Donald Trump and the End of the (American) World As We Know It.

A few months ago the big German magazine Der Spiegel ran this cover of Donald Trump.

With the title "The End of the World, As We Know it."

And yesterday when the flaming orange proclaimed that the U.S. is pulling out of the Paris Accord, it was shared on social media all over the planet.

But while it is a good cover, I think I like this other cover better...

Because it is America first, and the rest of the world last.

What Trump is doing can only be described as the latest and most insane act of a depraved demagogue. And it does threaten the future of humanity.

People say, if all you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail. We should be so lucky. President Trump has a hammer, but all he’ll use it for is to smash things that others have built, as the world looks on in wonder and in fear.

But his destructive rampage should more properly be called It's The End of the (American) World As We Know It.

Because it's such a crazy move, and he's THAT dumb...

It’s a stupid and reckless decision — our nation’s dumbest act since launching the war in Iraq. But it’s not stupid and reckless in the normal way. Instead, it amounts to a thorough repudiation of two of the civilizing forces on our planet: diplomacy and science. It undercuts our civilization’s chances of surviving global warming, but it also undercuts our civilization itself, since that civilization rests in large measure on those two forces.

For while he is a monstrous moron, Trump will NOT melt the world.

Will Donald Trump’s decision to pull the US out of the Paris climate change agreement tip the world into fiery catastrophe? The extraordinary unity of the rest of the world’s nations in tackling global warming, allied with the booming green economy, driven by plummeting renewable energy costs, are strong reasons to think not.

He'll only shoot himself in the foot, and cripple his own country.

A much more likely casualty of Trump’s choice is the US economy he claims to be protecting: America’s brilliance at innovation, investment and building businesses will no longer have its government’s support. The prize of leadership in the 21st-century economy could be sacrificed in a doomed attempt to revive the fossil-fuelled economy of the 20th century.

By knocking it out of the race to a greener future.

Thus making himself look like even more of an idiot, or a maniac...

If that's possible.

And the best news?

Now that Trump has declared war on the whole world, the whole world can declare war on him.

President Trump has made a colossal mistake in deciding to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement.

But damaging as it is, this decision is not the beginning of the end for efforts to contain climate change. The world decided in Paris to confront the climate threat, and it is not turning back.

There will be no turning back, and no new deal...

The Paris agreement — for anyone who actually understands it — is entirely fair to the United States. The idea that 194 other countries will listen to Trump’s insulting Rose Garden blather and say, “Sure, let’s sit down and negotiate a new deal” is ridiculous.

Instead, Trump’s decision will be seen as an ugly betrayal — self-centered, callous, hollow, cruel.

And best of all, nothing will motivate the new generation to defeat him, more than Trump's crass attempt to try to steal their future.

And the future of their children.

He wouldn't even listen to the desperate pleas of his own daughter Ivanka. Now he'll hear from us ALL...

We couldn't ask for a nobler or more inspiring cause.

Than defeating a monster who would torch the only home we have.

I give thanks that the day when progressives must unite or die is here at last,

So as the original song says, It's The End of the World, As We Know It.

And I Feel Fine....

Fight like you have never fought before. Fight for the future.

Defeat this diseased monster.

Before he destroys the world...

I hope this puts an end once and for all to the utter nonsense that Javanka is a "moderating force" on Trump. We have no idea what Ivanka said to her dad about global warming, but we know she's looking forward to a hotter planet since she's been busy tweeting out her recipe for champagne popsicles. As for Jared, he advised Trump to hire Flynn and fire Comey. 'Nuf said.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un announces refusal to negotiate new climate treaty with deranged and vicious cretin Donald Trump.

All the pussyhats and hashtags in the world wouldn't make a difference. And where are all those celebrities who said they were moving here if Trump won the election? Where is this impeachment you've been talking about since day 1?

It's going to be a long 8 years. You had your day in the sun with Obama.

When Kim Jong-Un seems the reasonable and sane one the situation is definitely a bit strange.

Of course having the President of France offer asylum to US scientists would have seemed a bit unusual a year or two ago.

Trump has now joined the ranks of Syria and Nicaragua by rejecting the Paris Agreement. The U.S.A. is now a tyrannically driven, third world Banana Republic. Fire up the coal ovens!!!!
The great thing is that the Earth will far outlive the Trump regime and his GOP enablers and they will pay dearly for this.
Simon, I'd like to hear what our own climate change denying Con party has to say about this. Wouldn't you like to know what their newly minted leader Howdy Doody has to say about this?

Doubt it.

