The U.S. Election: Between the Light and the Darkness

As I wrote in my last post, the Day of Judgement has finally arrived. The day when our neighbours decide what kind of country they want to live in.

The United States of America, or Trumpland.

And we must worry whether the flickering light of Hillary Clinton will prevail over the monstrous darkness of Donald Trump.

And what might happen to us, and the world, if she doesn't.

For while most polls still favour Clinton.

It's really too close to call. And although Trump is claiming the election has been rigged. As Paul Krugman writes, it's been rigged to favour the Republicans.

It’s almost over. Will we heave a sigh of relief, or shriek in horror? Nobody knows for sure, although early indications clearly lean Clinton. Whatever happens, however, let’s be clear: this was, in fact, a rigged election.

Rigged by voter suppression Rigged by James Comey's out of control FBI. Rigged by the lies of the partisan media. Rigged by the MSM that rather than focus on the real issues, preferred to cover the campaign as a reality TV show.

Take the nightly network news broadcasts: In 2016 all three combined devoted a total of 32 minutes to coverage of issues — all issues. Climate change, the most important issue we face, received no coverage at all.

And if you thought that was scary, then there's Trump's last campaign ad...

Which had his many neo-nazi supporters jumping up and down or sieg heiling with joy.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s closing campaign ad did not disappoint his anti-Semitic fans in the white nationalist movement. They called the two-minute ad, which has been criticized by the Anti-Defamation League, “absolutely fantastic” because it shows that Jewish people are “eating away at the flesh of this once-great nation.”

For that's who they are, and there is no doubt now where Trump might lead them..

And the good news?

Hillary Clinton is still standing despite the many low blows against her.

Mrs. Clinton has actually run a remarkable campaign, demonstrating her tenacity in the face of unfair treatment and remaining cool under pressure that would have broken most of us.

She's on the verge on making history as the first female president...

Her Democrats have a better ground game than the Republicans, which in a close election can make all the difference.

And let's face it, they are better people than their opponents. For while Trump ended his campaign rallying with the ghastly Ted Nugent.

Donald Trump is planning to spend the penultimate night of his campaign rallying with Ted Nugent, a musician and NRA board member who has a long record of violent rhetoric, misogyny and anti-Semitism.

Last night in Philadelphia, at the birthplace of American democracy, Clinton wrapped up her campaign with a massive rally....

In the company of the Boss...

Which I take as a good omen.

It has been a nightmare campaign, and tonight will be one of the scariest nights of our lives.

But if decency and sanity prevail.

Tomorrow we will party....

There's a certain justice in Trump being serenaded by Ted "Poopy Pants" Nugent, because I suspect Trump's going to be soiling his own silk briefs when the poll results come rolling in.

You know, I agree with much of what Trump says in that first ad. Scary as I do consider him a mad candidate and prefer the relatively sane
Clinton.

No matter who wins its a horror show. Or do you think everything since 911 was hunky dory and due to the invisible jihad hand?

Far right wing commentator Ann Coulter sparked outrage on social media on Election Day eve by suggesting that Donald Trump would win in a 50-state landslide if the children and grandchildren of immigrants were not permitted to vote.
