For the police finally moved in, and soon many of the trucker Cons were the ones squealing like pigs.
As they and their top leaders were arrested.
Large numbers of police officers are moving in on protesters in downtown Ottawa and making arrests — including high profile organizers Tamara Lich, Chris Barber and Pat King — during an intense clash with the demonstrators who have so far refused to leave the area.
Their bank accounts are frozen.
And one truck after the other finally left, or was towed away.
It's was a wonderful sight, and I was impressed, and at times frustrated, by how restrained the police behaved..
But there was a reason police had to be very careful, and that's because many of the hardcore trucker thugs, are religious fanatics.
Christian faith — with an overtly evangelical feel — flows likes an undercurrent through the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa.
It's unclear how many of the roughly 4,000 people who gathered in the Parliament precinct this past weekend call themselves Christians, but the biblical references were everywhere — in the hand-made placards lining the stone and iron fence at the border of Parliament Hill reading, "We are praying for Justin [Trudeau]," quoting parts of Psalm 23 or paraphrasing 1 Corinthians 1:27 in the New Testament:
"God chose the foolish to shame the wisdom of the wise."
And all through the occupation they were everywhere...
And I mean everywhere...

Starting Friday, "Jericho marches" began circling the parliamentary precinct every morning. The name refers to the Old Testament story of the Israelites walking around the walls of Jericho for seven days. On the seventh day, the Israelites marched seven times, blew rams horns and shouted. The walls came tumbling down.
Can you believe it?
They were trying to bring down the government by walking seven times around our parliament, and honking blowing their horns.
But don't laugh, or be fooled, those Con kooks and assorted anti-vaxxer fanatics really are dangerous.
Children are being used as human shields.
Police officers are being assaulted.
And yet, despite all of that, and the economic damage they have done to this country, the Cons are still supporting the trucker terrorists.
No doubt because so many of their MPs and supporters are also under the sway of the religious right.
Take Candy Bergen for example. She now says she's against the blockades, but she is also against the Emergencies Act.
Even though she encouraged the terrorist truckers to occupy Ottawa, and she couldn't have welcomed them more warmly.
Especially the trucks with the word "God" on them, like that one or this one...
And then there's Pierre Poilievre who is making it clear where he would take this country...
Which should also make it clear why he should NEVER be Prime Minister.
For when you collaborate with the trucker terrorists who held a Canadian city hostage for more than three weeks, you are no better than a terrorist yourself. And you will pay for what you have done, all the way to the next election.
This evening the police were still clearing away the last of the Con fascists and their trucks.
But the battle has at last been won.
Wellington street looks and smells cleaner than it has in a long time.
And along with the police and the people of Ottawa, Justin Trudeau was the big winner.
He refused to negotiate with the terrorists, even when they threatened to kill him and his family.
He brought in the Emergencies Act to break the backs of the religious fanatics who thought they could turn us into a theocracy.
And all I can say is thank you!!! thank you!!! freedom!!! freedom!!!
Canada still lives, and our long nightmare is finally over...

As the Ottawa occupation finally winds down, the hatred being whipped up against Trudeau by right-wing and alt-right media is deeply concerning. Tucker Carlson and other influential propagandists are giving him the Hillary treatment on steroids with their hysterical Hitler/tyrant/dictator analogies. Needless to say, Cons are fanning the flames back at home. I hope Trudeau is accorded a top-notch security detail after he leaves office because the hatred isn't likely to abate anytime soon.
The last three weeks have served as a sickening wake-up call that Canada has its own fair share of deplorables. They are a serious and ongoing threat. In addressing it, law enforcement will need to step up their game.