Well, I have read that Nicaragua did not join because they thought the Paris Accord was not strict enough, not that they disagreed with the principles. And quite honestly, Syria is in the midst of a horrible civil war with about half of its population in flight. perhaps a quarter as refugees and the other half seeking refuge within the country.

Syria may have missed the mail from Paris.

The U.S.A. is now a tyrannically driven, third world Banana Republic.

So what's new?

The great thing is that the Earth will far outlive the Trump regime

Of course it will. The issue is will the human race or most of the rest of the species on Earth at the moment.

Wouldn't you like to know what their newly minted leader Howdy Doody has to say about this?

Last I heard he was promising to rescind the carbon tax so I guess that is a good indicator,

Actually DeSmogBlog has an interesting summary on him. It makes Steven Harper almost likeable. https://www.desmog.ca/2017/05/30/what-you-need-know-about-new-conservative-leader-andrew-scheer

True but it may help. Becoming the pariah head of state, leading even Kim Jong-Il in the competition may even penetrate the skulls of Americans.

The problem is that, under the US constitution IIRC, the alternatives are as bad or worse.

Pence or Ryan? Which could be worse?

Here's another could-be worse. Should Pence be exposed before Trump fully disintegrates, and provided that Bob has no practicable objection, Chuck Koch might try to find out if Niedermeyer is ready yet. Having followed the money trail story prior to the Presidential election in '72, I had no inkling that Ted would fall before Nixon.

hi anon...I'm not as harsh as you when it comes to Ivanka. She did put a lot of effort into getting business leaders to phone her father and ask him to change his mind. So she should be given credit for that. But you're right, it seems her influence on the ghastly Trump has been overestimated....

Simon said...

hi anon...OMG, every time Trump and Kim Jong-Un make it into the same story my hair stands on end like a porcupine. But it does show at least how crazed Trump is when even North Korea has signed the Paris agreement, and the U.S. hasn't. It's absolute insanity...

hi MC...you disappoint me. I know you're a Con, but would you really put your loyalty to that grotesque pussy grabber before the survival of our planet? The one you and I and all of us share. Our only home. You are now a true fanatic, and one day you will bitterly regret it. But since you ask, Trump's impeachment is edging closer and closer, and he's only been in power for only FOUR months!!! And forget about Trump having eight years. He'll be lucky if he makes it to the next election. And that election will bury the Republican Party for at least a generation...

hi jrkrideau...I know, the world does seem to be going mad. It's like we are the toys of giants who are tiring of playing with us, and have speeded up the game for their amusement. I've been reading a fair amount of material on what the internet is doing to our brains, and from what I've read so far, we could be crippling ourselves at a time when we need to be smarter than ever....

Simon said...

hi JD....At least Syria and Nicaragua have an excuse for not signing the Paris agreement. Syria as we know is in a brutal civil war, and Nicaragua doesn't think the accord goes far enough, and has been doing some great things on its own. While the U.S. has no excuse whatsoever, and Trump will hopefully be put on trial one day for threatening the survival of humanity. However, I should also say that I am encouraged by the way other countries have been reacting. We needed a shock to make us start thinking more like citizens of Planet Earth, and I think good things can come of that. As for Howdy Doody, he is just another Con Trumpling, and like the other Cons he will pay for it....

Simon said...

hi Steve...I also think it will. The Russian hacking scandal is not something that can move most people. But climate change, especially if we are hit by more signs that the planet is angry, does have the potential to turn people against Trump. There is no greater crime than threatening the survival of humanity. It's hard wired into us, and Trump is really playing with fire...

Simon said...

his jrkrideau...I'll say this, Pence or Ryan would not be great. Both are psycho Cons and in the case of Pence a hideous religious fanatic. And to make matters worse they could give the Republicans at least a chance to win the next election. While Trump will lead his Republicans to catastrophe, but could kill us before that happens. Decisions, decisions... ;)

Pence only seems competent in comparison to to dump. In the senate his nickname was Mike Dense. If the dems can properly get their vote out, we need not worry about which dinosaur is leading the GOP.

Simon, hi. My working theory, as of today...the orange one will be running his daughter/wife in 2020. From the pen. She will have her 'moment', then, re-sign all the accords. And
wahlah- it's a 'winner'.
Alas, her hubby, is/was the lone liaison of the whole- fakenewsbombing- and with almost surgical precision, to coal country, Mi., Penn., and a few others. To STEAL the 2016 presidential..Just one of the many dark ways they ratf*cked their way unto the jaded palace, on the Potomac.
(I think they perhaps, overplayed their hands, when they
let vlad's boys dictate to the gop, what would/wouldn't
be in the platform.)

I mean- bloodmoneymanaforte,cookedoutstone................

Good Grief.

champagne popsicles? whah?for real??
