It was just a horrible coincidence, albeit a bloody one.
But only hours after I ran this post with the picture of Donald Trump brandishing an AR 15 rifle.
The same weapon was used to slaughter a large number of high school students in Florida.
A heavily armed young man barged into his former high school about an hour northwest of Miami on Wednesday, opening fire on terrified students and teachers and leaving a death toll of 17 that could rise even higher, the authorities said.
And Trump never looked more hypocritical.
I am trying to avoid watching TV stories or reading anything more about the Las Vegas massacre.
Even though I am still curious about what could have driven someone to commit something so senseless and so murderous.
I can't handle any more of that misery and that madness.
But I do want to take a minute to recognize some true heroes.
At times it seemed to me like Hunter S. Thompson had come roaring back from the dead, to write one more chapter of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
One where a 64-year-old man holed up in a hotel room with 23 guns opens fire on a crowd below for no apparent reason.
At least 59 people are killed, and more than 500 are injured, in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.
Since the last deadliest mass shooting in modern American history just over a year ago.
And one where Donald Trump and his Republicans flap around like bats out of hell...
Blaming everybody but themselves.
As you may know, Richard Spencer is one of the leaders of the so-called alt-right movement in the United States. The one who gave it its name.
He claims he is not a neo-nazi, but he is a white supremacist.
Shortly after Donald Trump's victory he was caught on video whipping his supporters into giving him the Nazi salute, after he screamed "Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory!!!"
And now he's back in the news after being punched in the face while attending Trump's inauguration.
With just 48 hours to go before his inauguration Donald Trump is still claiming it will be a huge success.
Preparing to desecrate Abraham Lincoln's Bible.
And railing at those who point out that he will be taking office with less popular support than any president in modern U.S. history.
In one way at least, President-elect Donald J. Trump has already surpassed all of his recent predecessors. It took Barack Obama 18 months in the White House for his approval rating to slip to 44 percent in Gallup polling, and it took George W. Bush 4½ years to fall that far. Mr. Trump got there before even being sworn in.
As only he can.
OK. Now it really is a horror show, and a living nightmare, just as I predicted.
With only ten days to go before the American election, and Donald Trump closing in on Hillary Clinton.
Clinton gets mugged by the FBI, dragged into another episode of her never ending e-mail scandal.
And yes, it doesn't get any worse than this...
The more I watch the Donald Trump show, the more it reminds me of the movie Cabaret, before the Nazis took over.
Because by now it's beyond crazy even by the standards of America. And this seems to me to be madness.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton start the race to November 8 on essentially even ground, with Trump edging Clinton by a scant two points among likely voters, and the contest sparking sharp divisions along demographic lines in a new CNN/ORC Poll.
For although Hillary Clinton must share some of the blame, for spending the entire month of August fundraising, instead of campaigning.
So must many in the U.S. media.
