I don't doubt that Iran's Revolutionary Guards are quite capable of harrassing U.S. warships to try to provoke an international incident on the eve of George Bush's trip to the Middle East.
But what really happened out there? And is it being made to appear WORSE than it really was?
I also realize that the Iranian Mullahocracy is a barbarous and brutal terrorist regime that lies about almost EVERYTHING.
But did the thugs in the boats actually say this?
"I am coming to you. ... You will explode after ... minutes."
And why does that voice sound so strange?
I'm no expert.... but I very much doubt that anyone could speak in such a monotone voice ... if they were racing along in a speedboat. Facing the wrath of the U.S. navy.
So where did it come from? A shore radio somewhere....or a passing tanker that you clearly see in the raw footage? Or was it added later ?
I'd like to believe the Pentagon's version .....but they already started one war with a naval confrontation that never happened.
....signals intelligence may have actually misled President Johnson and other top policymakers about the nature of the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident, in which a supposed North Vietnamese attack on US forces triggered a major escalation in the war.
Furthermore, US intelligence intercepted no communications or radar emissions associated with the assumed attack.
Then there was the Big Lie over the invisible weapons of mass destruction that they used to start the war with Iraq.
And the Big Lie over the Iranian nuclear program...that George Bush was trying to use start a war with that country.
The one he was still beating the drum for today.
Which makes me wonder whether he has decided that a war with Iran is the only way to save the Republicans. The only way to recreate the fear and the frenzied patriotism of 911.
And makes me worry that Dick Cheney and the Chimp are still determined to roll the dice...no matter what anyone says.
In a world of crazy thugs and liars....
Who ARE you supposed to believe?

UPDATE:
Pentagon now admits the threatening message did not come from the Iranian speedboats.
Pentagon officials said they could not rule out that the broadcast might have come from shore, or from another ship nearby...
The bad news?
After the War with Iran .... also known as the Great Apocalypse.
We'll find out it came from the Pentagon...