I live in Ottawa I know this crowd of Christian bigots. I went down to the Red (cockroach) Zone frequently purposely wearing a mask to evoke their jeers and disdain and giving it back better than I took.
So I stopped to top off my tank and as I was proceeded, a redneck leaving the store with a bandana as a face mask, (of course) driving a snowplow came up to me all friendly like and said, "Did yah hear Trudeau killed a elder Indian woman last...." thinking I was one of them.
I immediately cut him off, and told the plague rat to spout his fascist shit elsewhere, I don't listen to Nazis."
I work the trades and I'm fairly big so he wasn't about to attack because the coward didnt have his pack.
Another customer stood beside me and joined in "Move along Nazi, we don't want you here. I was never more proud to be Canadian as when a little Arabic Canadian stepped up beside us too and jeered at the fascist.
I eventually pulled my phone out but was kicking myself for not pulling it out immediately. Cockroaches hate the light of day. I always wondered, as a child, what my father meant by those words that would most certainly be deemed as blasphemous by the holier than thou cult on the right. As I got older, I got what he meant and through the years, the absolute hypocrisy throughout religions sank in and I avoided them like the plague. If that's your thing then fine but with everything in life, we must use moderation. Is it just me or does she seem a bit irritated? I would be too. Assets frozen, serious criminal charges and huge lawsuits against oneself would tend to do that. I wonder if they'll start a gofundme to cover the huge costs? There's a whole world of hurt waiting for them thanks to Justin's invoking of the EA. A move that history will look upon with great pride and favour as it effectively brought the adults into the room when the municipal and provincial levels of government failed miserably to bring it under control. The cops were repeatedly praising the EA for their ability to rapidly dismantle the village of the damned while the moves to strangle the finances of those involved are simply incredible.

Thousands of people travelled through airports and train stations to get there and lived and competed covid free . Vaccine mandates, masking mandates and testing mandates worked. Saturday used to be an errand day, out shopping, maybe grabbing a lunch somewhere. Finally theyf are gone, but I think we need worry that we had a failure of government at all three levels.
Ottawa has protests all the time. As a former Ottawa & Hull resident I got used to avoiding demos or dealing with road closures when a visiting head of state or the Queen was in town. The Ottawa Police should have closed streets or diverted vehicles to marshaling yards. They have the experience and likely could have prevented the Wellington Street occupation. This could have been an egregious intelligence failure or because of some sympathy with the convoy at senior police ranks but either way a total failure.
For the provincial level, I get the impression that Doug Ford did his impression of Wiarton Willie seeing his shadow, figuring that the Ottawa occupation would embarrass the Liberals and abandoned Ontario citizens. It was not til the Ambassador Bridge blockade which was hurting his donors and perhaps seriously damaging some of the Ford Nation that he acted.
The Federal Gov't dithered way too long, probably expecting the Ontario Gov't to act before doing something and then had to use the sledgehammer of the Emergencies Act though they may have had to use it at any time given jurisdictional issues. Assuming that we had an intelligence failure, this seems likely to damn the RCMP and CSIS as well as the Ottawa Police.
The involvement of the religious right, the money from Russia to try to overthrow Trudeau, plus the money from MAGA as a dry run for America 2024 - it was an unusual combination, and hopefully the last time they will try this in Canada.
I must say, I am stunned that people from BC to New Brunswick are still trying to block border crossings. Its nuts.
Also, the whole thing has been a wake-up call for police across the world, to understand while they have been fortifying against the mostly-law abiding hippies of BLM, these right-wingers have been preparing themselves to roll right over them.

I saw some visuals this morning (Sunday) of snowy Wellington Street without a single rig, or trucker terrorist, to spoil it's peaceful beauty. I watched the bullies being led away in handcuffs, and I must admit, every time I heard one of them bellow "FREEDOOOOOM" I practically died laughing. The police were finally able to deploy enough officers to make a difference. And the way they squeezed them out of the Parliament Hill area was a thing of beauty. Hi RT….I thought the police action was simply brilliant. They had to show a lot of patience in freezing weather, but they managed to restrain themselves and not give the religious fanatics a chance to claim they were martyrs. You could see the disappointment in their faces as no police clubbed them or their children. Especially their children.
