There are still issues concerning benefits that have nothing to do with the legacy of DADT and everything to do with DOMA, the so-called Defense of Marriage Act. For instance, because of DOMA, the surviving same-sex spouse of a service member is out of luck in receiving the same considerations a surviving straight spouse. The Pentagon confirmed on Friday that it is considering segregating gay troops, specifically with regards to creating separate showers and/or barracks for straight and gay troops.
The nasty bigots. Even though gay and straight soldiers have been living together, fighting together, and bathing together FOREVER.
Golly. I just don't understand the fuss. Why didn't they check with the Canadian army eh? So they could find out that's not an issue. Gay men aren't rapists. And the army has got bigger problems.

Sometimes when I walk down the street, I can barely contain myself when I see an attractive man in my proximity...I get the shakes. I feel uncontrollable desire come over me that I can't let go. I begin to sweat, the blood rushes through my veins, and I know that I must have him right then and there, regardless of the circumstances.
There are people who go into the military for all kinds of reasons. Some have a family history of service, some are looking for a path to a college education, and some have been compelled to do so by some of the events of the past few years, but the gay soldiers? Totally in it for the sex.
Right. Because there's no thrill like it eh? First the good guys blow you. Then the bad guys blow you up.

Three years ago Don't Ask Don't Tell silenced me from reporting repeated abuse by fellow soldiers and my unit chief, all because they suspected I was gay. But when I told my story to Congressman Dan Lungren's (R-CA) Legislative Director Kevin Holsclaw, he dismissively replied, "The Representative does not support social experiments in our armed services."

To many gay people, including veterans, who watched the ''If the Army goes Gay'' YouTube video – a take-off of pop singer Ke$ha's song ''Blah Blah Blah'' staged by U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq – it was funny and hot, as reflected by comments on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
To others, however, the video played off homophobic stereotypes of gay soldiers that have been used by those opposed to ending the ''Don't Ask, Don't Tell'' policy in the military.
To the Army, the video was ''clearly … in poor taste,'' and Army spokesman Col. Collins on Friday, May 14, told Metro Weekly that he had ''sent the video on to the people in Iraq'' to address any specific concerns regarding the soldiers who participated in making the video.
One gay soldier I sent the video to thought it was homophobic. The former soldier who lives with me thought it was moronic...or débile as we say in Québec.
But I loved it eh?
Because it's a generational thing. They're making fun of the bullshit. It's the attitude and the blah blah blah that counts.
And I'd be devastated if people couldn't laugh at me, and with me, if you know what I mean. Because I spend about eighty percent of the day laughing about everyone and just about EVERYTHING.
