like a Christmas tree, and is using a human tragedy to shield him from questions about torture, while he drives off in the getaway car.

All the way to Haiti. Because you just KNOW he'll be there soon. Posing with the troops and telling them I just can't believe the opposition would accuse YOU of torturing people.

Oh boy. I'm sure the boys in the Con war room are already planning that one.

Once it was was Operation Recalibrate.

Now it's Operation Rehabilitate...

But I'm also sure these war room operatives are spooked by this protest.

And so they should be. For what these Cons have done to our beautiful Canada is simply unforgivable.

Next Saturday join the rallies for democracy. Get organized. Follow his example.

Send a message to those crass political thugs: Canadians are not sheep. We want our country back.

And on January 23, wherever you are in Canada eh?

Just be there...

The Haiti Horror and the Crass Cons

When you look at this before and after satellite shot, you know the street-level view is going to be almost unbearable.

At the Ecole Normale Delmas emergency teams extracted the bodies of teenage schoolgirls in orange uniforms. Their faces were smashed.

Laura Bickle, an orphanage worker, said the parks were filled with people with no homes or shelter to go to. "They are pulling people out of the rubble, literally, blood running in the gutter like water."

An absolute horror. And to make matters worse the port is so damaged, and the airport so small, it's making it hard for aid to reach the poor people who need it so desperately.

This screenshot I took off Flightaware.com this evening just about says it all.

An executive jet from Fort Lauderdale approaches Port-au-Prince airport (MTPP) but is forced to turn back.

Still I was happy and proud to see that Canadian aid is on its way. But did those Harper Cons really have to turn it into a cheap photo-op?

Today Defence Minister Peter Mackay is posing in Halifax as the HMCS Athabaskan and HMCS Halifax leave for Haiti.

At about the same time, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife, Laureen, were staging a photo op making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross.

Enough already. Stop posing for photo ops and just get on with the business of helping Haiti.

Golly. I knew those Cons were desperate.

And I mean DESPERATE.

But who knew they were so crass they could turn a tragedy into an ad for themselves?

Especially since instead of patting themselves on the back, they should be apologizing for yet another broken promise.

The devastation in Haiti has propelled Canada's military disaster response team back into the national spotlight, but also raises questions about a longstanding Conservative promise to expand the emergency force.

DART's complement of about 200 people has only grown by eight since 2006, despite the expansion promise.

Shame on them.

Oh well. At least we know what we have to do. First we do all we humanly can to help the poor suffering Haitian people.

Because their needs are so desperate. And we have to help them rebuild their shattered country.

Then we help ourselves...by building on this.

Then we get rid of the crass dictator and his Con stooges.

And rebuild our beautiful Canada...

Stephen Harper: Dictator or Con Klown?

I can't say I disagree with Michael Ignatieff's decision to mock Stephen Harper's dictatorial tendencies.

"That was the biggest laugh I had yesterday — the whole idea that democracy creates instability," the Liberal leader said in Montreal.

Because I've been known to do that myself. And I've always believed that ridicule is a great weapon to use against neo-Con nerds with delusions of grandeur. They just HATE it.

But let's never forget that we're dealing with a twisted, angry, would-be despot who just a few months ago was flirting with a MAJORITY. After most of our pathetic MSM swooned over his phony piano act. Play it again mein despot.

That's the really scary part eh?

Because can you imagine what this crazed alien Con could do to Canada and its values if he ever had absolute power ? If democracy was no longer an obstacle to his wild fantasies of total domination. And NOBODY could stop him.

When although he only has a minority now, he shows no respect for the Parliament of the Canadian people, and treats the media with this kind of contempt.

THIRTEEN miserable seconds and NO AUDIO? Gawd. He must think they're idiots.

And maybe they are. Because Harper sure fooled most of them for a long long time. And they sure polished his ass... with their NOSES.

Although to be fair they weren't the only ones.

But of course this tin pot despot never fooled me. So when I see that ridiculous video.

I see this...

Or this less staged version...

I just can't help myself. I believe in a better Canada.

And as for Harperion's phony piano act...I think it's safe to say.

I wasn't fooled either...

Yup. Stephen Harper is a Con KLOWN...a ridiculous bitter nerd with delusions of grandeur.

But he is also a monstrous authoritarian, who'll do or say ANYTHING to get his precious majority.

So while we laugh at him.

Let's remember that he's DANGEROUS...

