Are The Loser Cons Condemned To Destroy Themselves?

I've been waiting to hear from Erin O'Toole, after his humiliating defeat at the hands of Justin Trudeau, left him looking like a zombie from The Night of the Living Dead.

I wanted to know whether he would acknowledge that his relentless smearing of Trudeau got him absolutely nowhere.

And that just about everything his very expensive foreign advisers told him to do, was a total waste of money.

But it seems that neither him nor his loser Cons have learned a thing.

For can you believe that?

As world leaders prepare to meet at the COP26 summit, in a last ditch attempt to try to prevent climate change from torching the planet, O'Toole and his ugly Cons are trying to pour fuel on the flames.

So much for his "plan" to fight climate change...

Has that Con clown no shame?

And as if that wasn't bad enough, he still won't say whether he will mandate vaccines for his Con MPs.

And for a very good reason: he doesn't dare.

The rabid rednecks and kooky religious fanatics in his caucus would tear him to pieces.

Which effectively means he's paralyzed, trapped between a rock and a hard place, and unable to move his party in the direction it needs to go if it is ever to appeal to more Canadians.

As Andrew Coyne recently wrote, the Con's problems are simple:

The proposition the Conservatives placed before the people in this election was less a move to the middle than a move to the muddle. There was no attempt to ground the proposals in any coherent set of principles, conservative or otherwise. Instead the public was presented with a bewildering series of contradictions: between the platform and established party doctrine, on everything from deficits to taxes to free trade.

The point has been made that, having remade himself at least twice already, Mr. O’Toole is now suffering something of an authenticity deficit, which a shift back to the right, in a bid to mollify the party’s disaffected base, could only make worse.

The leader has no principles, and neither has the party.

Which is why O'Toole is in such a hurry for parliament to resume.

So him and his Cons can turn the Commons into a fascist circus, and start attacking Justin Trudeau again, for that's all they got.

And the good news? That almost certainly won't be enough to pick O'Toole off the floor.

Even if he survives his leadership review...

Which needless to say, is definitely NOT a sure thing.

While Justin Trudeau on the other hand, now has the wind in his sails.

And can concentrate on winning the war against Covid, and stepping up the battle against climate change.

While O'Toole and his Cons are going nowhere in a hurry...

So as I prepare to set sail for Glasgow, I leave you with this question:

Will we destroy the Cons, or are they condemned to destroy themselves?

Love it Simon. You are a treat, and have been for a long time for me. Thank you! I mean it.

Seems to me the Cons are trapped, for now. So far, a full Trumpian/Nazi message would not work up here (although, as the US Republicans have proven, all Cons of any nation will get behind pure full pulped HATRED if it means power). We must ever forget this about the right. They will do anything.

On the flip side, traditional "small c conservative" messages lack the hatred and celebration of missing brain cells that their base NEEDS.

So, as deluded Con nutcase Coyne says, it's a "muddle".

It has to be. I mean, What other option did the Tool have than to go full Trumpian Fascist?

Our CON media likes to pretend there are options, but there aren't.

Nothing but the red meat of pure tear it all down and destroy everything hatred will satisfy these people.

My fear is their next leader actually has some charisma and goes there.

Then, the facade that "it can't happen here" will exposed as a lie.

Hi Brian....Thank you for your kind words. I don't get many compliments, I think I have more enemies than friends these days. Although I should say that I have been lucky over the years, and people are probably tired of political blogs, so I shouldn't take it personally. As for the Cons, I do think they have trapped themselves. O'Toole went very far right to win the leadership race, and now he can't get back without causing the racist rabble to come after him, even as the party establishment is still desperately betting that he can make the Cons look more moderate. Good luck with that one. As the only saying goes, they made their beds, and now they have to lie in them...

Enzo DiMatteo of NOW Toronto is emerging as the canary in the coal mine corroborating the #CdnMediaFailed criticism. To deflect from the cons being a slow-burning nuclear dumpster fire, the Globe and its ilk have decided to invent a phony leadership contest to replace Justin Trudeau, still banging the drum about the unnecessary election and "he didn't win a majority, therefore he failed".

Cue Freeland in the adversarial role of the cynical, desperate Fife's Chretien/Martin fanfic. With bonus battle of the sexes, pornographic soap opera optics for the dirty old men at the water cooler. What was it Don Henley said? "All the boys in the newsroom got a running bet"? To add insult to injury, Angry Tom Mulcair (he of CTV, the television arm of the Thomson family agitprop enterprise) has gone all-in on Carney instead because -- get this -- Freeland has been a "foreign policy disaster" because she makes Putin shit his pants!

https://nowtoronto.com/news/freeland-emerges-as-medias-foil-on-trudeau-leadership-questions

I must have missed another election because I just checked and Trudeau is still PM, no doubt to the chagrin of Bob Fife et. al. Attempting to goad "Yoko Freeland" into breaking up the band isn't going to work. They tried with JWR, but Freeland is actually a team player and has more sincere goals for the country than advertising herself.

