Justin Trudeau has lived in the shadow of death for a long time. No Prime Minister has received so many violent threats.
During the last election campaign he was forced to wear a bullet proof jacket under his shirt at a rally in Ontario. Last summer a heavily armed reservist tried to attack him at his Rideau Hall home.
And nobody is smeared by his political opponents as much as he is, day in day out.
But this is the limit.
As you may know, I have come to believe that Jagmeet Singh is concealing his inner Con.
The way he smears Justin Trudeau, the way he lies like a thief, his appalling lack of knowledge about how our country works, make him more of a Con than a progressive in my book.
And this only confirms my worst fears.
I can only imagine how Erin O'Toole must be feeling. He was only eight-years-old when he told his classmates he was going to be Prime Minister.
And now he must be feeling he's almost there.
The Liberals and Conservatives are now running in a statistical dead heat, as Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole continues to gain momentum as a candidate among initially hesitant Canadians, according to nightly tracking conducted by Nanos Research for CTV News and the Globe and Mail.
But sadly for him, it looks like that giddy feeling is not going to last long.
When I fell out of bed this morning, it looked like such a beautiful day I couldn't wait to go sailing.
But then I noticed that there weren't many boats out, and most of those that were out were heading back to port.
And when I stepped out on to the balcony I understood why. It felt like 38 degrees, and was too hot to sail or even go to the beach.
And then I saw this and I practically passed out
It had to be one of the weirdest videos Erin O'Toole has ever made, and that's saying something.
For there he was looking like a late night TV salesman, flogging his absurd plan for a month-long GST holiday, that would reward Canadians for making him Prime Minister.
While standing next to a pile of toys to make him look family friendly.
And still somehow managing to channel Stephen Harper.
I wish I could like Jagmeet Singh like I once did, when he was a fresh face on the political scene.
But I can't. He's not the man I thought he was, and I just can't trust him.
He's always claiming credit for the ideas of others, and he lies like a Con.
And this was his latest fib.
It was such a beautiful day, a picture perfect postcard of my beautiful Canada, on the fine line between summer and fall.
So all I wanted to do was rush out there and join all the other boats in the bay.
And I didn't really feel like waiting around for the election to be called.
But as it turned out it all worked out well.
It's sometimes hard to imagine why Erin O'Toole is such a threat to this country and its values. I mean look at him.
He reminds me of a loser zombie, losing pieces of his rotting flesh almost as fast as he's losing supporters.
But of course to think that would be a fatal mistake.
For this is who O'Toole and his Cons really are.
And it's disgusting.
Jagmeet Singh and Erin O'Toole like to describe themselves as "warriors." But as I pointed out the other day, they are both so afraid of an election, they have been running around squawking like chickens.
They are claiming that the Parliament they turned into a toxic clown circus was working just fine.
And they are also claiming that Justin Trudeau will pay for calling an election, because Canadians don't want one either.
But sadly for them, they couldn't be more wrong.
Erin O'Toole's foreign advisors have apparently told him that his only chance of winning the next election is to try to fool Canadians into believing that the Cons are now moderates, and not right-wing kooks.
So the desperate O'Toole has finally agreed to encourage Canadians to get vaccinated.
Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole said today that all Canadians should get vaccinated so that the country can turn the page on COVID-19 — but at least one member of his caucus is spoiling for a fight against efforts to make vaccines mandatory for federal public servants.
Only to have one of his own Cons expose the extremism of his kooky party.
Well Justin Trudeau hasn't yet issued an election call. He's apparently too busy leading the fight against the pandemic.
And making sure we are prepared for the next one.
But don't be disappointed, there is a race going on.
And a desperate one at that.
A few months ago I told my friends that I was hoping for a really hot summer, so all those Con clowns who don't believe that global warming is real, could be roasted in their own ignorance.
And Justin Trudeau could use the issue of climate change in the upcoming election to clobber Erin O'Toole, and win himself another majority.
And boy did that wish come true.
Today in the place where I live it felt like 40 degrees outside.
And this is a bonus.
When Erin O'Toole first became Con leader he vowed to bring down the Trudeau government as soon as he could.
But soon he stopped talking about an election, when one poll after the other convinced him that he might be the one who lost his job.
And now that an election call could be imminent, he's shaking like a leaf, or a big bowl of Jello.
And letting everyone know that now is NOT the time.
With a possible election call only days away, it's starting to look like a zombie apocalypse out there.
The Cons and the NDP can see the Liberals coming for them and they're not happy.
They're terrified.
Jagmeet Singh is so afraid, he's still trying to bully the Governor General into cancelling the election, even before it's called.
And Erin O'Toole's foreign advisers have just about given up trying to revive his candidacy.
When I saw a magnificent Lancaster bomber flying over my place yesterday, for a moment I thought the election had been called.
For it is going to be like a war, and the future of Canada will be at stake.
But it wasn't E- Day. The Big Red Machine may be roaring like that Lancaster.
But only Justin Trudeau knows when that call will come.
The look of shock and despair on Erin O'Toole's face said it all. And who can blame him?
A few days ago Justin Trudeau announced that his government would put pressure on New Brunswick to pay for abortion services at a private clinic in Fredericton.
As the Canada Health Act says they should do.
But when O'Toole was asked whether he would do the same, his answer was no.
