Lawrence Cannon has a lot of bad days eh? But some are worse than others. The horror. The humiiation.
First he rushes out to say that the Harper Cons aren't worried at all about what the Americans might have said about them in the Wikileak cables.
Cannon stood before reporters Monday to condemn the unauthorized release of a quarter-million diplomatic cables, while vowing that none of them relating to Canada would be outrageous enough to damage what he called one of the best relationships in the world.
Shorter version: They can screw us, but we'll still blow them. Because of course that's Harper's "independent" foreign policy. They lead, we follow... on everything from climate change to Afghanistan.
Which was bad enough eh?
But what really shocked me was how after licking his lips so lasciviously, the shambling stooge had nerve to rise in the Commons and announce that his lips were now SEALED.
The Bloc leader rose to twice directly ask the Foreign Affairs Minister—”oui ou non?”—whether Canada had indeed transferred children to the Afghan intelligence service. Twice Mr. Cannon thus stood and notably avoided offering anything like a direct response.
So we still don't know what happened to those child prisoners. Or whether we handed them over to the Afghan police rapists, or the National Directorate of Security torturers.
"The use of harsh interrogation techniques [on children] and forced confession of guilt by the Afghan National Police and the National Directorate of Security was documented," according to the UN report. The report is silent on which countries detained those children.
Or whether we've been violating international law. Again.
"International law is dead clear that when a person is under 18 and in the hands of the Canadian military...You can't treat them like an insurgent. You have to treat them as a child who's been forced into war against their will."
Or why we're staying on in Afghanistan except to keep on blowing the Americans. And following them to moral ruin.
Oh boy. Lawrence Cannon says his lips are sealed.

Well as you can imagine, I didn't have a very good Halloween.
How are you supposed to scare anyone eh? When you're living in Rob Ford's Toronto. We're heading for four years of class warfare.
Each of these policies on their own are enough to justify months of strikes. It has been said that “four years of turbulence” is what’s upon us now. I say “four years of class war” is probably a more accurate designation.
Stumbling on John Cartwright, from the Toronto & York Region Labour Council this past Wednesday I asked him what labour’s response to Ford would be. He said: “We’ll do to him what the Republicans are doing to Obama.”
And the mood in my neck of the woods is similar to the one in Pooh's little neighbourhood...
Because they all voted for Joe Pantalone. And he came LAST. The idiots.
And to make matters worse, even my dog was depressed.
Because he didn't have the fancy costume the dog next door had.
Until I told him WHAT ? !!!! You want to look like Lawrence Cannon?
And then he felt better. Because ANYTHING is better than that.
Oh well. I'm hoping that next Halloween will be better eh? By that time Rob Ford will probably be back in Florida, after one drunken episode too many. And failing to report that he can't count.
Lawrence Cannon should be tap dancing for quarters or metro tickets in front of some sleazy nightclub in Montreal.
Stephen Harper should be under arrest for war crimes and/or posing as an economist.
And whatever happens I'm building myself one of these...

But if I could put Stephen Harper's mask on it, and make it squeal like Rob Ford.

The defeat marks a significant embarrassment for Stephen Harper’s government. It is the first time in more than 50 years Canada has not won a campaign for a temporary seat on the Security Council.
You can fool some dumb Canadians all the time eh? But you can't fool the WORLD.
You can't attack the U.N. for years, you can't act like an arm of Israel's right-wing government, you can't base your foreign policy on Old Testament prophesy, you can't sabotage efforts to fight global warming, you can't abuse human rights, you can't hurt thousands of poor women by denying them safe abortions, and hope to get away with it.
Just like you can't humiliate Canada in the eyes of the world, and make us look like a Banana Republic, by blaming this stinging slap in the face on Michael Ignatieff and his Liberals.
As the shambling stooge Lawrence Cannon did today.
"In years past, Canada has spoken with one voice" when it has campaigned for a Security Council seat, Cannon said, a factor that was missing this time. He said that, while he couldn't point to a specific reason for Canada's failure to obtain a seat this year, "I can say that Michael Ignatieff's statement hurt us."
I watched this news conference live, and I can honestly say I have NEVER been so embarrassed to be a Canadian. So intent were these Cons on using THEIR defeat to attack the Liberals, they forgot to provide the world's media with simultaneous translation.
Can you believe that? What have these pathetic klowns done to our beautiful country? And how LOW can they go?
For the record, most delegates had probably never even heard of Michael Ignatieff. They couldn't care less about our domestic politics. They judged this country not on its glorious past, but on its recent actions. And thanks to the loathsome and crazed reactionary Stephen Harper, they just weren't good enough. Period.
