I don't know how I managed to watch the whole debate. I had a splitting headache when it was over.
But at least just seconds after it did finally end, CNN's Jake Tapper made me feel like I wasn't alone.
“That was a hot mess, inside a dumpster fire, inside a train wreck. That was the worst debate I have ever seen. It wasn’t even a debate. It was a disgrace.”
For it was monstrous.
And The Beast has rarely looked so beastly.
Ever since he posed for this picture, and helped trigger a Con COVID outbreak, Erin O'Toole has been relatively quiet.
He has refrained from attacking Justin Trudeau like Andrew Scheer used to do every day of the year.
O'Toole was no doubt trying to fool Canadians into believing that he may be the leader of the Bigot Party, but he's really a nice guy.
But sadly, that was then, and this is now.
In my last post I wondered whether it was better to mock Trump rather than just denounce him.
And I had to admit that I have always preferred to mock him.
But since then there have been some sensational developments and I have had to update that post.
For almost four years decent Americans have called Donald Trump every name in the book, from depraved pussy grabber to deranged werewolf.
And they were all right.
But the sad truth is that very few of those angry words have had any effect on the orange oaf's bestial behaviour.
If anything he's getting worse.
When I first heard that Erin O'Toole had tested positive for COVID-19 I felt sorry for him, or at least as sorry as I could ever feel for the leader of Canada's Bigot Party.
I hoped he would make a quick recovery, and that for the sake of others he would stop bellowing at people, or at least have the decency to wear a mask.
But the small reservoir of sympathy I had for him quickly evaporated when I found out how he got sick.
Testing for COVID-19 has become a big political issue for all the wrong reasons.
Far too many Canadians who don't need to be tested are lining up to get the test, overwhelming labs, and then complaining about the time it takes to get a result.
But now it seems those overwhelmed labs may get a break, from man's best friends.
Like these at Finland's Helsinki airport .
As we all know Donald Trump is slowly but surely coming apart at the seams. With less than forty days to go before the election the pressure is obviously getting to him.
And he's never sounded crazier or more dangerous.
He won't even commit to a peaceful transfer of power.
Which is scary.
But on the other hand, as Randy Rainbow points out, there's never been a better time for decent Americans to declare "I won't vote for Trump."
I'm glad to see that Justin Trudeau has resumed his COVID-19 briefings, for this country badly needs strong leadership at a time like this one.
The virus is surging again, most of the premiers are simply not up to the job, the Cons are out of control.
And before even more Canadians die, the whole country needs to get this urgent message.
Justin Trudeau's throne speech could not have come at a better time.
As the second wave of a murderous pandemic threatens to engulf us, many Canadians are frightened and losing hope for a better tomorrow.
So what Trudeau had to say mattered.
I had hoped, after all that heroic work by our frontline medical workers, and all that isolation misery, that we would be further ahead in our battle to tame COVID-19.
But sadly we're not. We're falling back in many places in Canada.
People are fighting over whether or not they should be wearing masks.
And the virus is surging.
Donald Trump tried to bully Justin Trudeau from the moment they first met.
And in early August he tried again, by slapping tariffs on Canadian aluminum.
But if he thought he could bully Trudeau and this country, and get away with it, he was sadly mistaken.
Because (most) Canadians and their leader don't intimidate easily.
The other day I went out for a bike ride, and at the end of my street came across Justin Trudeau.
He was attending an event to announce a new loan program for black owned businesses.
But all any of the ratty members of the Con media wanted to know, was whether he was planning an early election.
And this is what Trudeau had to say about that.
It's an absolute freak show. A real fascist circus, where Erin O'Toole tries to fool Canadians into believing that he's really a nice guy.
While the Con clowns in the media lick him like a lollipop, and would have us believe that he's not just a nice guy, he's also compassionate.
When in fact he is neither.
But of course, they can't fool me, because I know that O'Toole is not what he wants to make us believe.
He's a shameless opportunist, a third-rate Trump impersonator, who likes or liked to be called True Blue O'Toole.
For he knows what might happen to him if he loses.
So a high level group of politicians, civil servants, media experts, and strategists decided to build a series of war games to try to figure out what might happen.
And some of the results were terrifying.
So he's trying to convince people that he's a nice guy, and definitely NOT Andrew Scheer.
But the more things change, the more they don't.
And I'm sure Scheer is loving this one.
