It was a cold, grey, fall day. All I could do was pull my hoodie over my head, stare at the Wall of Despair. And try to figure out which story was more depressing.
America elected Obama president, and America needs a strong president -- all the more so when he's under siege. But as Republicans gear up for the fight of their lives, Obama appears to be ironing his white flag.
Because who does Obama think he is? The leader of the progressives, or the darling of the lynch mob?

Because those poor sheep seem to love freedom more than he does.
And we all know it won't be long before the ruling teabaggers start screaming how DARE they build a slaughterhouse so close to Ground Zero? #!@#!#
So what’s up? Pundits worry more about fundamental rights than ordinary Canadians? Average Joes are too clueless to appreciate the slippery slope we’re on? Hard times have made people mean-spirited?
Or maybe they just think he’s guilty. Either way, Canadians seem determined to make up their own minds these days.

And my conclusion? All those stories are EQUALLY depressing.

Remember Carl Paladino, the teabagger candidate for Governor of New York? The homophobic zombie who declared that the "gay lifestyle was not valid."
Well I'm happy to report that he got clobbered by the Democratic candidate Andrew Cuomo.
In his victory speech, Cuomo took shots at Paladino and his Tea Party backing, saying: "They were trying to exploit the fear. They were trying to exploit the anger."
"The people of this state today said you're not going to divide us," Cuomo said. "You can try it somewhere else, but you're not going to sell that in New York."
And went out like a thug...
Golly. Who knew zombies carried orange baseball bats?
I could say a lot about last night's teabagger tidal wave, about the madness and the racism.
But right now all I want to say is that this right-wing freak is the new governor of Florida.

Except that Stephen Harper and his foul Cons are Canada's teabaggers.
Harper wants to kill medicare more than he wants to do ANYTHING.
Obama was too soft on these evil reactionaries, and we cannot afford to make the same mistake.
They say it’s time to sell off and privatize schools, hospitals and public services. We should say there are some important things best done together – like good public education for our kids and good health care no matter how big your wallet is.

The Ipsos Reid survey found that 49 per cent of the population did not want the Toronto-born Khadr, who confessed to the 2002 killing of a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan, to serve any part of his sentence in Canada.
More than two-thirds of respondents in the survey or 69 per cent said that "Khadr probably is guilty and this plea bargain is too generous, and that the Canadian government was right not to have offered him any assistance up to this point."

Well as you can imagine, I didn't have a very good Halloween.
How are you supposed to scare anyone eh? When you're living in Rob Ford's Toronto. We're heading for four years of class warfare.
Each of these policies on their own are enough to justify months of strikes. It has been said that “four years of turbulence” is what’s upon us now. I say “four years of class war” is probably a more accurate designation.
Stumbling on John Cartwright, from the Toronto & York Region Labour Council this past Wednesday I asked him what labour’s response to Ford would be. He said: “We’ll do to him what the Republicans are doing to Obama.”
And the mood in my neck of the woods is similar to the one in Pooh's little neighbourhood...
Because they all voted for Joe Pantalone. And he came LAST. The idiots.
And to make matters worse, even my dog was depressed.
Because he didn't have the fancy costume the dog next door had.

And seeing Cat Stevens playing live for the first time was a bonus.
But as a political statement the rally was a DUD.
In a time of war we don't need no peace train.
We need more messages like this one.
So when Stephen Harper tries to fool Canadians into thinking that although he spent FOURTEEN years trying to destroy medicare, he now he wants to SAVE IT.
”When it comes to managing taxpayers’ money through a recession I will not make any apologies to a party that cut the military, that cut health care, that cut education and that raised taxes,” Mr. Harper cried. “We are on a very different track in this government.”

The Prime Minister typically builds to a full-throated yell, but here he went directly to a shout. Indeed, he seems now committed to yelling his way through this debate, to defeating his detractors with decibels.

And BTW...I know it's Halloween. But who the hell does he think he she is?
The government was put on the defensive in the House of Commons after a Postmedia News report that revealed the annual cost of the prime minister's office had ballooned to nearly $10 million -- a jump of 30 per cent over the past two years.
And why is he spending our hard earned tax dollars like water, trying to make himself look PRETTY? So he can tell the provinces later he doesn't have enough money for MEDICARE?
Oh yeah. Obama was a sucker. He was too soft on his enemies. He tried to play Lincoln instead of Sherman, and ended up sounding like Emperor Jones.

A U.S. State Department memorandum shows the Canadian government was aware of Omar Khadr's plea deal with the U.S. government, contradicting repeated denials by the Harper government such a deal had been made.