Me and The Great Canadian Rebellion

Well there is nothing like riding this rust bucket to work in the middle of winter, to remind you that you're living in Canada.

Because if it sinks you can always jump on to the ice and crawl on your belly like a seal.

Which would be great eh?

But unfortunately there's also this.

NDP insiders said that while they agree with the Liberals that Prime Minister Stephen Harper's decision to prorogue was a major mistake, they are leery about the Liberal strategy. They said they're not sure the hearings will accomplish much, and believe the protest could easily appear hyper-partisan and poorly organized.

To remind me that I live in a big beautiful country full of people with small ideas.

Jack. Jack. I LOVE you. But why aren't you running for Mayor of Toronto? And I can hardly wait to hear what Olivia...my M.P....has to say about this. After she hears from me...if the phone doesn't MELT.

I'm not going to dump on the NDP, just like I don't attack the Liberals, because I want them to work TOGETHER. But as the only member...in good standing... of the Anyone But Harper Party I have to admit I'm disappointed.

Oh well, at least there was this.

A bunch of decent professors to cheer me up and the Con idiot Tony Clement to make me laugh.

"I know it's a big issue with the Ottawa media elite and some of the elites in our country, but I got to tell you if reaction in my constituency is any indication, I've had maybe three dozen emails."

"It may not be what the chattering classes want, but we're not here to govern on behalf of the chattering classes."

Tony.Tony. Ride my pony baloney. Can't you even count?

Almost 160,000 as of this evening.... and growing by the hour.

And of COURSE you're not there to govern on behalf of the chattering classes. You Con budgie. You're there to govern on behalf of Big Oil, Big Business, and your screeching religious base.

Which reminds me.... I really like the way the Liberals are using the word HIDE in their new ads.

Because after accusing the Cons of taking a paid vacation, accusing them of hiding something is the BEST way to attack them. The best way to make even the most disengaged Canadians wonder what dirty secrets The Great Dictator is trying to conceal.

I mean even the dumb are curious eh?

Which is why I made this video today...

To try to motivate more people to join this Great Canadian Rebellion.

Because no matter what they say, the Cons are running SCARED.

We're just getting started.

And they ain't seen nothing yet...

The Harper Rebellion and the Brighter Tomorrow

Winter in Canada can be such a long and dark road, but although it's only early January and it's bitterly cold out there, I feel like it's almost Spring.

Because now I know that the Con nightmare will soon be over. Canadians are waking up and the tyrant's days are numbered.

In fact, the other night I went to write yet another post attacking Stephen Harper, only to find when I read the progressive blogs, that hundreds of people had already written what I wanted to say.

Wow. So much idealism, so much energy. So many great posts, graphics and videos. And now this handy website.

Congratulations brothers and sisters. You are AWESOME. I have never been so proud and excited to be a progressive.

Of course, I was a little shocked at not being able to come up with another post about Harpie. After spending the last three years doing everything I could think of...from tacky photoshops to crummy videos...to try to warn people about this alien Con's twisted nature... and his despotic tendencies.

But then I thought about it eh? And I realized that's a GOOD thing. Because I'm really lazy at this time of the year.

And now I can put my feet up, for a while, and just enjoy the show...

Oh sure, there are some Canadians like the decent but boring old Owl Ottawensis Jeffrey Simpson, who would drown us in cynicism and despair.

Will this prorogation decision be the proverbial “tipping point” that alerts Canadians to what they did not know, or had not seen clearly, before? His critics believe or hope so. Experience suggests otherwise, including the observable historical fact that it takes much more than one prime ministerial overstretch like this to wound a leader.

Gawd. We need Canadians like that at this dark time of the year, like we need a hole in the head. Or a hole in the ice when we're skating.

And besides I'll settle for Andrew Coyne admitting that he just might be...er...wrong.

Because that's a first eh?

But the absolute BEST thing for me was hearing Harper's biographer William Johnson... the man who once said Great Ugly Leader would be the best Prime Minister since Pierre Trudeau...admit that he had underestimated his...wait for it... "vindictiveness."

Golly. I practically fell off the couch convulsing with joy and shouting: What's a matter with you Billy? You dummy. Didn't you do your research?

Of course, the protests and the rallies are just the beginning. Stephen Harper remains a deadly threat to the country we love. And we are going to have to work even harder, and be even smarter, if we are going to get rid of him and his ugly Cons.

But now I know we can do it. My beautiful Canada LIVES !!!

The winter may be cold and dark. It has been a long hard road.

But tomorrow will be brighter...