Being a former journalist (an actual journalist, not a PR hack), Freeland knows their machinations. After all, should they succeed in their hypothetical gambit, they won't wait five minutes before tearing her apart. Just ask Hillary Clinton, or better yet Chuck Todd. Where Trudeau, after six years, continues to be demeaned as "just not ready," the narrative is building that Freeland is "overprepared."

But this is your occasional reminder that the Globe editor was a Rupert Murdoch protege and that #CdnMediaFailed again and again and again. Perhaps, instead of attempting to sow a tabloid narrative of "Le Divorce" surrounding the dynamic duo of the LPC, Fife and his goons should be out there birdwatching instead? There's a screeching buzzard/pigeon hybrid of the species Penis Minimus that's been "Tweeting" from his perch in Carleton, Ontario. Rumour has it, he's on the lookout to prey upon a bald eagle -- I mean dodo -- in his natural habitat of the true blue outhouse...

Hi Jackie....I am tuning out all those Con sideshows, and trying to focus on the big picture. As far as I'm concerned, the Cons are having a collective breakdown. It's sinking in that they lost the election they were so sure they were going to win, and they're looking their marbles. Over the last two years they fooled themselves into believing that one fake scandal after the other would be the end of Justin Trudeau. Only to be disappointed over and over again. It's truly pathetic, and if they were half human I might even feel sorry for them. But they're not so I'm not. I'm totally focused on the challenges the Liberal government faces, and I think that they are now in position to do something truly great. And as for the succession race, it will come down to Freeland Vs Carney and whatever the result it practically guarantees the Liberals will govern this country for at least another ten years...

Simon said...

Hi anon@7:59 AM...I have no idea what you are talking about. Who is PPS? But if you're trying to keep the fake Tofino scandal going you're out of luck. It's over, nobody gives a damn, so if you want to hum a song, try humming "Four More Years" "Four More Years" while wearing a big clown nose, and jumping up and down on one foot. You're losers, you've been humiliated, and I'm enjoying every minute...

Erin O'Toole needn't pull his hair out trying to figure out why he lost. It's really quite simple. He zigged and zagged and flipped and flopped while JT stayed the course. The course most Canadians want as we continue on as a shining example of democracy and decency throughout the world. The problem with the Cons is that their Heinz 57 variety of deplorables will never resonate among the majority and therein lies the problem. They're a hodgepodge mishmash of odious intenders through which no one will ever be able to unite as one to serve the needs of us all. Even with the Con media's never ending fluffing of the tool, this election has proven that no matter how much lipstick you slather on the pigs, they're still pigs.
To answer your question, Simon, I say this, the Cons are quite capable of self destruction but in this case I will go against my instincts and do what they would do in a similar situation. Kick them while they're down. For all the hate they've injected into our political system over the years it's the very least that I can do.

PPS is Parliamentary Protective Service, the Canadian equivalent to our Secret Service. If con-anon is getting close enough to the PM that he has some details about Trudeau's surrounding security forces that the rest of us are not privy to, he had better be sure that they're aware of him too -- and that's not just whistling Dixie.

The recent events in the UK are prima facie evidence that gravel-throwers, sausage makers and incendiary stochastic rhetoric of both the left and right are long overdue to be taken seriously. Time Canada's deplorable media class wake up and stop pretending like Jack Kennedy is a meme character invented by "Liberal Twitter."

Simon, I know you're not a religious person and I'm not either. I have zero respect for the whore of Rome, in fact. But if you could retweet this to your followers and add the #CdnMediaFailed hashtag to it, I'm sure it would be a big hit. You know, because of "optics" and "gravitas" and all those other things the media cares about, instead of policy discussion. This is hilarious, and it's just what we've all been saying! Now it's got "authority" behind the sentiment, from the... "voice of Franky" you might say...

https://twitter.com/Pontifex/status/1449406782527270914

Also might want to tag David Akin and Stephen Maher, who seem to think that any objection to pointless scandalmongering makes you a Liberal Psycho. Tag all the members of the Canadian media's Hate Club. I dare them to object to a little bit of divine intervention. Skippy and Chuckles should team up to haul this guy before a committee, and accuse him of being a shill for Katie Telford on the PMO payroll! LOL!

Have a fun visit Simon, just remember to stay away from black ice! Although there may be a lull in interest, hope you keep the blog going at least until the Cons end their marriage made in hell and the angry hell fire and brimstone group strike out on their own or emigrate to Texas. On the positive side big oil money is moving towards profiteering from the last man standing phase of the game while the Cons are still focussed on outdated ethical expansion. Also my recent experience on Facebook suggests they are exploring less divisive ways of engaging readers without the need to amplify political garbage. Of course there is still Post media and its Trumpian backers but still hope they will soon hit a financial iceberg as their revenue stream continues to dwindle as the social media giants find other ways of engaging their click prone readers.

