As you may know, Muslims around the world are preparing to observe Ramadan, a month of fasting and religious reflection.
And it comes at a difficult time.
What with the horror in Gaza.
And the rise of anti-Muslim bigotry everywhere including Canada, where scuzzy hate mongers like Ezra Levant make a living peddling hatred against them.
So to try to counter that blind hatred I thought I'd bring you a humble little story about a young Muslim teenager.
By now I'm sure most of you have heard the story of the 11-year-old Muslim girl in Toronto who claimed a bigot had attacked her.
And how that turned out not to be true. Just a child's make believe story.
Like many Canadians I was relieved the attack didn't happen, and both disappointed and mildly annoyed that the girl lied.
But she is just a child, and what really disgusts me is the way the Cons and other right-wing scum are blowing up this story for the lowest of reasons.
And using it to attack the girl, her mother, other Muslims, and even Justin Trudeau.
As you know, when I heard that Kellie Leitch had described Ezra Levant's latest bigot fest as a meeting of "severely normal people" I was naturally sceptical.
For how could anyone call a meeting organized by Levant and his scummy Rebel gang, and starring four Con candidates, and the bloated homophobe Charles McVety, anything but a freak show?
But then a reader sent me a video of the sordid event and I was absolutely horrified.
This is how the Cons would like us to imagine them. As the kind of party that would send out a Valentine card like that one.
Inviting us to bee their friends.
But of course, the Cons and the truth don't go as well together as honey and peanut butter.
And this is who they really are.
It's hard to believe, it couldn't be more ugly, or less Canadian.
But just two weeks after a white supremacist killed six Muslims in a Quebec City mosque, and wounded eight others.
A group of Con leadership candidates attended a foul rally in Toronto last night to denounce a government motion aimed at doing more to fight Islamophobia.
I wonder how Kellie Leitch, our sad Trump impersonator, is feeling today. Not so good I imagine. Or should I say, I hope.
For on Saturday as I told you yesterday, she attacked a private member's bill designed to crack down on violent Islamophobia.
Only to look like an idiot or a beast the very next day.
