Donald Trump has been in an absolute frenzy all week, firing off more tweets than he ever has before. And never sounding more delusional and more dangerous.
It all began when it was revealed that he had been rushed into a White House bunker
And people started calling him #bunkerboy or #bunkerbitch.
Which drove him so wild, he started acting like a fascist...
For that was a fascist show, worthy of a third rate Hitler impersonator.
Trump, his corrupt cabinet, the generals, and Ivanka with a bible in her large, white, Maxa Mara handbag, heading to a church, for a quickie photo-op.

And the obvious question that must be asked is, where did Trump's Fuhrer fetish come from?
One explanation is that Trump has been a Hitler groupie for a long time, and even kept a copy of Hitler's speeches in his bedside cabinet.
A 1990 Vanity Fair article about billionaire businessman stated that Mr Trump’s then wife Ivana, said her husband owned a copy of “My New Order” – a printed collection of the Nazi leader’s speeches.
Another explanation, this one from Nicholas Kristof, is that Trump is trying to prove his manhood.
Trump’s call to dispatch armed forces to crush protests so that he can look tough betrays the military’s nonpartisan tradition and should trigger all our alarm bells.
When you’ve seen the ugliness of war, you don’t lightly summon tanks, helicopters or heavily armed troops to deal with civil disturbances; that’s a dangerous and damaging tactic of an insecure old man who claimed heel spurs to dodge the Vietnam draft and now needs to prove his own manhood.
Which is of course not easy...
Not when thousands and thousands of Americans are dead, thanks to his cowardly incompetence.
But whatever the explanation, all of this plays beautifully into the hands of his former defence secretary Jim Mad Dog Mattis...
And when they start running ads like this one comparing Mattis to Trump...
Trump's polls, like his teeny manhood, are sure to shrink further.
It's now finally possible to imagine his defeat.
And the day of justice that will follow...

Five more months of this maniac assuming he doesn't kill us all first. Simon, besides his fondness for Hitler, did you know that despite Trump's bluster about "Ghina," he once gave an interview praising the PRC for their heavy-handed crackdown in Tienanmen Square?

From now on all candidates for public office, especially the highest office in the land, need to be thoroughly vetted with a complete psychiatric evaluation. No one with a Hitler fetish like the Unsub in Chief deserves to be elected so much as dog catcher. Especially since it was Blondi the German shepherd who was the first casualty in the Fuhrerbunker.
The Republican Party needs to be disbanded and disallowed like its predecessors in Germany. I've been calling them the NSGOP for years. Those ads are good but in no way do they deserve to still call themselves the Party of Lincoln. Not when they're the party of psychotic dick-taters overdosing on testosterone and probably also strung out on meth. Tweaker, Twitler, Tinkler, Spy.
All that stuff Trudeau got raked over the coals about as regards toxic masculinity being anathema to real leadership sure seems prescient now!
In all deadly seriousness, Trump didn't just magically appear out of a cloud of sulphurous smoke. As us more thorough-going leftists have been trying to explain for years, he is one step in a lengthier process. He is a symptom of a disease.
And yes, part of that process/disease has been the result of actions of the right-wing. The fear-addled ignoramuses and bigots who naturally gravitate towards authoritarianism and bigotry. Even without neo-liberals like Paul Martin, Tony Blair, Barack Obama, etc., ... Rupert Murdoch would have built his FOXNews, and all the Harpers and the Reagans and the Thatchers and the Boris Johnsons and the Bushies would have tried to have done their thing.
But the way has been paved with Liberals, destroying medicare in Canada and the UK, and preventing it TO THIS DAY in the United States. The rights-shredding "anti-terror" legislation was co-written by liberals.
Trudeau in Canada, and the Democrats who control the House of Representatives in the USA, are equally guilty of transferring wealth to the plutocracy on a massive scale while leaving everyone else begging. (Can you seriously defend Trudeau committing billions to bail-out our worthless oil patch and the lazy-assed, Bay Street silver-spooned clods who invested in it, during an economic crisis such as this?)
Fascism arises when things get desperate and right-wing stupid chumps get angry. The longer you pretend that liberals are not complicit in this, the longer it will take (or the more impossible it will become) to rectify the situation.
And, just to say, ... I think you'll find very little evidence of my having praised the NDP at my blog. What praise there has been is at least equaled by criticism or outright condemnation. Which is why I often think politics is hopeless because humanity is too stupid to survive.
We used to be comrades Simon. Now you're just a groupie for neo-liberalism.
Though I would like to think you are correct I fear that to Trump's supporters the only sad thing about the past week is that the repression did not go far enough.

Hitler rose with lots of help.
Though I love Simon very much for other reasons, I am very pained by his rightward evolution. I am very appreciative of my own NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice, also Roméo Saganash and some others, but I was never enamoured with Jagmeet Singh, happy though I was to see a racialised person chosen. Supporting the oil patch is supporting planetary death - of course the workers shouldn't pay the price, that is why we need a just transition.
Thwap, do you still have a blog?
I wish I could agree with this sentiment.
Unfortunately we do not get to pick the times in which we live.
If defeating fascism requires an alliance with neoliberalism, that is a price we must pay and gladly.
HI Jackie....I still cling to the hope that the Republicans will end up fighting themselves and that Trump will end up in court fighting off one charge after the other. I'm sure he will try something desperate to try to steal the election, but I don't think it will work...
HI lagatta...please don't confuse Thwap with a leftist, he's just a bitter Trump supporter, and the kind of old man who tries to bring everyone down so they can share his misery. And neither should you worry about my "rightward evolution." I am still far to the left of the Mulcair NDP which is a party on its way to breaking up. And in the fascist world we live in is as useless as tits on a bull. The only party who can hold the Nazis at bay at this time is Trudeau's Liberal party and that's why I support it....
Hi Sixth Estate....Trump's rabid base will go down with him, but at this state they make up less than 30% of His Republican supporters. If the latest polls are to be believed, more moderate supporters are losing confidence in him, and I'm more confident than ever that Trump's time is almost over....
thwap has NEVER supported Trump or the Canadian cons.
You can't be left of a social-democratic party if you support the Libs. Believe me, I have lots of criticism of the NDP, which is why I don't actually belong to it despite campaigning for my MP Alexandre Boulerice several times, and also for a progressive NDP candidate in Outremont. I did join Projet Montréal to vote for Valérie Plante over a centre-right technocrat, but the only political party I actually participate in, other than my support for Boulerice, is Québec solidaire.
I do believe you are confusing thwap with another "Progressive Blogger" who actually is a bitter old man.