It is great seeing the CPC implode. Local pundits aren't even talking about PMJT or CPC or anything, they are in on the local LRT debacle which involved SNC-Lavallin (They were the lowest bidder...) and so on.

I don't expect CPC to have a "come to (Joe) Clark" moment in the next 2-3 years, so they will lose again. And again they will say they got more of the vote, and why why why is life so unfair.

Also, Parliament is going to 342 seats next elxn! -1 seat in QC, +1 in Alberta and I forget the others.

Enjoy Glasgow!

Hi JD...I think you're right, you really can't put lipstick on a Con hog. Erin O'Toole tried to do that by flip flopping all over the place, but the ones who made him Con leader were right-wing scum, and if he wants to stay leader he has to serve them on all fours. So no decent Canadians could ever trust him. He also failed to learn from Harper and Scheer, that the more you attack Justin Trudeau in a rabid manner the less effect those attacks have, and in many cases only make Trudeau look better. However people feel about Trudeau they know he's not the monster the Cons try to portray him as, so it bounces back on them. As for the question of what to do with the Cons I'm afraid I'm with you. The Cons have done so much damage to this country and its values they must be shown no mercy....

Hi Jackie....I think Pope Francis is the best Pope I have ever known, and this is a fine sentiment:

That the media put an end to the logic of post-truth, disinformation, defamation, slander and that sick attraction for scandal and that they seek to contribute to human fraternity.

But I don't think I my reputation would survive. i.e. my friends, including the many Catholic ones, would mock me for ages. And the Protestant ones who grew up calling the Pope the Whore of Babylon, would have my guts for garters. And since I'm going to stay with some of them in Glasgow, that could be dangerous.

We're all good boys now, but we were once juvenile delinquents. ;)

But luckily I don't think we need divine intervention. The Con media is taking a beating on Twitter and other places. With all the old white men being exposed as the biased wankers they are. Even Andrew Coyne is on the run after making some snarky comments about Patty Hadju, and I'm hoping that we can use the next year to discredit them further, and hopefully get people like Fife to retire....

Simon said...

Hi RT....It's a working visit, I'm going to observe the COP26 activities, and hopefully make enough noise to put pressure on world leaders to do something bold and inspiring. I'm proud that our government has the best climate plan ever developed in this country, but we can still do better. The oil pigs are on the ropes, and I was struck by something Paul Krugman said on his Twitter feed yesterday:

Future historians — if there are any future historians, that is, if civilization doesn't collapse — will be astonished that we let the planet burn for the sake of an industry that employs less than 3 percent of workers even in West Virginia

As I said in my post, the fact that O'Toole and his grubby gang are still acting as cheerleaders for the Tar Sands will eventually cost them everything...

Simon said...

Hi Pierre....I too have been struck by the way Canadians have been letting the Cons know that they are tired of their cheap political games. And I imagine that the loser Jagmeet Singh must be getting the same message. With Parliament not back until late November, Trudeau will be able to concentrate on governing, which is what Canadians want and should make the Liberals even more popular. He will still have to deal with Jason Kenney's absurd equalization referendum, but standing up to Kenney can again only make him more popular, and make O'Toole look like a hapless stooge. Golly, after all we've been through, I feel like parading through the streets singing "Happy Days Are Here Again" and don't we deserve them?

Colin Powell died today from COVID. He was fully vaccinated, but he was also immunocompromised by having blood cancer. All the more reason why everyone else should be getting the shot: the point is to protect others around you, especially those who can't.

I get the flu shot every year because my mother has an allergy to eggs and can't have it. Tool and his true blue outhouse party would rather this be the hill that they and everyone else gets to die on. WK says Trudeau belongs in jail for COVID deaths. No, it's WK's preferred party who belongs behind bars for aiding and abetting manslaughter.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-otoole-faces-damaging-prospect-of-a-televised-hybrid-parliament-for/

Michael Harris: Tories must move on from O'Toole. He keeps digging in his heels but it's like herding unvaccinated cats. When Bogus Reid says he's barely got support of half the party, and they always inflate the cons' numbers on every question, you know he's in trouble. And that's just party voters, not the members who are such RWNJs they make Max look like a Care Bear.

https://www.hilltimes.com/2021/10/18/tories-must-move-on-from-otoole/323168

Kick him to the curb already. He's a liar giving succor to covidiots who he's too craven and chickenshit to remove from caucus. Didn't some other MPs go public with cancer battles recently? Or are in remission? Dom LeBlanc, Jim Carr, Salma Zahid? Oh wait, those are Liberals, so the Cons don't care about them. The whole party should be disbanded as a matter of public health. I'm sure their next campaign song will make Bill Withers roll in his grave: "We All Need Somebody to Breathe On."

