It's hard to believe that it's now been almost two years since Covid first appeared, and changed our lives forever.
And even harder to believe that even after all we've been through, it's still spreading like wildfire.
So much so that we're probably all going to get it sooner or later.
But on this last day of the cursed year 2021, it seems there is some good news at last.
As the Omicron variant keeps spreading like wildfire, many hospitals in this country are teetering on the edge of collapse.
Burnout and staff shortages have created a dangerous situation, and everyone knows that the only way we avoid straining the system further is by getting more Canadians vaccinated.
Which makes what Erin O'Toole is doing even more disgusting and criminal.
Ever since Erin O'Toole became Con leader he has crawled through a political sewer of his own making.
He has fired off one vile attack ad at Justin Trudeau, he has lied like a thief, he has debased our Parliament and our country.
But something funny seems to have happened to him on the road to Christmas.
He has stopped attacking Trudeau, and is now pretending to be Mr Nice Guy.
It was billed as Erin O'Toole's breakthrough moment. The moments when 62 Con MPs who had voted to keep on torturing LGBT kids, changed their minds.
And voted unanimously to ban conversion therapy.
But I never believed it. I could smell the stench of bigotry.
And I was right.
It's hard to get away from it. The sinking feeling that we've been here before. Two long years ago.
The feeling that all that suffering went for nothing, and that we're back where we began.
Doomed to wear masks, and live our lives remotely, at fifty per cent capacity, if we're lucky. Forever.
So I find it hard to relate to those who are so burned out, so emotionally exhausted, they're ready to throw in the towel, and surrender to this beast...
With the Winter Break just a few days away, Erin O'Toole is getting more and more desperate, and throwing all but the kitchen sink at Justin Trudeau.
He's accusing Justin Trudeau of being responsible for the rise in inflation, even suggesting that Trudeau doesn't care if Canadians starve.
He's blaming him for the collapse of Afghanistan, and has suggested that he's not a real Canadian, like HIMSELF.
He's even blasted Trudeau for not planting enough trees. Can you believe it? From the party that doesn't believe that climate change is real.
It's all deeply disturbing, but this is absolutely INSANE...
It was an amazing sight. Erin O'Toole shaking hand with Justin Trudeau, after the Bill to ban conversion therapy received unanimous approval in the House of Commons.
Staring into the eyes of the man he smears every day of the year.
Some in our shabby media proclaimed that what we were witnessing was the birth of a more moderate Con party, and even suggested that we could trust them again.
Which of course would be a fatal mistake, for the Cons are still the Cons.
And O'Toole is still O'Toole.
It's been 32 years since their young lives ended so suddenly and so brutally.
If they had lived some of them could could be grandmothers today, with daughters attending the same engineering school where they were murdered.
The École Polytechnique, where they were studying, determined to show the world that women could be just as good engineers as men.
Only to have all their dreams shattered, on a snowy evening in Montreal, by an angry man with a gun.
He is an ugly right wing extremist, a cruel bully, and a toxic Trudeau hater of the lowest order.
Once he would say crazy things like "the root cause of terrorism is terrorism."
Now he's the Con shadow Finance Minister, and he's still saying crazy things....
When I woke up yesterday morning, I wasn't sure how long it would be before the torture of LGBT kids would finally be over.
For Erin O'Toole was promising his Cons a free vote on the Bill to ban the horror of conversion therapy.
And goodness knows his party reeks of bigotry.
I vividly remember the scene. Justin Trudeau was addressing a small rally in a field in the Montérégie, back in 2018.
When suddenly a nasty old woman started heckling him in an ugly racist manner.
Trudeau in his usual polite way told her to behave herself, only to have her accuse him of demeaning her, and sue him for $90,000.
Which was totally absurd as you can see in this video.