Based upon the latest W kinky tweets I have to ask, how many liberal cabinet ministers are lizard people? Do they have proper landed immigrant status and do vaccines work on lizards?

JT missed his son's fourteenth birthday today so that he could get publicly crucified by a bunch of cynical grandstanders over a no-win issue. Media specifically, but also the camera-ready shakedown artists who mug for them, like Blackstock and of course JWR.

What a pathetic display of self-debasing auto-da-fé today's presser was. Infuriating. I can't believe he genuflected like this. Who does he think he's going to win over? The people who already hate him aren't voting Liberal anyway, and they don't really care about Reconciliation either. They just like "seeing him squirm" as so many phrased it online. The only thing this event did was absolve cynical white media types of their role in reconciliation (which I no longer think is a feasible or even advisable file to pursue). They just joined in the Trudeau bash fest so they don't have to do anything themselves. Just like they did with SNC. Virtue signaling. The whole sham is ridiculous.

I'd miss him if he quit, but honestly, why does he even care anymore? Why take this abuse? "You didn't have to invite me back but I appreciate it" -- duh, of course they're going to invite him back, it serves a useful purpose to beat up the government by proxy, it's "catharsis." Plus who else is going to keep the syrup tap flowing? Even Casimir said the window might close in "two to three years" so she's probably anticipating an eventual con government isn't going to have it "on their radar". The people who stand to benefit most from him staying in office don't know how good they have it. They're going to be sorry for feeding his enemies talking points aimed at pushing him out.

I have a PET quote from 1969 that I've been muttering to myself all day today. It's an unpopular opinion and I won't repeat the words verbatim lest the comments section be bombarded. But it sums up how I feel about the whole project at this point. I was going to do something different for Columbus Day and Thanksgiving but now I couldn't care less.

The reality is most Canadians do not think about our Indigenous people very much. Most Canadians probably did not know the significance of September 30 and for most Canadians it was a regular day at work. For those of us that did get the day off not all of us did any reflecting on Truth and Reconciliation. As I stated in a previous comment I have done a great deal of reflecting before the day so I mostly did yard work on September 30.

So after all of the BS we have been seeing from the media on this we can safely conclude several things.

The Indigenous people are not a monolith in opinion, even within bands let alone across the 1 million Indigenous people in the country. So the opinions of leaders is representative of their own opinions not their people.

Those who hate Justin Trudeau, of all political stripes, will hate him regardless of what he does. At the risk of being crude he could personally pleasure all of them and they would still hate him. These people can be ignored.

Those who like Justin Trudeau will continue to like him.

The media will be the media. See my comment about pleasuring. The only difference with the media is they would report on it.

The rest will not care one way or another about Mr. Trudeau's activities on September 30.

Simon said...

Hi Jackie....I share your disgust with the whole situation. The scene in the court of the Con Queen Casimir was grotesque. For she couldn't have been ruder, and her lack of manners horrified me, and I'm sure millions of Canadians. Some chiefs are overplaying their hand, and risk doing serious damage to the reconciliation process. But I thought that Trudeau made the best of the bad situation, by refusing to react to Casimir's rude rant, and looking very dignified. That should win him a lot of new followers, because whether they agree with him or not, most Canadians don't like people insulting the Prime Minister in that way. And the more partisan the T&R process becomes, the more it will turnoff Canadians, and the less of a political issue it will become...

Simon said...

Hi Ottlib....I agree with you. The T&R story is not the burning issue some chiefs and the Con media are trying to make it out to be. The uncovering of those residential school graves, did shock many Canadians, but the way the Tofino story was hyped has caused many of them to tune out. For it's not as if the Cons can take advantage of the situation with their appalling record. So you can hear the air leaking out of the Tofino/Kamloops balloon, and in a few months more it will be almost totally forgotten. As it should be. Reconciliation is going to be a marathon and Trudeau will be just one of many Prime Ministers who will have to deal with it. And nothing our morally corrupt Con media can say is ever going to change that...

Anonymous said...

The Con strategy on the Indigenous file is to convince certain chiefs/ influencers that the route to respect/financial independence is to sign over the (ethical???) development of their natural resources for money. Its a win win for the Cons, if it works they own the chiefs and associated debt, if it fails the people are portrayed as nothing more than an unruly bunch who don't listen to their leaders or honour agreements therefore forceful intervention is necessary. I can understand why they are suspicious of any political party but while they bash Trudeau and the slow but genuine recognition and inclusion efforts the Cons are busy picking off their leaders one ego at a time. The signals are all there but its discouraging to watch while the Cons drag them into their spider web of deceit. So much promise on one hand and so much misery on the other. Why is it human nature seems to choose misery?
